> Terrible Arto Concrete Tile Product & Service
>
> I was an ABC licensed contractor and had my own Project and Construction Management consulting business for years. In my 30 plus years in the design, engineering and construction business, I have never seen a product fail as spectacularly as Arto’s Cotto Gold concrete tiles did.
>
> As you can see from the project photos below, Arto’s Cotto Gold concrete tile purchased and installed in 2021 was a huge disappointment. The color on these exterior stairs had initially and continues to come off the surface three years later. You can wipe the color off even on the uninstalled concrete tiles.
>
> Additionally, I saw premature spalling of the tiles and excessive efflorescence on the tile surfaces which could not be easily or cost effectively remedied.
>
> After my contractor and I called Arto in Oct of 2021, Arto sent out a representative in late December 2021. Arto’s representative said he never saw color wipe off their tile like ours did, nor did he ever see spalling to that level on tile unless it was 10-30 years old. He didn’t offer any answers, help, apologies, take any responsibility or offer a way forward – except to tell my contractor to work though the supplier. That was the last we heard from Arto.
>
> I will never use another product from Arto. They ignored me and my contractor and did not return phone calls. They did not take enough interest in their own concrete tile product to try and help understand and then resolve the color and other issues. Overall, it was a terrible experience working with them and the Arto concrete tile is the worst product I have used or seen in 30 years in the business. I am ripping out and replacing the entire installation.

> As an architectural designer , I am sad to report a negative recommendation for Arto tile for any exterior decking use. It is too thin and heavy breakage of pieces (crosses and star too on Arabesque), color failure due to normal weather (even with proper sealing). Absolutely no customer service or accountability. The times are too thin and delicate pieces as well as color finishes not being reliable. Use only on interior foundations. They do not educate their distributors either so they sell it (certain patterns, sizes) for the wrong applications.

**★★★★★ — H O M E + atelier Michael Ranson, May 2018**

> It was a pleasure working with the team at ARTO when designing the interior and exterior flooring surfaces of my client's Mediterranean style home in Southern California. We needed a product that was both durable and beautiful. ARTO's Arabesque series allowed me to unify the home with a single color while the many sizes, shapes and patterns helped me create individual spaces and transitions throughout. Tiles from the Californian Revival Series were used on staircase risers to create a beautiful and traditional look. The Artillo Collection allowed me to continue the patterns and beauty to the exterior of the home. From my initial visit to the factory followed by the design process and then continuing throughout the remodel I found ARTO to be a large part of the success of this project.
>
> Since this project, I have sourced and recommended ARTO products to additional clients for their projects. I will be starting a tiny but beautiful powder bath using ARTO as the flooring and shower pan very soon. In the fall, another client will be starting a large exterior remodel where we will be installing the Californian Revival Series on several water features around the new swimming pool. I'm looking forward to working with ARTO on both projects because I know that my clients will be very happy with the results.

**Comment from ARTO:**

> Humbled and grateful for the amazing review. Thank you, Michael. Truly, your work makes us look better than we ever could on our own. Team work is the dream work!

**★ — J H, Jan. 2018**

> I loved this tile when i saw the options on shape and color. I picked a shape And color that was perfect for our Spanish style home remodel. Unfortunately for an outdoor tile, the color did not last through even one rainy season in California And despite 2 different reapplications of the recommended sealers, we are still tracking the color powder residue that is weeping away from The tile into our house leaving footprints everywhere, even now 1.5 years after Install.
> When we approached the company they told us that this tile does not do well when exposed to sun and rain, yet the tile was marketed And labeled as outdoor tile (really?).
> Every day I walk through our gorgeous courtyard angry because I immediately need to take my shoes And my kids shoes off before they set foot in the house because otherwise we would have powder footsteps all over our wood floors.
> Not to mention that the color of the tiles, 9 months after install, look like they have been there 30 years with just a pale pathetic reminder of the beautiful color they started with. See pics -one the patina color of a covered area And the other the bleached look of the weather exposed tile.
> It is one of the most aggravating things about our new remodel and the response from the company was laughable. Do not get this tile if it is for an outdoor environment!!!

**Comment from ARTO:**

> I will also figure out in the meantime how to contact you via direct message on Houzz, or via the dealer.

> I love using Arto for my projects. I always find great product that comes from an established reputable, local source, and the handmade quality lends an authenticity and unique characteristic that is so often sacrificed in our society that focuses on generic machine made product. I am able to get quality product with great customer service and beautiful tiles that represent who I am as a California designer and the work I do.

**Comment from ARTO:**

> Reading your review makes me realize you totally understand Arto. We are a great match and I am happy you found us. Let us know if there is anything we can do to support you. Thank you for your generous positive feedback and sharing photos of your beautiful work!

> Arto tile is such a fabulous and unique product. We just love the interesting shapes and colors, and the fun patterns that can be created. The concrete material provides a textural quality with depth and interest. We have specified their tiles in several upcoming projects - can't wait to see it all installed!

**Comment from ARTO:**

**★★★★★ — Falling Waters Landscape, Oct. 2017**

> We love working with ARTO tiles! The sales and knowledge behind this product is some of the best we have seen in the industry. The product is easy to specify and the samples are true to color which makes it easy to show clients. The ACTUAL products are high-quality and beautiful. We look forward to using ARTO tiles on several of our upcoming projects.

**Comment from ARTO:**

> It's always rewarding to get positive feedback and especially to read details about what we are doing right. Thanks to you guys. One of our many goals is to always improve so feel free to keep us in the loop in order to better serve you.

**★★★★★ — Via Rosa Design Studio, Sept. 2017**

> As a luxury architecture + interior design firm, our clientele expects the best product and material specifications from us. Arto has proved to be a high-end product and the finished product is simply beautiful. One of our favorite projects we specified Arto for was a major interior and exterior restoration of a 1920’s 7,300 square foot Spanish estate. Arto’s products were a no-brainer for this project and the outcome was seamless and authentic. We highly recommend Arto to anyone looking for a well-made, unique product.

**Comment from ARTO:**

> Thank you! Honoring history is so important and we are always thrilled to assist in creating products that seamlessly marry old with new to preserve the essence of the original work. Seeing how you can take a plan and create such beauty is rewarding for us. What an LA gem!

**★★★★★ — Buena Tile + Stone, Aug. 2017**

> We love working with Arto! Armen and his team are an inspiration to us. Arto values custom, made in America, beautiful, handcrafted, artisanal tiles. We partner with Arto on luxury residential and hospitality projects. Our clients are always impressed with the attention to detail and the care they take to make each order unique. We just finished the Hotel Californian in Santa Barbara, which combines our tiles with theirs. The whole process was seamless and fun. We recommend them to anyone looking for a beautiful, custom made product.

**Comment from ARTO:**

> Thank you, Buena Tile + Stone for the supportive words. There is nothing as rewarding as working collaboratively with you. Hotel Californian is a work of art.
