**★★★★★ — Annelene Pinkston, Dec. 2022**

> I have been working with Vanessa and have found her very helpful and always concerned about every detail of my project to come. She always has such a wonderful smile.

**★ — Anna Heaton, Jan. 2021**

> Before embarking on a full kitchen renovation, I did significant research. McDaniel's advertises a stress-free, full-service process, and since I’d never been through a home reno before I figured this was my best option.
>
> McDaniel’s was great during the sales process. After which the greatness, or even adequacy, stopped. The first cabinet I opened on delivery was damaged on both the frame and the door. The next cabinet opened was the sink cabinet. It was the wrong cabinet. The other large cabinet, for the built-in microwave, was also ordered incorrectly. Lower cabinets came unfinished on top and end cabinet unfinished on the sides.
>
> As the project went on, it was clear the measurements were not thorough, and every modification costs precious time and money.
>
> Every single cabinet in my kitchen has dents or pitting. I expected that a small amount of cabinets would arrive with scratches or minor damage, I didn’t realize every single one would! The quality does not reflect the price of $12k cabinets.
>
> My stove, which was ordered and paid in full, never came. I cancelled it after waiting 4.5 months.
>
> In sum: the value for money is not there. I dealt with the same level of stress, frustration and contractor modifications I would have with a big box store, but it cost me roughly 60% more.
>
> McDaniel’s is a sales company, nothing more. If you know that going into it, you are far better off than I am.

**Comment from McDaniels Kitchen and Bath:**

> Anna, I am sorry to hear about your experience. I understand that working with at least 2 outside installers and becoming the general contractor yourself is not easy. I called you and asked to look at the cabinets and you stated “There is not much to see. All the problems have been taken care of at this time.” We did make some mistakes, which we reordered and corrected. The base cabinets you selected are not finished on the top and you can see the bottom of the countertop when you look up from inside the cabinet. Our recent price comparison with the box store shows that for similar products McDaniels prices fall at or slightly below their pricing. As for appliances, the appliance world is upside down right now, which is affecting all companies like McDaniels. It appears that the big box stores can get access to inventory faster than we can at the present time due to factors outside our control in the market.
> I am very sorry you had this experience. We continually work to improve our systems to reduce the problems that we can control.

> Remodeling your home is one of the biggest – and most expensive! – decisions a homeowner makes. When my husband and I finally decided to take the plunge and remodel our kitchen and master bathroom we started out by getting referrals from friends and relatives and attending the Lansing Home Show at MSU. After narrowing the list of contractors down to a manageable five, we began the process of talking specifics with each. Everyone we consulted was friendly, professional, and competitively priced but when we got to McDaniels and met Nicole Dagen we knew our search had come to an end! From the moment we met, Nicole shared our excitement and truly listened to us. Not only is she a gifted designer and consummate professional, she’s a wonderful person who obviously cares about her clients and is genuinely invested in her work. I can say unequivocally that it was Nicole’s skilled guidance that transformed our ideas into sophisticated reality and we feel very blessed to have had her in our corner. With Nicole representing McDaniels and Dave Feldpausch as liaison with their partner Granite Construction, I don’t think we could have asked for a better experience. Our project manager, Jeremy Craig, was absolutely awesome, stopping by regularly and checking in via text. He answered all our questions, monitored progress, and always had his finger on the pulse of the project. To McDaniel’s credit, everyone we met along the way was friendly and helpful – and the work crews all cleaned up after themselves (YAY!!) – special kudos to Allen and James who were especially wonderful!!! So, here’s the bottom line – if you’re considering remodeling your home put McDaniels at the top of your list, you really need go no further!!!

**Comment from McDaniels Kitchen and Bath:**

> Hi Lorna, Thank you so much for taking the time to give us this detailed feedback on your experience with McDaniels and on the result of your project. We are delighted to hear that everything went so well! Nicole and the entire team from McDaniels really enjoyed working with you to realize your vision for your home. It's great to know that the entire design and remodeling process worked so well for you and that you are enjoying your new kitchen and master bathroom. We hope to see you again soon in our showroom!

> We pondered a kitchen remodel for nearly seventeen years but when we decided to get the job done, we selected McDaniels Kitchen and Bath & Granite Construction Co. to do the job. Aaron was out designer; he listened to our design wish list and advised us on keeping costs to our budget constraints.
>
> Terry was our job site supervisor and considered every persnickety detail that we pointed out for change/review throughout the construction process. The workers were prompt, respectful, cleaned up the workspace and communicated what they were doing along the way. We were very impressed with the way our kitchen remodel was handled - so much so that we added some additional remodeling work to one of our bathrooms. We cannot say enough about Terry; if there is another remodel job, we would want Terry as our job site supervisor again!
>
> If there were just one recommendation for a future remodel, it would be to be certain of new refrigerator measurements before settling on cabinetry i.e., leaving enough space/clearance for the opening and closing of fridge doors...choose and measure appliances with help of designer to avoid snafu. Fortunately, we found refrigerator that worked out well for our kitchen design and we are very satisfied customers!

