OUR STUDIO: THE ARCHITECTURE OF WELL BEING.
An ethic of thoughtful design, sustainability and collaboration.

THREE SIXTY ONE weaves these three threads in a innovative approach to create healthy, enlivened architecture. With a background in construction, we work side by side with contractors to ensure the design intent and quality construction are executed. High quality construction and eloquent design must be inextricably linked for a successful project. With an emphasis on collaboration, we assemble teams drawing from a pool of qualified consultants that are tailored to meet the specific needs of our clients and the project .We love what we do here and bring our passion to each project regardless of size.

The founder, Daniel Weaver, AIA, graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Conservation of Natural Resources and a Masters in Architecture from the University of Washington. Prior to founding THREE SIXTY ONE, he was part of the founding faculty at San Francisco’s first public charter high school, Leadership High School. Early in his career he formed a design build firm, offering clients both architecture and construction services. He values learning about energy efficient, healthy homes and encourages clients to take up the mantle as well.

With an educational background in conservation and architecture coupled with our experience in building, we take pride in not only creating sustainable projects but also architecture that looks and feels great. We help clarify and simplify the process for you, allowing you to focus on your inspiration. The creation and delivery of a successful project is a complex and complicated endeavor.

We enjoy being part of a team - multiple input from professionals with diverse backgrounds create successful, enlivened projects. We understand that one person can’t “know it all” and that the best approach and solutions evolve from a collaborative process.

With a background in construction, we've built homes, not only for our clients, but also for ourselves. Based on our experience, we assist you in making informed decisions when facing difficult financial and design choices. Our background in building helps in communications with general contractors throughout the entire process.

> Daniel and his team have been nothing short of amazing during our house remodel project. We were at a point of no direction in our project and needed insight and help. Daniel, Uli and Luis were able to help us gain direction and help our project move forward. They are extremely accessible and so easy to work with. I can't recommend them enough.

**Comment from THREE SIXTY ONE Architecture, AIA:**

> Thank you for the kind words Philip - we have enjoyed working with you as well!

> As a real estate professional, I encounter many others in related fields and often with mixed results. In the case of Daniel and his team at 361 Architecture, I finally feel a sense of relief aligning myself with true professionals. Not only have I confidently referred them out to many clients over the years, but I also had the enjoyable experience of having Daniel work on my own home.
>
> With an eye toward note-worthy, creative, energy efficient design and a desire to do so within any budget, Daniel continues to impress. If you are seeking the services of an architecture firm, you can find one anywhere. If you desire the best, look no further than 361 Architecture!

> We rehired Daniel and 361 Architecture to design an addition to our family home based on our positive experience on a prior remodel to a different house. We found him to be creative, responsive and flexible. He was very vested in our project and a good listener. He took our initial ideas and presented us with several designs that included elements and reconfigurations that we hadn’t initially considered. The relationship was very collaborative which we really appreciated.
>
> He has a beautiful clean design aesthetic, a good sense of humor and easy going manner. Lastly, he worked well with our general contractors and their subs during the course of construction to help get our projects built which is no small thing!

> When I decided to have a new front porch built, I immediately inquired if Daniel Weaver and Three Sixty One Architecture were available to design it.
> After Daniel agreed, I told him what type of look that I was going for and he drew up an amazing set of plans that captured exactly what I was hoping for.
> I know this was a small job but Daniel and Three Sixty One treated me like I was their most important customer.
> I highly recommend Three Sixty One for any architecture job big or small.

**Comment from THREE SIXTY ONE Architecture, AIA:**

> Hi Kim,
> It was a fun little design project to collaborate on.. Glad it worked out and the planters are filling in. Thank you!

**★★★★★ — Susanne Croley, July 2017**

> We hired Dan Weaver to develop plans for a new garage that needed to be dug into our hillside. He was wonderful to work with and a great communicator. He listened to our needs and had great ideas and suggestions. He also had experience on how to best approach this project to ensure it gets through the building department permit process quickly and smoothly.
> We are very happy with the result of our project and how the entire process went. We would hire Dan and his firm again in a heartbeat and highly recommend him!

**★★★★★ — Leslie Leslie, May 2017**

> Daniel Weaver is an architect of utmost vision, knowledge, and integrity. The house that he designed for us actually exceeded our expectations. It is inviting, comfortable, calm, and exquisitely beautiful. It is a melding of form and function. For philosophical and health reasons we wanted a sustainable, healthy home. Embodied in it are state-of-the-art environmental features that earned the house a GreenPoint Platinum rating. These features include a prefabricated structural bamboo wall system, which increases insulation efficiency by 30% and dampens sound between rooms; and a ventilation system, which filters all air from outside and eliminated my allergies as soon as we moved in.
>
> Daniel, and the collaborative team he developed, guided us from inception to completion with grace, thoroughness, and a ceaseless attention to all facets. What resulted is a work of art. We give him the highest possible recommendation.

**Comment from THREE SIXTY ONE Architecture, AIA:**

> Hi Leslie,
>
> Thank you so much for your kind words and collaborative attitude throughout the course of this project. See you soon! Daniel

**★★★★★ — michellehirschman, May 2017**

> Daniel and Uli were a pleasure to work with; true partners from the onset through completion of our project. Their design aesthetic and material selection is top notch. They were able to provide us with choices that fit a variety of budgets, and offer options that were sophisticated yet unique. They really listen to your wishes and try to execute your vision. Every detail was carefully considered, they were both easy to communicate with (response time to questions and emails were within 24 hours), and overall we are thrilled with our remodeled home. Highly recommend.

