### Reviews

**★★★★ — Kristie Kretschmann, Aug. 2026**

> We hired Deborah for a full kitchen and great room renovation, which included sourcing materials, fixtures, and furniture. Our primary goals were to maximize storage, add seating, utilize dead spaces, and create a calming, timeless aesthetic. Overall, we are very happy with the end results. The final design truly delivered on our critical functionality needs.
>
> During the design phase, communication was excellent. Deborah used convenient tools that kept us aligned, and she was flexible and responsive to our feedback. There was a holiday gap between the design completion and the construction kickoff. Once construction began, Deborah transitioned to an on-request basis.
>
> This shift led to a few execution hurdles that could have been avoided with proactive oversight. We experienced some missed design expectations with the cabinet maker, realized cabinet hardware wasn't included in the design, and hit a brief issue regarding the sofa selection. While the sofa situation could have been handled with more grace at the onset, a satisfactory resolution was ultimately reached. We had to pivot on a few elements, and I found it helpful to maintain my own project and billing tracking to ensure accuracy.
>
> Recommendation for future clients: If you are doing similar large-scale renovation, I highly recommend contracting Deborah for formal construction-phase support. Explicitly include cabinet maker reviews and periodic project check-ins in your contract. Despite the construction-phase bumps, the result turned out beautifully and functions exactly how we wanted.

> I hired Deborah to help when we were in a bind after pulling our condo off the market and making the difficult decision to move back in temporarily. This meant we needed furniture to both live in and that would be suitable for eventual staging. At that time I had already decided to rent furniture from a company but was having difficulty making design decisions on my own. Deborah agreed to take on our somewhat unusual project with gusto and enthusiasm. She quickly reviewed the rental furniture I had chosen and completed a cost comparison, immediately directing us to buy rather than rent particular pieces. She assessed our style and taste preferences and quickly recommended furniture and accessories from her various vendors to complete the look of our space. It is coming together in a lovely and beautiful manner and her skill has surpassed my expectations. She has gone above and beyond and has been an absolute pleasure to work with!

**Comment from Deborah Vieira Design:**

> Liz, the pleasure was truly mine. Thank you so much for the opportunity to work on your home, which is turning out beautifully, and your kind words here.

**★★★★★ — Sheila M, Nov. 2025**

> Working with Deborah was a dream. From day one, she guided us through permits, building requirements, and all the complicated parts of remodeling with confidence and expertise. She has an incredible eye for design — she saw possibilities in our home that we never imagined, including creating space for an ensuite bath.
>
> She also made interior selections fun and stress-free, offering options that fit our style and budget. Some of her suggestions were things I never would’ve picked myself, yet they turned out to be my favorite parts of the house. She was patient with my indecision, flexible when I changed direction, and quick to implement updates.
>
> Most importantly, she was truly a delight to work with. I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

**Comment from Deborah Vieira Design:**

> Thank you. It was a privilege and creative joy working with you and your family. I'm very grateful for our project together, and thrilled by your stunning home!

> Deborah created the most amazing home for us in 2024! This was our 2nd project with Deborah (our first was in 2015), and this time, we did our full main floor. Deborah brought a tremendous energy to the project and together we created a beautiful home that is modern, cozy and ready for the family. My favorite parts are the kitchen and bar!

**Comment from Deborah Vieira Design:**

> Thank you so much! As with your last home, your landscaping, and now this gorgeous home, it's been a privilege and joy working with you and Dave.

> Although our kitchen update was a small project for Deborah and with our budget restaurants there was only so much we could do it turned out so much better than I could have imagined. Every detail addressed. Deborah was able to find all the components needed and tradesmen to accomplish the kitchen of my dreams.

**★★★★★ — molly phelps, Feb. 2023**

> Working with Deborah Vieira Design has been perhaps the best decision we’ve made as homeowners. The experience of walking in your front door and feeling at peace in your surroundings is amazing.
>
> Deborah got to know our family and designed beautiful, unfussy living spaces that fit the way we live. Not only does she have impeccable taste, but she is also warm, gracious, and collaborative. Deborah is a consummate professional – her process is transparent and she is accessible, responsive, and completely open to feedback and iteration.
>
> Deborah transformed our house into a home and we feel deeply lucky to have found her.

