## Community Q&A

**Q: curtain/rug combo do or don't** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I currently have sherwin william's latte walls in my dining room.  I currently have an older  traditional rug that I am growing tired of.   I would like to update the look of the room a bit.  I have decided against repainting the room gray, but would like to bring more modern elements.  I have fallen in love w/ Pottery Barn's Lucianna Medallion Drapes, and I'm wondering if either color would work w/ my latte walls.  Let me know what you think.

A: Agree with taragonder. One thing to add: please consider nicer pleating with more fullness. For instance, Wave-pleat with 2-1.8 fullness will look great and so much "richer" than the pocket top you have right now and definitely better than the flat panel that you want instead.

**Q: Any way to layout bedroom to accommodate windows behind?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

So we got a king bed and one nightstand for my daughters room (we get a lot of guests, hence the king size!).
Would it look odd if we moved the bed to not be in the center of the two windows? I was thinking of taking the nightstand to the other side and then possibly pushing the bed right next to the wall but then the headboard would be covering pretty much the entire right window so I'm confused.
Also does anyone have any suggestions on how to drape the windows if the bed were moved?

A: Beautiful bed! I would position it a few inches away from the wall and treat the wall with a wall-to-wall pleated panel (I agree, white is an excellent option ,krismays) that would stack to the center. This will: 1. make the wall look wider, 2. will soften the room and "camouflage" the fact that the headboard is covering part of the windows, 3. when stacked will allow to enjoy maximum of the windows. I've attached a photo of one of our past projects to demonstrate.

**Q: What rod and supports that wide expanse?** *(in Photo Questions)*

looking to do a similar project, looking for durable rod and supports as well as mounting methodology

A: We used 2" metal rod coated for outdoor use and metal grommets. the brackets are heavy duty steel with same finish.

**Q: Window treatments or no window treatments?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We opened the wall between the kitchen and the dining room and we like the light that that has been added.  The walls are painted Benjamin Moore Philadelphia Cream.

A: I agree with KCR Interiors LLC; your windows are beautiful, but window treatments also complete the design composition and soften the room. A good light option would be inside mount soft romans, even made out of sheer fabric would make a significant difference. If you don't need them operable there's an option of crating a valance that looks like a stacked-up soft roman shade.