**Comment from THREE SIXTY ONE Architecture, AIA:**

> Michelle,
>
> Uli and I often talk about what great clients you were to work with as well as your openness in considering different design possibilities. The photos of your house are going to show really well!
>
> Let's do it again with a development project.

> We've worked with Dan Weaver and 360one on several projects, the latest representing our greatest effort in both scope and outcome. We did a 3-level addition to our San Francisco Victorian home, connecting levels with interior staircase, expanded the kitchen with a space for eating/chilling which has become the hub of family life, added a bedroom, bathroom, media room, deck, patio with hardscaping, and more. We had lived in the house 12 years before the remodel, so we had lots of ideas about what we wanted to do. Dan listened to us, incorporated our good ideas, proposed many more of his own, and balanced design, structural, and financial objectives to transform our home. He worked closely with the general and subs to get all the details right. We love everything about it! Thanks, Dan!

**★★★★★ — HU-924339, Aug. 2016**

> Dan was great. He listened to what we were looking for and came up with a beautiful design. He was also a great parter for our talented designer and dedicated builder. We all built a house together that is not only gorgeous, but that is the perfect home for our family.

**★★★★★ — marino\_m, March 2014**

> I was in the process of planning an extensive family room remodel and wanted a professional to handle the design details and provide ideas. This was not simple since the family room wasn't much more than an enclosed part of the patio with low ceilings and sunken floor. My contractor recommended Daniel from 361 Architecture. Overall, Daniel did an excellent job from conception to execution. He listened and understood and was willing to offer advice and guidance without pushing his agenda or views. He provided a great design, and when we had some last minute major changes, Daniel was flexible and worked with us. He was also invaluable when it got tricky with the local building officials, and he worked well with our contractor and structural engineer.
>
> We ended up only going part way in our remodel because we started to think of a bigger plan down the road and when we do get around to doing that, I wouldn't hesitate to employ Daniel again.

**★★★★★ — Noah Construction, Inc., Oct. 2013**

> We've worked with Dan, of 361 Architecture, on many projects, and I have always enjoyed working with him on both a personal and professional level. During the course of construction, decisions are made that require a team approach to ensure that the design is executed as intended. Dan also emphasizes getting the contractor involved during design to help explore cost effective approaches to construction There is a genuine comfort level with his firm, and I always look forward to projects that involve working with him. We've always had success in partnering with 361.

 - Location: San Carlos, CA
 - Photos: 18
 - Description: This was a full makeover of an existing home. The existing floor plan was awkward and unworkable with views and light that were not being featured. The ensuing design opened the floor plan, opened up the house to the outside by installing large sliders and letting the light in. The house was clad with a combination of cedar and shou sugi ban cedar siding.

 - Location: San Anselmo, CA
 - Photos: 12
 - Description: The clients' initial goal for their remodel was to stay within the existing footprint to open up a cluttered floor plan. However, it quickly became apparent that the family with two growing boys required additional space. The house had dark interior spaces lacking natural light with small windows, affording little access to the nice views outside. The challenge was how to incorporate a modern addition while honoring the original architecture. Upon further investigation, it became clear that a go…

 - Location: Stinson Beach, CA, CA
 - Photos: 8
 - Description: The design for this beach house captures the beauty of the natural surrounds by blurring the line between the outside and the inside of the home. We sought to develop a design that was clean, simple and elegant much like a sail loft. The views of the coastal hill are framed by large picture windows and sliding glass doors that open to the deck and garden beyond.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Adore the rug!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you provide any details?

A: Hi, I just reached out to the clients and unfortunately it was a remnant that they had made into a rug. Sorry I can't be of more help! Good luck, Daniel

**Q: What type of windows did you use on this awesome design** *(in Photo Questions)*

We are building an 8 car stand alone garage and office space with patio. It has lots of windows and glass doors and we prefer stationary and not ones that open. What type and brand are these

A: Hi Casey,

These are windows by Western Windows https://www.westernwindowsystems.com/

Good luck with your project,

Daniel

**Q: Shou Sugi ban siding / what type of wood & sealer** *(in Photo Questions)*

What type of wood & sealer is used for this warm brown siding.?
Was any stain added ?

A: Here you go: https://resawntimberco.com/product/tora-shou-sugi-ban/. No added stain. I don't think we added any additional sealer - pretty sure it came pre-stained but check with ReSawn. They are a great company to work with... Good luck, Daniel Here's a link to the project: https://resawntimberco.com/project/melendy-house-tora-and-doro-shou-sugi-ban/

**Q: Can you tell me what the siding is on this house?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I have a Dutch colonial that I'm looking to modernize and I love the approach taken here!

A: Hi, It was pretty straightforward. 10" wide paint grade wood V groove siding. You should be able to find a local lumber yard that has variations of this, some come pre - primed. Good luck!

**Q: Love the railing. Where is it made?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Debby,

The railing was custom designed by us and fabricated by a local metal shop. Daniel

**Q: are the cabinets a natural Cherry?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Are the the cabinets natural cherry or a stain added?
