> It is unfortunate we have to give Gilbert & Burke a rating of two stars. We had high hopes after reading other reviews. Having said that,  the framer who G&B chose to do almost all of the work on our project was sub-par. He had a crew of two including himself to completely frame, roof and finish, exterior and interior,  of a 1600 sq foot work space. This "crew" would not show up for  days, worked at an incredibly slow pace, left materials outside that became water damaged and their workmanship was not acceptable. We voiced our concerns to the site manager for G&B many times,  as well as both owners, but nothing was done to rectify this during the build. In fact we were repeatedly told things would improve, time frames would speed up and larger crews would be brought in. This never happened. We felt we were not a priority. The saving grace was the other sub-trades were excellent particularly the electrician and HVAC teams.

**Comment from Gilbert + Burke:**

> Wendy has a legitimate point in her review. The framer started off doing a good job and showed up on schedule for the first week or so of the framing. However, as she says, he became less and less reliable.

> We had two choices, continue to work with him to get the job done or, fire him and risk even greater delay in finding a replacement framing crew. We chose the former. Had we fired him we knew the delay could have been longer as it was a spring start and everyone was very busy.
>
> Could we have handled the situation more effectively, yes I’m sure we could have. The comment she makes about nothing being done however isn’t completely accurate as we did work with the framer continually, staying on his case to get him on the job to finish his work. Delays continued but we persevered with him to see his scope completed, which it was.
>
> That type of delay was unfortunate and isn’t the norm. These clients are good people and we take responsibility for bringing that framer into that project along with the 4 week delay that resulted. He isn't working for us anymore.
