> Shannon is an absolute delight to work with, and her design input on our remodel/rebuild project was invaluable. She had such creative suggestions, and was able to guide us through the many decisions we needed to make with her great wealth of knowledge of all the elements, details and products that go into a kitchen and bath remodel, We ended up using her design input in other areas in of our remodel as well, and she was always super responsive to our questions. This really reduced the stress of a major remodel! Shannon has established a great working relationship with the local trades, so she was able to answer questions from our contractor and his subs directly----even in Spanish --which made the project go smoothly. Our contractor was so happy to hear that we were using Shannon for our remodel/rebuild project, because "everything goes right when my clients use Shannon". He was right! We couldn't be happier with the end result, and would highly recommend Shannon for your project!.

> Shannon of Urbana Design Studio is amazing! She helped us a few years ago with a major kitchen remodel that transformed our dingy 70's small kitchen into a beautiful, large, light filled space that we love. We get many compliments on our kitchen. Shannon combines creative and practical ideas with years of technical experience to help you create the home of your dreams. She can visualize the potential in your home and help you think out of the box. Having had such a great experience with our kitchen remodel, she is again helping us with a double 'luxury' bathroom remodel. Shannon has the best recommendations for quality products. Having gone through it twice, I wouldn't embark on a remodel without the help of an experienced designer like Shannon, plus she's patient, fun, and great to work with.

> We have just completed our kitchen remodel, led by Shannon Demma of Urbana Design.
> Our desire was to create a French country kitchen, Provencal style. We are ecstatic with the final product.
> It is beautiful, elegant, filled with light and the kitchen now has an excellent flow. We could not have had this kitchen of our dreams without the design, oversight, insight and willing personality of Shannon.
> We encourage all of you to consider Shannon Demma of Urbana Design for any home improvement project regardless of size.
> With our gratitude for Shannon’s involvement and guidance,

> Shannon Demma, Urbana Design Studio is simply amazing! She is fabulous to work with; she has high, positive energy all the time. She is flexible and listens to the client’s needs. She seamlessly walked me though an entire new house build process for interior design, purchase, and implementation. In the discovery phase, she created idea boards to help me visualize our ideas, and she created my floor plan for me to see how these ideas would implement. She also worked directly with my electricians and plumbers to ensure consistency of planning. Once we had a good idea of what I wanted, we went shopping. Shannon took me to multiple sites to preview tiles, quartzite, flooring, lighting, etc. That process is somewhat overwhelming and Shannon kept me calm the entire time. Once I decided on my products, Shannon ordered everything and managed that entire aspect (timelines, product returns when imperfect, costs, etc.), so I didn’t have to worry about anything at all. Then she held onto my products for a long time as my contractor was behind schedule. When ready, she supervised the installation of my products into my new home, working directly with the cabinet makers, tile installers, plumbers etc., always with a smile on her face. Shannon added so much value to my new home. I cannot say enough good things about Shannon. I recommend Shannon Demma 100%+!

> Our home has been transformed in a way I could not have imagined, yet perfect for my taste and needs. Shannon is an amazing designer. She is aware of all kinds of materials I never would have found on my own. It was a difficult space to configure. She is able to achieve goals creatively, solving problems with simplicity and elegance. Professional and caring. Definitely wants you to be happy. I have a new kitchen, family room and dining room that will change my daily life in a beautiful stunning way.

> I have owned my small house for almost 17 years and I always wanted to remodel the kitchen. I finally took the leap this year. Shannon understood my taste immediately and offered two different designs for me to chose from. As the project progressed, she was there to help me understand the process, was encouraging when I became decision-making-weary and offered amazing suggestions from appliances to color schemes. The final result has been a complete game changer for my house. It no longer feels small. Now my new kitchen is full of light and color and space. I love walking into my kitchen, whether to cook or just sit and reflect on how beautiful it is. I highly recommend working with Shannon.

