However, it became clear that they did not want the project. Despite the fact that the design plan and materials had not changed, the job was requoted at 40% more than the original estimate. We were completely shocked by this behavior in such a highly rated company. After 8 months of waiting, we were forced to hire another company. **Comment from The Beard Group, Ltd.:** > This buyer was given an estimate for her basement that was preliminary pending review of finalized design. She was made aware of that fact. Once she entered into the design phase, much changed from the original scope of work including the addition of translucent sliding doors at the laundry and furnace area, more tile work in the bathroom, custom-built storage beneath the stairs, a wall mounted toilet with a concealed tank...need we go on? We did make a minor clerical error on her first design invoice. Once we were made aware of the fact, we immediately corrected it. However, this minor glitch triggered the client into conducting a site visit to our facility and demanding an audit of our design process. Needless to say, we immediately determined that we had no interest in working further with this individual.
