When I saw some of Sara's work I knew immediately I wanted to speak with her about working on our home. To date it is one of the best decisions we have made on the house. Her team responded promptly and after speaking to them we got started right away. We were actually heading out of town but Sara sent someone over to take pictures so she could see the space and get to work on our design. Little did I know when I got home my friends were thrilled to hear I had hired Shabby Slips and made me feel very excited about choosing them for our house. Everyone such wonderful thing to say about Sara and her work and that went a long way for my husband and I knowing people had such positive experiences to share about Shabby Slips work. And to say Sara has gone above and beyond for my family and our remodel is an understatement! We had a nightmare of a time with our remodel and Sara stepped in more times than I can count to help us (when we were absolutely too depleted of energy to deal with the contractor and subcontractors) when year 3 rolled around. I only wish I had hired her before we selected our first contractor!!! :) She always maintained her professionalism, even when I felt like I was going to lose my mind dealing with some of the original subcontractors, but she never let them get to her and always had our back. Every selection we actually made through her we experienced a completely different level of service and quality of work. Her electricians, curtain guys, wallpaper guys, painters etc. were always the right choice. I can't state that enough.. It was a completely different experience and different level of quality and service working with Sara, period. She made the process so much easier for us. With her vision she turned our house into something absolutely, insanely gorgeous. We took a very 1980's house and basically gutted it and with Sara Scaglione and her teams help the interior design made it feel complete. We worked with Sara from 2013-2017 (yes it can that long when dealing with the the city of Austin regarding permitting issues). Every time someone walks into our home they comment on how beautiful it is and ask if I did this on my own... and I laugh every single time and say "ABSOLUTELY NOT" and clarify that Sara is the one who helped me with almost everything! The wonderful part is she didn't just make it her style or her design. When we come home we come home to a place that feels like ours. It was perfectly tailored to our wants and needs. She never put pressure on us or forced us into anything but simply showed us concepts she thought worked best for each room as we went along and we selected the things we liked. She listened to our likes and dislikes and just steered us in the right direction. The zero pressure attitude helped put us at ease throughout the project. She is realistic and gladly incorporated less expensive items/pieces in with more expensive pieces. So if you have a budget (or at least like most people, you start out thinking you have a budget) she actually listens even though eventually my husband and I based on our own decisions realized we threw out that original budget after the first year. No matter what, to start decorating a home from scratch like we did-- with all new furniture, it gets expensive. But I will hand it to her, because we appreciate it so much she never strayed from our original budget until WE started selecting things outside the original scope of work. She is fabulous, her team is fabulous, and her work speaks for itself! I would highly recommend Sara to anyone who is looking for help with their home. Whether they are looking just for a few new pieces, or to revamp a room or two, or to those who are diving into an entirely new home or remodel.
