A: yes, you are correct in that the blinds will be melted as soon as they start cooking in that kitchen. I seldom say this, but this is terrible kitchen design as it is a huge fire hazard. Good luck! **Q: Floor A/C register - should they be painted?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Bought a center hall colonial built in 1927 that has been updated with A/C throughout the house ~15 yrs ago. The vents are in the floor boards and are a grey wash color and entirely chipped - should these be painted or replaced all together? The floors are all original oak. From a design perspective - what color should they be? A: If you are refinishing your floors soon, I always recommend my clients to use flush wooden grates which are installed before the sanding process and later stained to blend with the floor. Otherwise, the dark decorative metal ones are the nicest. **Q: Cabinet finger pulls for kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)* I am hoping to use this 3 inch finger pull (pictured below) in my new home we are building. I am wondering how to use these with the two pantry cabinets pictured here on either side of where my refrigerator/freezer will go. (I have circled the four cabinets where the problem will be). They don't hit each other, but they would be stacked one above the other and I am not sure it would look or function correctly. This is the only place in the kitchen where it is a problem and I really like the look of them. Any suggestions? A: I would only use one vertically per set of doors, say on the right door if you are right handed. then open the other door just pulling it with your hand.
