> North Shore Kitchens did my kitchen and dining room renovation ten years ago and I still believe that I have the best kitchen in the world! They took down a wall and increased the size of the area which now includes a nine foot Island. The design was not only completely functional but far superior to what I had previously. One of my favorite areas is the authentic walk in French pantry done in subway tile, matching cabinetry and wood shelving. I store everything in there from canned foods to large appliances and serving pieces. There is also a closet specifically for my vacuum, brooms and cleaning supplies....and it looks beautiful! The mantel over my cook top is massive and I love decorating it for every season. The fireplace surround that North Shore Kitchens designed in the dining room just off my kitchen is also quite lovely. It is done in a marble that blends perfectly with the matching wood wainscot that was installed with a chair rail around the room perimeter. North Shore Kitchens also designed and installed the cabinetry in my master bath and library. I can't say enough about the quality of the product and the design. It was a pleasure doing business with such a well established company.

> The Frank Lyodd Wright of kitchens - the setting sets the design - 3 homes 3 amazing kitchens! The first, a 100+ year old neoclassical mansion on Long Island's Gold Coast.. NSK designed a chef's kitchen with antique glaze and distressed finish cabinets, ubatuba counters, wine storage vault with vineyard scene in stained glass. This kitchen could have been in a high end Tuscan villa - la pui bella cucina. The second, regarded as one of the most attractive kitchens in a classic style Hampton waterfront home was adorned with white shaker look, a 9' natural wood island with ship's pendants above, Wolfe appliances and 2" Carreras counter - gorgeous. The third, voted "one of the most decadent kitchens in the US". Highlights include: horizontal rift cut oak, Gaggenau appliances, Dornbracht faucets, 8' island topped with Afromosia African teak, etc. All projects entirely unique, expert craftsmanship, intricate details, beautiful, comfortable, functional. And ..... the joy of working with NK who stands behind his work. No issue to small. Attention to detail and only one standard - done Wright. A big fan, currently working on our 4th project.

**Q: soap stone question** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi - I’m curious about soap stone counters. They look like a medium gray. Can you please tell me if you have oiled them or kept them the natural color and if they have darkened over time? I’m interested in the natural look of the soap stone and keeping the stone as light gray as possible but curious how dark it will patina over time if I don’t oil it. Thanks

A: You really have to oil them unless you are willing to accept heavy staining. The surface will not feel oily after it has soaked in. You may have to repeat as time goes by. The resultant Finnish is satin like.
