From the beginning, Two Chefs Construction has been about doing something new and creative. In early 2012, Doug Riggs wanted to build his dream home kitchen. As an Executive Chef, his background was in culinary arts, not construction. However, Doug was determined and successfully turned his vision into reality, much to the delight of his wife and young sons, using the gorgeous new kitchen to dine, entertain and do homework! Inspired by his culinary classmate, Paul Sourial, always knew he had a passion for carpentry. Over a couple of beers, the two of them decided to leave the restaurant industry and started working together to figure out how to develop their wood-working craft.

Doug convinced his wife they need to spend a small fortune to set up a workshop in their garage. He bought a planer, router, joiner, table saw, and dozens other tools. For months, Doug and Paul made sure to measure twice and cut once as they worked tirelessly to perfect their first knife rack, then their first cutting board and even their their first island counter top. From there, as they say, the rest is history…. Today, Doug and Paul are still obsessed with designing and constructing amazing kitchens, expanding on their love for wood now including stone and brick.

Two Chefs Construction offers the ultimate in personalized kitchen design services, as well as custom products, construction and installation. From concept to completion, the result is always a functional space with distinctive design and one-of-a-kind craftsmanship that will thrill you for years to come. Providing the distinctive perspective that only professional chefs can offer, Doug and Paul are completely hands-on through the planning, design, and construction process, never sacrificing quality and craftsmanship, to ensure that the new kitchen will be your favorite room in your house!

**★★★★★ — Cat Shark, Oct. 2020**

> It started with a Google search and some inspiration photos and ended with a kitchen that looks BETTER than the inspiration photos.
>
> With the added challenge of a Pandemic, design meetings were quickly adapted with Zoom and the Chef’s excitement and attention to detail were clear. With uncertain times, we became more comfortable with each meeting that we should press on and were in good hands.
>
> The renovation started with excitement and of course some trepidation but every morning we got a report on what the day’s plan was and came home to marvel at the transformation that was happening. We even had to deal with an unrelated plumbing issue on a different floor of the house and Paul and their recommended plumber came out on a Saturday, spending time away from their families to help us out without hesitation. Above and beyond expectations throughout the whole process.
>
> Paul was on top of every subcontractor to make sure we were getting everything we wanted and that it was done right. Doug’s eye for design was incredible and everything he suggested came out fantastic looking. They made everything so easy.
>
> Renovations are challenging but we were almost sad for this one to be over and actually miss morning discussions with Doug and Paul now that it’s complete. They felt like part of our family throughout the whole process.
>
> If you want a beautiful and, more importantly, a functional kitchen and you go with anyone other than Two Chefs, your doing it wrong.

**Comment from Two Chefs Construction:**

> Thank you Craig! Your kitchen was a fun project for sure, enjoy your new kitchen and all the new memories that will follow!

**★★★★★ — Mark K, Sept. 2019**

> I used Doug and Paul at Two Chefs Construction for a kitchen remodel on a tight budget. I have an apartment that I wanted to upgrade before putting on the market and I know that the kitchen sells the home. Doug and Paul helped me come up with a kitchen design that maximized the existing foot print but updated the kitchen with a modern look. Specifically, the main part of the job was the cabinet refinishing and a new tile floor, replacing the tired linoleum. The cabinets went from the original builder’s grade oak to a bright white and the quality of work was flawless! They were able to get in and out in less than 3 weeks and ensured the workspace was kept clean at all times. I would highly recommend them for your next project.

**Comment from Two Chefs Construction:**

> Thank you Mark for your kind words. We agree that kitchens help sell homes and we understand that yours sold quickly. All the best, TCC.

> Two Chefs Construction is superb and we would highly recommend them for your next kitchen makeover. We have had our new kitchen since August of 2018 and have received numerous compliments on the design, décor, and workmanship. Doug and Paul are easy to work with, conduct quality work in an efficient manner and offer unique design solutions from the perspective of a professional chef. We especially love the Spell wood countertop, mahogany live-edge bar, extra-large granite island and repurposed brick wall that serves as the backdrop to our dining space – all of which have become excellent conversation pieces! Renovating our kitchen with Two Chefs Construction has been the best investment made in our home. And the best part has been the fond memories we are creating each day in our kitchen with family and friends!

> We used Two Chefs Construction for a kitchen remodel this summer. We were impressed with the creativity that Doug and Paul brought forward to incorporate both outdoor living and indoor functional use of the space. Our favorite part is the floor-to-ceiling glass-panel window wall that opens into our backyard and allows us to maximize our space for entertainment. It was clear to us that Doug and Paul really invested the time to make this kitchen a place that was both modern and timeless. We appreciated their attention to detail and craftsmanship and would recommend definitely recommend using them on your renovation.