**Comment from McDaniels Kitchen and Bath:**

> Thank you so much for taking the time to review our business. We are delighted to hear that you had such a positive experience with our dedicated team, and that we were able to help you realize your goal of a new kitchen. Aaron, Terry, and the entire team really enjoyed contributing to your project.
>
> 17 years is a long time to wait, plan, and dream for this new space, so it’s wonderful to hear that you were happy with the design and installation process, that your product choices worked out well, and that we were able to help you select a budget and stay within it.
>
> Enjoy your new kitchen, and we look forward to seeing you in our showroom again!

> My self along with several other professional designers visited McDaniel’s Kitchen and Bath in Lansing Michigan. Our goal to learn why McDaniel's gets the recognition they get. How efficient they are etc.. Dan took us on a tour of one of their current and larger projects. I immediately noticed how he has trained his crews to never leave a screw gun or other tools on top of cabinets being installed. A best practice which is also part of being neat and clean in customer houses. He opened the cabinet to prove its cleanliness.

**Comment from McDaniels Kitchen and Bath:**

> Thank you for the feedback! It’s great to hear from a professional colleague that we lived up to expectations. I’m happy to hear that we were able to show you the quality of our work and the pride we take in our work. There’s nothing like seeing our showroom and a jobsite first hand to experience the approach we take to all our jobs and our customers. Thanks for noticing that we take the training of our staff and crews very seriously, as it is an essential part of keeping us on top of our game.
>
> Thanks again for visiting!

> What can we say? We had a great experience with McDaniels Kitchen and Bath and the Granite Construction Company. From the beginning, Dave took us under his wing and walked us through the design process. He was able to translate what we were saying and we found just the look that we wanted. Every aspect was done on time or earlier than projected. They went above and beyond in many circumstances (especially, Jeff). Terry and Rick were excellent, too. They kept us informed and they were there when they said they would be. We had a wonderful experience and wouldn't hesitate to call them with any other remodeling project in the future.

**Comment from McDaniels Kitchen and Bath:**

> It’s wonderful to hear about what a positive experience you had with us. Dave, Jeff, Terry, Rick, and all the team here at McDaniels enjoyed working with you, and really appreciate this feedback. We take pride in the quality of our work, the service we provide, and on our experienced and dedicated team.
>
> The design process is such a valuable tool we use to help customers turn their ideas into reality. It’s great to see the process worked for you, and that Dave was able to assist you in achieving everything you wanted out of your remodel. Enjoy your new space, and we look forward to seeing you again in our showroom and to assisting you with your future remodeling requirements!

> My mother told me that she wanted McDaniels to do the total remodel for her main home bathroom. We will NEVER use them again. The sales rep who supposedly had all kinds of experience, boasted about having pictures on Houzz, didn't come out not only twice but three times to measure for a new vanity, tile for shower and bath and toilet. The tile work was wonderful but they used an outside contractor for the bath/shower. However the rest of it was a disaster. The measurements the designer took were wrong! The vanity was too high and after everything was cobbled together, we couldn't open the faucet only half way because of the wrong measurements and it hit the overheard medicine cabinet. When I took this up with the owner for my 70 year old mother, he was ridiculous to work with and rude. No offer to correct the errors at a discount after spending about $7000.00. He was totally unprofessional and not at all willing to rectify THEIR errors. We have since used local contractors in our small community in a kitchen remodel and that was a seamless remodel. I would not recommend McDaniels for anything! They will not stand behind their work!

**Comment from McDaniels Kitchen and Bath:**

> Mrs. Smith,
>
> I’m sorry to read that your experience with McDaniels was less than satisfactory. While there is always the possibility of an error or miscommunication in any remodeling job, our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible for the client. We have very high expectations for our work, our service, and our team, and it is disappointing to hear that we did not live up to these expectations in the case of your project. As you may recall, we did offer to replace the vanity but were not in a position to offer you installation services for this job. Unfortunately, at the time, this did not meet your immediate requirements.
>
> I’d like to personally assure you that we do in fact take pride in and stand behind our work as evidenced by the many projects we successfully complete every year for satisfied clients. It’s very unfortunate that yours was not one of those cases, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused for you or your mother. If you have any questions about a remodeling requirement in the future, I would appreciate the opportunity to show you first hand the quality of our products, staff, and design process.

**★ — Tammy Kirschenbauer, May 2016**

> The design phase went well, however, afrter eight weeks, the $8,000 cabinets were delivered (and paid for) but had flaws in them. Replacements were ordered and it took ANOTHER six weeks for delivery. Meanwhile, McDaniels left the flawed cabinets in my family room. When we finally received the new cabinets I called and was told they would investigate why it took so long for the replacements. I have never received a call or a reason for all the delays. Poor customer service.