> We had the pleasure of working with Shannon for our kitchen remodel. She listened to what was important to us and then she went to work providing suggestions. She provided us with suggestions on things we had no idea we needed and I’m so thankful for her design and help through this process. The nice part about working with Shannon is she is well-rounded and has a great personality as she will provide moral support when you feel stressed and can’t make a decision. She is very knowledgeable on current trends and was able to provide us options for incorporating both function and style. She guided us to choose products that make our kitchen different from others, but keeps us on point with the vibe of the Santa Cruz/Aptos community. She has connections and was able to direct us to a great custom cabinet maker, contractor and wood flooring company. Shannon is fun to work with, we had a great experience with her, recommend her, and plan to use her again for a future project.

> A kitchen flue fire led us to redo the kitchen instead of fixing the damage. Having another firm's design proposal in hand, but not feeling warm and fuzzy about it, we decided to contact Shannon and Tony to redo our kitchen. The first benefit was the rendering, which let us realize we didn't like the other firm's design proposal. That became apparent from Shannon's rendering based on the other design she used as a base line for costing and cost comparison purposes. IMO, she fully earned her fee just for preventing us from doing something we ultimately wouldn't like.
>
> We were originally drawn to Shannon's designs after looking at a picture on Houzz that resolved a "problem area" in our kitchen, one the original design did not address, greatly enhancing usable space and adding some sexiness as well.
>
> It took us well over nine months to finalize a contract, as I was real slow to make up my mind on certain aspects of the job and Shannon was more than patient with my slow pace. In the end we think we developed a great design and build-out, and are very pleased with the final product.
>
> Shannon has a knack for design and attention to detail. This was readily apparent when she commented that we would hate having the fridge located next to a wall as the door could only open 90 degrees as in the original design. She saved us many other missteps as well. The subs are top of the line and true experts in their craft and she works very closely with them in the design phase such that construction/installation goes off without a hitch. The quartzite counter fabrication/installation was a true work of art.
>
> Shannon also went with us to the stone warehouse over the hill to ensure that we had a harmonious match between the cabinets, quartzite slabs, and backsplash. Another time she met us at the window showroom to select the windows, frames, and colors. She had us show up at one of their job sites to see the selected windows in action, and that helped us to select thinner frames instead. We really appreciated the hand holding.
>
> We also welcomed all the advice and evaluation of alternatives for all the other accessories, like lighting fixtures, cabinet hardware and all the other "minor" aspects where I'm sure we could mess up if left to our own devices without the benefit of her expertise. She also provided invaluable insights and guidance in the selection and placement of appliances to enhance kitchen functionality.
>
> In the end, we think the total experience was excellent.

**★★★★★ — Emily Klein, Dec. 2018**

> I initially hired Shannon to design our kitchen but as our project grew, she stepped in and designed a master bathroom, entryway, stairway railing, exterior, loft space, and lighting. Not only did she create an absolutely stunning kitchen, anchored around a twelve foot island, but curated exceptional materials that reflect the way our family lives. Photos can show the finished product in all the rooms, but they don't reflect Shannon's depth of knowledge in all facets of design and construction (she is also very experienced with installation of products) or her greatest strength: her outstanding communication and professionalism with clients. She is able to translate the relationship between function, space, and application with patience and clarity -- an ability I have never experienced in the home improvement universe. Shannon is also incredibly patient with both big and small decisions, offering guidance and experience with everything from cabinet design to door handles. Lastly, Shannon is extremely professional, always punctual and prepared, and also kind, generous, and helpful with everyone else involved in our project. She is a true gem.

> We hired Shannon and Tony to do our whole house remodel and they did a truly outstanding job! We are thrilled with the results and they were an absolute delight to work with. Their attention to detail, function and aesthetics helped us create a beautiful home that has surpassed our expectations. They are easy to communicate with, always punctual and reliable. Their crew was a delight to work with as well. We enjoyed collaborating with them and learning from them through this process. They streamlined decisions for us by pointing out pertinent issues and considerations. Tony does beautiful work! We are grateful we had the opportunity to work with this amazing team, and highly recommend them to anyone considering a big or small project!