**★★★★★ — Susan Williams, June 2019**

> We used Two Chefs Construction for a kitchen design and really loved the results! Since we live in NC, we did everything virtually - using FaceTime, phone calls, and emails through the entire process. Doug really listened to what we were trying to do as we built our dream house and designed our kitchen from a blank slate but lots of ideas. Our kitchen will be the focal point of our 3rd floor on the ‘reverse-living’ home and with priceless views of the water, it was important for us to incorporate many windows into the layout. Doug and Paul’s final design really brought everything together - and now we can’t wait to see it come to life! I would highly recommend Two Chefs Construction.

**Comment from Two Chefs Construction:**

> Thank you so much for the great review Susan. We hope you enjoy your new home over looking the stunning views of the waterway. We truly had a fun time working with you via virtual platforms. Next time we are in your area on a fishing trip, we will be sure to contact you so we can meet face to face. All the best, Doug and Paul.

**★★★★★ — Naava K, June 2019**

> I had a major leak in my old kitchen that destroyed everything from my cabinets to my subfloor.
> Doug and Paul came in and assured me everything was going to be OK. They were patient with me as I was trying to figure out my new look while staying within my budget. From design to appliance purchasing, from tile and flooring selection to cabinet ordering, Doug and Paul were with me every step of the way. They made suggestions on how to maximize my counter space and how to stretch my budget. I loved how transparent they were through the entire process, sharing the cost implications of each choice. During the construction process, it was obvious that they took pride in their craftsmanship and ensured a clean workspace. They were very professional and worked with my plumber and electrician to make sure all ran smoothly. When we ran into an issue with the installation of the countertop through another vendor, they went above and beyond to resolve the problem. The new kitchen exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend Two Chefs Construction.

**Comment from Two Chefs Construction:**

> Naava, we are so thrilled that you are happy with your kitchen. We know it was a stressful time for you because of the unexpected water damage and how that turned your life upside down for a few weeks. You were great to work with and we know that you will make some wonderful meals in the many years to come for you and your family. Enjoy, Doug and Paul.

**★★★★★ — William Pittock, May 2019**

> We contracted with Two Chefs Construction in the Fall of 2019 for a complete kitchen and first floor demolition and reconstruction (including bathroom and living room) - what I would consider a major home renovation, gutting the space down to studs and rebuilding. We have experience with similar major home renovation and I would rate our experience with Two Chefs at the highest end of our experience. The most important thing to us was a strong kitchen design that provided a good flow to our first floor and enabled a large kitchen island in a space where it might have been difficult with another design. We are thrilled with the result.
>
> They were also very helpful in selection of appliances, cabinets, flooring, and all other choices - by understanding our tastes and translating that to something that worked as a whole. They even went shopping with us for tile that would work in the design. The result is a kitchen that now flows well with living room, dining room and bathroom downstairs - permitting easier entertaining and movement of people at gatherings and dining events - and most importantly easier cooking of large and complex meals.
>
> They were exceptionally strong with construction management, timing and budget as well. I tracked spending versus budget closely and the only variations were from third-party contractors needing more involvement than planned, from unexpected problems after demolition and from our choices as to appliances. They finished precisely on the planned date set at the beginning - actually working longer hours to make sure they did. This is made possible by their working on only ONE project at a time. They are available to you constantly during the project - usually immediately. Any kitchen renovation is a major disruption but they helped us plan for the downsides and it was hard but not impossible. They did their best to keep dust and debris well controlled - but dust in all living spaces from a major project seems inevitable and we recovered from it. Even after it was complete, they were available to return to ensure that cabinet doors were perfectly aligned and that everything was satisfactory.
>
> For this work, we asked for full proposals from Two Chefs and from another well-known and capable company. We awarded the work to Two Chefs based on their design and approach - and because we felt it would produce something more dedicated to our needs versus a cookie cutter renovation. This is precisely what we realized - a kitchen that is everything we wanted and more. I say "more" because they asked us to consider using fewer upper cabinets and more lower cabinet space - in order to open up the kitchen more and make it lighter. It was precisely the right advice and we are very happy with the results.
>
> I would very highly recommend this team for similar projects.

**Comment from Two Chefs Construction:**

> Bill, Thank you for the review, it was a pleasure to work with you and Rhonda! Your finished kitchen truly looks wonderful and we hope it serves your family well for years to come!