**Comment from McDaniels Kitchen and Bath:**

> Mrs Kirschenbaur
> I am sorry you had this experience with our company on this, your second purchase. Our goal is to make every job go smoothly and I apologize we did not satisfy your expectations on this project. One of my frustrations is the lead time it takes to get a reorder from our manufacturer. Reorders take nearly the same lead time as the original production of the product. The six weeks is what we would expect to remake a cabinet from that manufacturer.
> We will be adjusting our procedures to, at a minimum, offer rapid pick up of merchandise that is flawed. This will alleviate the situation of having two cabinets in your Livingroom for six weeks. We have always been willing to pick cabinets up if we are notified that they are in the way.
> I apologize that we did not meet your expectations of customer service, and I thank you for your comments that will help us improve our business.

> Wonderful experience working with Don Jessup and Mekisha Johnson. Designed kitchen remodel , using our requests and suggestions as a base, but making improvements to our ideas. Product was shipped on time and was exactly as promised. Kitchen is beautiful!

**Comment from McDaniels Kitchen and Bath:**

> We are so delighted to hear what a positive experience you had with McDaniels. Mekisha and I, along with all the team, enjoyed working on your project, and are very happy to hear that you are pleased with the end result. . We appreciate what a big commitment a new kitchen is, so thank you for choosing McDaniels to help you design your new kitchen and for your product selections.

> This is my first negative review ever, and I'm compelled to write in hopes that others might avoid our experience. the mcdaniels sales staff are polite and their showroom is nice. we chose mcdaniels because they were the only area outlet carrying cabinets that we wanted to update. the rep. took measurements and pictures to get a match, but the delivered cabinets were the wrong size and a different design, and they came in 4 weeks after the promised date of shipment. their mistakes were not acknowledged and instead we were asked if we wanted to order more cabinets for other rooms we were renovating. invoicing was promised to be adjusted for the incorrect orders, and instead the invoicing includes returned items. we've made the best of the styling mismatch and are now forced to return everything that just doesn't fit right. they're no longer returning phone calls or emails so we're left to determine how to match the invoice with the items we actually accepted. once our renovations are settled we'll attempt to sell the cabinets we kept start over with any other supplier.

**Comment from McDaniels Kitchen and Bath:**

> I am sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with our product ordering, delivery, and invoicing processes. On the one hand, it is wonderful to read that you found our staff polite and our showroom nice, and that we carried the product lines you needed. As you know from visiting us, we have the finest showroom in Michigan and we carry a wide range of product choices to meet all clients’ needs.
>
> However, our goal is to have a seamless process end-to-end for our clients, and this did not happen in your case. Unfortunately, issues sometimes come up with product ordering – this is rare, but when it does happen it can cause frustration for the client and also for us.
>
> I’m terribly sorry to hear that, when this did happen, we did not clear up the situation quickly and to your satisfaction. We always aim to improve our operational processes, and take on board comments like yours (as well as positive comments) to make sure our processes work smoothly. Thank you for your constructive feedback, and I hope you will visit our showroom again sometime soon.

> From design to completion, all involved were professional and meticulous. I am quite satisfied with the end result. In particular, the back splash installation was quite labor-intensive. The two craftsmen worked quite well together in accomplishing the detailed task.

**Comment from McDaniels Kitchen and Bath:**

> Thanks for your feedback, and we are all delighted to hear that that your experience with McDaniels was so positive. We take great pride in the quality of our work and the dedication of our team, and we are happy we were able to apply our experience to your project and to offer you a new space in your home that lives up to expectations! We hope you are enjoying your new space, and can't wait to see you in our showroom again soon.

> We had high hopes for McDaniels, based on positive reviews from family members. Sadly, they don't seem to take much interest in responding to clients anymore. Jim L. came to our home to discuss replacing our kitchen counter tops. He seemed friendly and knowledgeable, and promised to send an estimate as well as schedule someone else to come and take exact measurements soon. Two months later, no estimate received and no measurements have been taken. We have left 3 voice mails, and sent two emails requesting follow-up, and no one has bothered to respond to us. It's been a frustrating experience, and now our kitchen remodeling is way behind schedule.

**Comment from McDaniels Kitchen and Bath:**

> While I am happy to hear that your family members were satisfied with their experience with us and recommended us, I am very sorry to hear that we let you down in the case of your remodel. I can assure you that we do take great interest in responding to clients, as we depend on our clients to do the work that we love.
>
> It’s very unfortunate that we did not communicate with you in a timely fashion and therefore did not meet your expectations. We enjoy communicating with our customers and take great pride in the relationship we develop with our clients and the impact we have on their homes. As you know, we did talk again after you left this review, and you did go on to buy from us. I am happy to report that we had a positive outcome once we cleared up the early miscommunication.
>
> I appreciate your constructive feedback, which is always helpful in reviewing and revising our operational processes to make sure we do better in the future for our clients.
