Beyond that, I was in the hospital for a month during the middle of construction. Not only did construction proceed on schedule, but also Shannon O'Brien personally checked that all doors were locked and security was in place throughout the project. This was clearly beyond the normal scope of responsibility. As to the project cost, I had bids from several contractors, some of whom were below The O'Brien Group's bid. We wanted to update and open up our floor plan which included removing a wall from the kitchen to the formal dining room. Shannon was one of two contractors that we discussed our plans with and we felt very comfortable with him from the start. He liked our ideas, added some of his own, told us what was doable and what would unnecessarily affect cost and the conversation was very reassuring. We made our final plans, received a very reasonable quote and proceeded with the project. It was early summer and the thought of having the kitchen out of commission for an extended period of time was part of what kept us from doing this years earlier. Shannon scheduled and planned the project extremely well and had his crew as well as sub-contractors planned out very methodically. We started demolition on a Wednesday I think and it was completely finished in 22 days. The work involved included demolition of a wall and restructuring the header, two rooms painted, new tile floors, cabinets removed and modified, new double level island/bar, new custom vent hood and cabinets, installation of drawer microwave, oven/range and dishwasher, granite counter tops and tile back splash. We were very satisfied with the quality of workmanship, impressed with the work pace and scheduling and thoroughly happy with the experience overall.
