It was a difficult to decide, but we went with the other company only because they were less expensive. The project was completed on time and communication was excellent from the beginning to the end. Using the BuilderTrend app was very helpful. I had thought about hiring one of those companies that promise to do everything in one day - but in retrospect I am sure the project would not have turned out nearly as well, and could never have been done properly in one day. Because the bathroom is quite small and the house is old and funky, quite a few construction challenges arose. Scott and his team very carefully considered various options to solve the problems they encountered, and always kept me in the discussion. The final cost was within the budget, except for the extra cost for the plumber to replace a corroded drain pipe that was found to be leaking under the house, and enhancements that I chose to add during the project. Scott Hall's prices are higher than some other companies, and the project took a couple of months to complete, but I believe it was well worth the extra money and time to have everything done exactly right. This is a small company, and they earned my trust on all levels. We have used the shower for over a year, and it still looks wonderful and functions perfectly. Recently, we decided that we were ready for the remodel and set out to find a good remodeling contractor to work with. Angie’s List provided us many choices and we interviewed several contractors. Scott Hall Remodeling stood out with great reviews all around and when we met Scott, he was very knowledgeable and had good ideas and suggestions. We got what we wanted without an issue. I am also impressed with how the worker cleaned up after himself each time he left. A: Nice! **Q: Exterior Makeover Help** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi- I’d like to make a few changes to the exterior of my house to make it look more modern and visually appealing, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to achieve the look I want to due to the front door being too close to the side of the garage. I’d like to have a freestanding portico over the front door where I would get rid of the garage roof that extends in front of the house or I would extend the garage roof so It goes all the way down the front of the house, creating a bigger porch area and I would add a pointed roof over the front door. Do you think these looks would work with my house or do you agree that it wouldn’t work? Any suggestions for what might work better? FYI I’m changing the roof to a gray colored one and also painting the house and shutters. A: Great job! **Q: Dated Kitchen COMPLETELY Transformed - Before & After** *(in Before & After)* New flooring, appliances, cabinets, lighting, and windows which completely transformed this space! As you can see from the before photos, there was a wall dividing the two rooms between the kitchen and dining room with a small serving nook. We removed part of that wall along with the existing cabinetry to open up the space and ultimately tie the two rooms together making it perfect for entertaining guests and opening up the house as a whole. We also removed the peninsula where the oven originally was located from the middle of the kitchen completely opening up the space making it more functional. Situated into a hill, there are beautiful views of the landscape on three sides. Metal window frames also give a contemporary feel to an otherwise rustic interior. Large shutter doors on the uphill side are opened for summer piano concerts. The team wanted the industrial windows to appear as a single unit from the exterior, but needed to hide the floor structure from being seen from the outside.