**★★★★★ — Mike Blaesser, Oct. 2017**

> It's been a couple of months since our bedroom-bathroom remodel has been completed, and still, every morning, we wake up and say, "wow, this is just beautiful."
>
> We had an idea of what we wanted, but Shannon and Tony made it so much more. Their design sense is awesome and they're attention to detail is superb. They see things you don't see and the suggestions they make are always spot on.
>
> Better yet, they are the most pleasant people you could ever want to work with. Same goes for their crew. They have their own employees and they work with the same subs. Our experience over 4 months was that it was always like having friends drop by to work on the house. And they're crew shared the same design sense, offering ideas on how we could make a great project even better.
>
> We couldn't have asked for more in the way of communication and timeliness. That's just the way they do things.
>
> We spent quite a bit of time talking with designers and contractors, looking for the right fit. In the end, we made the best possible choice. If you want people who really care about doing the job right, and on time, you've found them.
>
> Thank you Tony and Shannon for making our remodel project a fun and rewarding experience. You're the best!

**★★★★★ — Barry Hoglund, Feb. 2017**

> I started with a remodel of the kitchen and one bath and was so impressed with the results that I asked them to do the entire house. A+. Professional, great communication, They ALWAYS showed up when they said they were showing up, super craftsman, very creative in the areas I wanted to be creative.......I am very happy with my beautiful home. I strongly recommend them.

> Shannon & Tony are a pleasure to work with! We contracted them to completely remodel our coastal home and couldn't be happier with the results. Their communication, attention to detail and budget as well as design, plan and construction are of the highest quality. We look forward to working with them on future projects.

**★★★★★ — Cindy Jones, Nov. 2016**

> We worked with Tony and Shannon Demma of Santa Cruz Design and Build on a recent remodeling project in our home. Their craftsmanship, design-sense, and reliable project management are of the highest level. From the initial planning stages, to the execution of our project, their dedication is obvious in every aspect of their work. Their detail-oritented and highly reliable subcontractors are incredibly skilled and easy to work with. Tony and Shannon are easy to communicate with and seem to be able to handle any project, big or small, with the same level of excellence and commitment. We'll be using them for all future projects in our home.

> Santa Cruz Design + Build Review
> We recently completed and kitchen, living & dining remodel with Santa Cruz Design + Build. We hired them for both the design and construction phases of the job.
> In the design phase we were completely impressed with Shannon’s creativity, design/product knowledge and read on our own personal style while still keeping aware of functionality and comfort. She provided us quotes for everything upfront and got approvals on any change orders during the process so there were never any surprises in cost. She created detailed plans and beautiful 3D renderings that allowed us to visualize everything prior to starting construction.
> During the construction phase Tony and his skilled team brought our dream to life! They are so knowledgeable and skilled in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, finish work and all aspects of the build process that we never ran into a situation where they could not complete a part of the design or questions they could not answer. They responded immediately to questions we had, kept us up to date on schedules and were flexible with any changes we asked to make. They were in our home for 3 to 4 months and by the end they felt like our family and friends. They were kind and respectful to our entire family (including inquisitive children and giant dogs!) and the constant parade of neighbors coming through to see the progress. And the best part, for all homeowners anxious to get back into their homes, they completed the job a few days earlier than their estimate!
> It helped that we hired the entire team (design & build) as they were able to quickly resolve issues and questions that came up often without having to involve us. They are organized and work hard and the results show it, I would recommend this team to anyone interested in doing a remodel and looking for gorgeous, on time results!

**★★★★★ — Nick Burns, Aug. 2016**

> I can't say enough how much of a pleasure it's been to work with tony and Shannon at Santa Cruz Design+Build. Humbly speaking, I feel I have a decent eye for design but what I couldn't do alone is put my vision into a feasible construction project. Tony and Shannon did just that and then some. They complimented my design ideas and added valuable input to some of the design I needed constructed. My project (photos to come) turned out beautifully and I couldn't be happier. Not to mention very fair pricing for honest, top of the line-quality work and I feel like that is something that is difficult to find in this crazy Bay Area market. They don't cut corners and have meticulous attention to detail when it comes to the construction phase. Tony and Shannon put me in touch with the right people in town to help me with other aspects of my home project and even helped coordinate scheduling phases of the project that weren't specific to their building phase. I can't wait to start on my backyard project with Santa Cruz Design+Build.

