> We purchased Kemper cabinets for a new kitchen island from highland design gallery.  They were very helpful, and the sales and design process itself went smoothly.
> We went with them because of the custom design options available (flush finished sides, wall cabinets converted to base height with a toe-kick, etc.)
> The price was higher that we expected (and wanted) to pay, but I was ok with it because of the custom options that we just couldn't get from the static selection available from the RTA online route.
> Now for the negative.
> We purchased made-in china RTA cabinets for the rest of the kitchen, so had a direct comparison.
> The kemper cabinets were poorly made.  They cost more than double, yet used 3/8 particle board, while the made-in-china cabinets used 1/2" plywood.  More importantly the cabinets were poorly assembled.  Things like the width between the front and back was sometimes out by 1/8" or more.  They just felt cheap, like they were haphazardly stapled together without care for accuracy.
> Thankfully the finish was well done, so after much shimming, clamping, shaving, and fudging, the island still looks good on the outside.  Which I suppose is what ultimately counts.

> In summary, would I go with highland design gallery again?  Yes.
> Would I purchase Kemper again?  No.

**Q: shower curb** *(in Photo Questions)*

how was the shower curb constructed?  thanks in advance.

A: We use the Schluter Kerdi Board waterproofing system.  The curb is 2 x 4's wrapped in the Kerdi membrane & capped with either tile or with a solid surface.  I cannot recall or make it out from the pictures.  I do see the Schluter metal trim finishing the edge of the cap.  I hope this helps you.

A: Inside dimensions Niche Wall 45" x 53".

**Q: Where did you get the red knobs?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The red knobs were supplied by another company, I don't have that information.
