Established in 1980, SKOLNICK Architecture + Design Partnership is an integrated design services firm, providing architectural and interior design services for projects of varied scopes and sizes throughout the United States and abroad. Founder and Lead Designer, Lee H. Skolnick, FAIA, has dedicated his professional life to exploring the ability of design to function as an interpretive tool, connecting people to their culture and communities.

SKOLNICK’s unique approach is to unearth the compelling stories that underlie every design situation, starting with the beliefs and visions of the project's owners, while taking into account the intricacies of the site and surrounding context. The “story worth telling” becomes the guiding principle for every aspect of the project.

SKOLNICK has had the opportunity to plan and design many residential projects and the firm has been recognized for its extraordinary work in such publications as Architectural Digest, House & Garden, Metropolitan Home, the New York Times Home section, and Architectural Record. Mr. Skolnick, a Fellow of the Architectural Institute of America (AIA) was named one of the top 100 architects by Architectural Digest and has served on the jury for the AIA Residential Design Awards.

Our process begins by looking for the storyline that is contained within each architectural experience. From there, an architectural language unique to that situation is developed. From the selection of a site, all the way through to issues of program, design and detailing— all decisions are informed by, and filtered through this initial conceptual synthesis, resulting in a seamless integration of site, program and all aspects of building realization, including forms, spaces, movement, materials, and details.

Through close collaboration with our clients, and by utilizing a design approach that is attentive, personalized, and thoughtful, SKOLNICK Architecture + Design Partnership strives to find the best way to enrich their lives and tell their stories.

**★★★★★ — Sara Bengur Interiors, Feb. 2017**

> I am an Interior Designer and have worked on several projects with Paul Alter, partner at Lee H. Skolnick Architecture and Design Partnership (LHSA+DP), and cannot recommend them enough! As Architects they are truly unique in their approach as they work with clients diligently and thoughtfully to create dream homes individually conceived and crafted to the specific interests of each client. Their attention to detail is unmatched and they are very hands on with contractors, sub-contractors and the other members of the design team such as engineers, lighting designers and technical specialists. They are great at collaborating and make the design process exciting and original, always taking the client’s desires very seriously. They are open to a range of solutions and help the client and design team think outside the box, often recommending interesting alternatives and varied creative solutions to design issues. They are an extremely talented firm and clearly have a great passion for what they do. I am always very proud of the work I do with them and look forward to many more projects together.

> We so LOVE everything LHSA+DP did. I am thrilled with every little detail from mahogany countertops, to the little bookcase lights in the den, to the dividing detail that separates the dining room from the kitchen. Everything is exquisite. We are beyond thrilled. Everyone comments on the perfect feel of the place.

**★★★★★ — Kate McMullan, Jan. 2017**

> We worked with Lee Skolnick to renovate our 1950's house and add a pool and several decks. He brought out the best features of our house and introduced a subtle Japanese element that went perfectly with its mid-Century style. Later, my husband worked with Lee to add a large artists studio to the property. Lee connected the studio to the rest of the house with a glass passageway overlooking one of Sag Harbor's coves. It is spectacular. We had a wonderful working relationship with Lee and absolutely loved living in the beautiful space he created.

**★★★★★ — Aaron Pine, Nov. 2016**

> Very professional to work with. Excellent designs. Design intent of their projects outside the box and look forward to working on new and exciting projects in the future

**★★★★ — rbelardi, Nov. 2016**

> The entire office is both professional and knowledgeable, but more-so personable and very through. It is a pleasure to work with an office that keeps a large design team focused and informed while maintaining a light and friendly attitude.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love the art. Can you tell me who the artist is? Where to purchase\>** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The artist is Josef Albers. You would need to contact an art dealer to obtain one of his pieces, unless you can find prints of his work.

**Q: Where is this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

It says New York, but this looks so tropical!

A: Yes, there wasn't an option to list an international location. This is in Anguilla.

**Q: Light Pendant Source?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Leucos

**Q: Do you have a side view of the railing?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is it carved wood.
Is there some form of light.
Looking for a low profile hand rail for narrow staircase.
Thank you

A: The railing is an oval wood (white oak) profile, mounted on bronze stand-offs inside the plaster cove at the side of the stair. There is no lighting detail inside the cove.

**Q: what's the outside cladding material?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Bleached tropical wood, natural stone, and stucco.