**Comment from Urbana Design Studio:**

> Thank you so much for the review! We have so enjoyed working with you and look forward to more fun projects together. We love your amazing design sense, creative ideas and overall style. Best wishes, Tony & Shannon

> I have the utmost respect, admiration and gratitude for AD Construction. We have been working with Tony and Shannon on and off for over two years now. They have remodeled our entire home and transformed it into the home of our dreams. All in all, they’ve remodeled two kitchens, four bathrooms, replaced all the windows and sliders, redesigned and built an outdoor deck and tool shed, and designed and installed an outdoor BBQ area.
>
> From the design phase through the execution, the experience was outstanding. They both intently listened to what we wanted the space to be. Shannon’s eye for design is flawless and Tony’s attention to detail is second to none. There are no cutting corners with this team. The entire AD Construction team is phenomenal. Tony surrounds himself with talent. Every subcontractor that worked on the job was exceptional and all said the same thing about Tony- that his attention to detail sets him apart. Even the most challenging engineering obstacles were met with thoughtful consideration and planning. Tony takes pride in his work. The finished product is evidence of that. He is a true artist at his craft.
>
> The communication and organization throughout all of our projects was outstanding. Tony and Shannon were extremely helpful in making building material decisions. They did a tremendous amount of research along the way on product options, giving us design and material choices in different price ranges so we could tailor the job to our budget.
>
> There isn’t a room that I walk into in my home that they haven’t put their stamp on. I have to say that my favorite room is the kitchen. It’s gorgeous and the flow and every design feature is tailored to what we wanted the space to be. It’s the perfect place for our family and friends to gather. They have created a home that is designed around the way we live our lives. Tony and Shannon made our vision a reality. It’s even better than we ever could have imagined. I am thankful beyond words for them. Hiring AD Construction was the best decision we made in the entire remodeling process.

> Over the past 8 years, I have had the privilege of watching as Tony and Shannon, owners of AD Construction, transform my home into a stunning work of art. This extensive remodel has encompassed major exterior and interior renovation, including an addition of a master bedroom and Zen shower room, installation of Shoji screens, remodel of guest rooms and guest bathroom, outside Epay deck, and design of outside concrete patio. Currently, Tony and Shannon are designing a walnut staircase with metal railing. I feel incredibly fortunate to have Tony and Shannon working on creating the house I envisioned 8 years ago. Their attention to detail, fine craftsmanship, and whole house design has taken my home from ordinary to extraordinary.

> We are beyond satisfied with the experience we've had with AD Construction. Shannon and Tony are a dream to work with, and by far the best design and contracting team we've hired in Santa Cruz.
>
> Shannon helped us create an amazing design for our master bathroom remodel and deck construction, and we're completely thrilled with the layout and execution. We were consistently kept in the loop on all important decisions, and felt like our choices were all respected and honored. They are also genuinely kind and fun people to spend time with, and felt like part of the family throughout the course of the project.
>
> It's a privilege to work with such a top caliber team, and we'd highly recommend them for any work you have in mind.

> We did a remodel and upgrade on our house and are so happy we used AD Construction. Tony Demma's attention to detail is amazing. He is a genius at problem solving. I felt so supported and respected working with Tony and Shannon. All the subcontractors were so easy to work with and did a fabulous job. Tony did a great job of communicating with us and was always one step ahead of things. The best thing of all, the job came in on budget and on time. I was sad when it was over.

Budgets are met while creative solutions are found. The projects are ALWAYS beautiful. ALWAYS. We are happy to be a part of the AD process and we look forward to many more projects together!

> I had hired AD Building and Design to do two of my bathrooms a few years ago. I was so impressed with the work of both Shannon and Tony that I hired them to do a remaining bathroom and my kitchen. Tony's attention to detail is amazing in every aspect from the prep for the project to the finishing details. Shannon was patience itself when we explored multiple layouts for my kitchen - which was totally gutted - and exploration of the differences between conduction cooktops and gas.

> We recently worked with AD Building & Design on a remodel in Santa Cruz, CA using Kolbe Windows & Doors. They're easy to work with, communicated well and have a great attention to detail. We'd recommend them for any remodel or new construction related projects in the Santa Cruz Area. We look forward to working with them again on future projects.

