> TileWorks did an outstanding job on our fireplace. They took out the old 12x12 tiles and replaced with slate stacked stone and 12x12 slate tiles on the floor. They couldn't have done a better job. It is absolutely gorgeous. It totally transformed our room. They were so professional and did a wonderful job. It is truly hard to put into words how great it looks. We would certainly use them again and recommend them to anyone. They also fixed the old grout in our kitchen and made it look brand new. Again, I cannot say enough good things about TileWorks!

> Sissy and Greg just completed our master bath renovation. They installed a new shower, tub surround and tile floor extending into the walk in closet. Greg also installed wood baseboards to replace the cheap ceramic tile baseboards installed by the builder. Sissy did the painting of the bath, closet and master bedroom. They had great ideas in the tile design and their work was superb. I also think that the price was fair. I plan on have them tile the second bath in the next few months.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Need backsplash ideas please!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am having a hard time deciding on a backsplash for my kitchen. Some have suggested travertine tile; however, some of the travertine tiles I've seen remind me of an outdated or old kitchen. Some Mosaics may look too much with this granite too? I'm at a loss. Please help!
Microwave is now above the stove.

A: The 3 x 6 usually fits the best imo. Like this one I did in the picture . I like staggered but You can also run it herringbone which is popular choice.

**Q: To tile over tile or pull up the old tile??** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My lazy bf wants to put the new tile, which is larger, over the old tile on the floor in most of the house. Has anyone done this? What are my arguments against this that I can use if not a good idea?

A: It would be fine to do if tile is currently laid directly on the slab and isnt cracking. May have to trim some doors, pop of base etc. Could save you some big dollars. If its already laid on a mud bed or backerboard I would rip it all out as the thickness will become an issue in various areas. Good luck with your project!

**Q: POLL: Marble countertops - Yes or No?** *(in Polls)*

How do you feel about marble countertops? Do you dream about them for your kitchen? If not, why not?

VOTE and tell us about it in the comments!

A: go for quartz

**Q: What is this backsplash called?** *(in Photo Questions)*

And how large a piece does it come it?

A: Those are called penny rounds. That's actually a bathroom floor but they look good on backsplashes too. Make sure you hire a very skilled setter to work with these tiles.

**Q: Bathroom Tiles....** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello....

I need some help regarding my bathroom tiles.

I would like to know if I do one wall (like a feature wall) with blue pattern tile and the other 3 walls in wood tiles would be OK or not with my existing floor (similar to stone like tiles).

Quick sketch of my bathroom also attached.

Thank you.

\[New floor tiles' image attached\]

A: That's a lot of different tile patterns and lines for one bathroom IMO .

**Q: Need help selecting tile and shower doors** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have large bathroom. Three beautiful stained glass windows. Carpet on floor has to go. Replacing with heated floor and tile. need new stand alone shower. I think clear glass doors will be hard to keep clean, leaning toward frosted doors. Getting new counter top and glass sink.

A: Lots of options out there, just make sure your tile choice is designed to be easy cleaning with minimal grout joint size and keep it sealed. Frameless glass is the way to go if in your budget.
