They sell Conestoga RTA cabinets and offer design services as well as some upgrades to the cabinets. Has anyone used this company or one similar? All information appreciated! A: kitchredo 99 - it sounds like you're a very handy person and could probably handle your own installation. Cabinet installation is not difficult, it just takes patients, a good eye, and a sharp blade to ensure those molding miter cuts are crisp and clean. Of course, if you have an older home where things are really far out of square, it can be a bit more time consuming and complicated, but I bet it's still something you can handle. Another bit of advise - a good cabinet manufacturer usually has an installation guide book or videos to assist with the specific nuances within their own cabinet line. Where ever you decide to purchase from, I'd suggest asking for this. My final thoughts - you get what you pay for. As you mentioned, you have expensive taste in appliances, which means you'll be looking at well made, long lasting, reputable brands. Why not do the same for the surrounding cabinets which take the brunt of the abuse in the kitchen? For this reason (and because every brand I've ever come across is imported from China - even if it says it's 'Made In America') we do not sell RTA cabinets. They simply will not withstand the test of time and, in my opinion, are not worthy of being placed next to beautiful appliances. Just some food for thought from a pro who has been doing this for almost 20 years and has worked with most major brands out there. :) **Q: Kitchen Renovation** *(in Design Dilemma)* How would you suggest I extend my kitchen cabinets taking into consideration the heavy plaster mouldings that already exists ? A: You can do something like this and extend the cabinets and blend the molding! **Q: Need advice on new kitchen with awkward stairs in the way** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hello! We would like to rip out this ugly kitchen and replace it with a white, galley style kitchen. At the end (behind the brown cupboard, is a wall where we hope to knock out a window into a light well to add light. This window would be above the end of the kitchen bench. Does anyone have any clever ideas about how we can minimise the ugly impact of the stairs and make this place look better? All suggestions would be gratefully received!! Thank you! I have so many questions. **Q: 10 foot ceilings with exposed wood beams** *(in Kitchens)* Hello, designing our modern/transitional farmhouse and are stumped on the kitchen. We have 10 foot ceilings (120 inches) with exposed wood beams but are wondering if we should extend the cabinetry to the ceiling. The hood has to go to ceiling for venting otherwise it will create a bulkhead in our laundry (which my husband is 100% against). So do we leave the cabinetry at 110 inches with beams going above or use freezeboard above cabinetry to extend to ceiling and have beams look like they are extending out from the cabinetry. Help!!! A: There are a number of options that you could do here. What type of Freeze board are you thinking? What would keep you from having the cabinets go to the ceiling?