> AD Construction owned by Tony & Shannon Demma, have completed two remodel projects for our family. The first was a Capitola beach rental that was budget restricted and the second was our La Selva beach home. With the Capitola rental they created a place that we were so proud to put on the rental market. The kitchen was updated with granite and new cherry cabinets; the bathroom is superb with Tony’s beautiful tile work. It is like a little jewel box that did not appear to be finished on a budget. With the La Selva home we gave them creative license to build an environment that would bring the ocean views and beach environment into the La Selva house. With the La Selva house they created stunning ocean, beach and bluff views that we enjoy from inside the house as well as outside. On warm sunny days we can open up the entire front of the house to the seabreeze, sunshine and ocean sounds. It converts our home to a luxurious beach deck to watch the dolphins and sea life. At night, the lighting converts the house into a comfortable wonderland to watch the city lights of Monterey to Santa Cruz or the waves rolling onto the sand. Tony and Shannon worked diligently to put together a plan that created our vision for La Selva. The Capitola rental was so well done that we decided to live there during the AD Construction remodel of our beach home. We literally fell in love with the beautiful little rental home and actually contemplated staying there it was so comfortable. Shannon is wonderfully creative. Her design skills, creativity, practical ideas and color choices guide you to a great finish. Tony is a consummate craftsman. He pays attention to every detail from framing, electrical, and plumbing to his tile work. He will amaze you as you watch your project progress. They employ sub contractors that are equally up to their standards; every one did an impeccable job for us. Our La Selva beach house is a place where we arrive every time and say, “this place is just amazing”, thanks to Tony & Shannon. They listen to you, your desires, requests and strive to build your dream as you see it. AD Construction will not disappoint you!

> No matter how big or small a job, a completely new building or a small remodel, I will only turn to AD Construction!
>
> Tony and Shannon Demma are a FIND: excellent design work, meticulous attention to detail, the best quality workmanship, and 2 of the nicest people you'll ever meet. And everyone Tony hires is as professional and personable. They renovated 2 bathrooms for us: two budget extremes, one nearly unlimited and one tight, and both jobs turned out beautifully. The MB morphed from an ugly and poorly designed bathroom into a beautiful, amazingly functional (and even handicap safe) bathroom we now adore. The hall bathroom needed new tub and tile, and miracles were worked on a very small budget.
>
> We are completely satisfied customers!

> I hired AD Construction after interviewing several contractors for the remodel of my beach house. From the outset, the care, detail and attention that Tony brought to my remodel, from accurately estimanting the cost, hiring gifted subcontractors, maintaining the building progress, and completing the remodel on time, was outstanding. Tony is a true craftsman in the old world sense, and he brings a keen eye for detail, whether it be installing bathroom tile, building custom kitchen cabinets, or, in my case, shaping a complicated line for my ceiling. Moreover, unlike some builders who won't answer the phone after the work day, I could always count on both Tony and Shannon to listen to my concerns, and to address promptly any issues that developed during the construction, no matter what the hour. AD Construction is truly a partnership, and Shannon provided invaluable assistance to me in helping me select materials and finishes for my home. In closing, I feel truly blessed that Tony and Shannon were my builder, friend and counselor throughout my project. My home is a truly marvelous living space. I had a vision for my beach house, and Tony and Shannon of AD Construction brought that dream to fruition.

> Hiring AD Construction for the remodel of my home in the Redwoods was the best decision I made. This was a big job that included a complete renovation of the kitchen, dining area, buffet, den, fireplace, stairway and foyer. Tony worked closely with my design team to execute against the plan, while bringing his own ideas and craftsmanship to the product. Tony and his team are true craftsmen. The attention to detail, knowledge of the construction process and creative contributions made my home remodel a true pleasure. I was informed of costs, timetable and progress at each step of the project. AD Construction truly cares about the quality of their works, and it shows! Thanks to their skills, talent and hard work, I have a home I can be proud of and enjoy for many years to come. I highly recommend AD Construction.

> Tony and Shannon constructed a new deck for us, complete with a redwood awning, heaters, and railing. Like with a kitchen remodel they did for us 5 years ago, A D Construction's work was nothing short of transformative. They took our ideas and made them into works of art. Tony and Shannon make an efficient and powerful team. Shannon's design work (especially the color renderings that let us see the results before construction begins) is practical yet inspired. Tony's planning and construction is top quality and beautiful. They are good people who take the time to listen to the homeowners, suggest alternatives, and stand by their work.