> There are many moving parts when going through a home remodel and the stresses of even the simplest things can become overwhelming….unless you are working with Deborah Vieira Design.
>
> We really lucked out when our neighbors, who recently went through a major home renovation, introduced us to their designer, Deborah Vieira. Wow! From our first conversation with her, we knew she was who we wanted to work with. Her calm demeanor is something everyone needs throughout the design/remodeling process. She's has a wealth knowledge, wearing the many hats needed as a project moves forward. We knew we needed a person who could balance the aspects of architecture, interior design, floor plan design/3D modeling, city permitting (it’s a maze!), coordination with contractors and engineers, kitchen functionality and design, etc. Our house is not an easy project by any means. While I’ve seen her work in regard to more contemporary built home projects which turned out beautifully, we have the opposite situation in a 1930’s traditional Tudor, which is a bit a of Winchester Mystery House that took A LOT of looking into and thought. No easy breezy planning here at all, with previously unaccessed attic spaces, various intersecting floor levels, dormers, traditional details to cherish, multiple patio and deck needs, plus adding some square footage as well. Not to mention all the systems needed updating. Deborah took it all in stride, with enthusiasm and a creative mind.
>
> While we are not done yet, Deborah has made our remodeling experience quite pleasant so far, with responsive and well thought out communication. She’s consistently cheerful and a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a designer.
> She is the best!

> Deborah provided the design and help with identifying a superb contractor for our kitchen and first floor remodel late 2019. The design and remodel turned out fantastic – a beautiful and excellent use of space that has been integral to our family during times at home, and, more recently, for larger get togethers. She was responsive, answered many questions and provided great ideas for the cabinet layout, and design of the island and pantry.

**★★★★★ — HU-796162928, May 2021**

> Deborah was an absolutely lovely person to work with - despite a pandemic, home schooling 4 kids and doing her own remodel - she always remained cheerful, calm and thoughtful throughout our whole remodel. She thoughtfully took us through the whole process, was careful to explain financial costs/benefits of different decisions, offered great design/layout suggestions and capably pointed us in the direction of different material options and kept the design process very collaborative. Deborah was also good at creating a timeline and managing all the paperwork. My husband and I strongly recommend Deborah.

**★★★★★ — mirhiya, Nov. 2020**

> Our experience with Deborah was amazing. She has an excellent design sense for any budget. Her organization and attention to detail helped us stay within budget and on time. Her wide range of skills helped us problem solve on many levels. Deborah was a true professional throughout the entire project. I feel lucky to have had her as a partner in our project.

**★★★★★ — jng1395, Nov. 2020**

> Working with Deborah has been amazing throughout our project!
>
> She was helpful from the get go, from navigating contractors/vendors to improving our floor plan to selecting fixtures and finishes to meet our budget, Deborah was on top of all aspects of our total home remodel.
>
> We particularly liked how Deborah incorporated our feedback, and helped us answer many one-off questions about design vs functionality for our family now and in the future. She was always patient, responsive and a first-class problem solver. A true pleasure to work with.
>
> Thanks Deborah for your expert guidance!

**★★★★★ — L L, Nov. 2020**

> We have had a great experience with Deborah through the entire planning, design, and permit process for our whole house remodel. It was great to have interior design considerations from the inception of the planning process, and she has come up with ideas that are very creative and functional at the same time. She is always pleasant and clear in her communication, and has a nice balance of proposing ideas and understanding our preferences. She has remained patient with us during the design process with all of our peculiarities and requests, and has handled the challenges posed by the pandemic with aplomb. We are thrilled to have gotten through the permit process, and we look forward to the next phase of our project. We absolutely recommend working with Deborah.

## Community Q&A

**Q: dining room** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Completely changed dining room from before......I am thinking about a zebra rug and just some ceiling to floor drapes that are cream and airy since the wall goes into the formal living and could have a whole wall of drapes??????

A: Yes! This second batch of mirrors is great. I really like the proportions of the first mirror, but think the second would also work well.

**Q: Porch ideas** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have been renovating this house for the past 2 1/2 years. We are now ready to add a porch back on after removing the old rotted one. We are undecided on whether we want to screen it in or not. We cannot wrap it around because of the gas meter. Thanks :)

A: I agree that an open porch will look more attractive than screened-in. I'd further recommend opening the porch entirely up, with stairs along both sides. Similar to this picture, but, as advised by decoenthusiaste, with a single porch roof in style akin to the front window, and side posts: I think this style of porch would not only be welcoming and more contemporary, but would also play nicely with your home's beautiful update and color scheme. I also imagine a comfy bench or chairs beside the front door, and littlecottage's landscaping ideas!

**Q: who makes this bed, where is it from? Thanks!** *(in Photo Questions)*

who makes this bed, where is it from? Thanks!

A: The bed was purchased through this EBay store: http://stores.ebay.com/alexalin-designs
It's made in TX, and I was very impressed by the quality along with the personal service -- plus the price is roughly half of similar quality pieces I've seen.

**Q: Ugly drop ceilings** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We may buy a house with these in the basement similar to the picture here how can we change them? beadboard? there's too much going behind the tiles to actually raise the ceiling.

A: I guess it depends on how much you need to access up there... If you have cool rafters/pipes/etc, pulling out the covers, giving it a unifying color with cabling concealing wiring, exposing it all could look very industrial-chic, save a lot of money, and raise the ceiling. You didn't mention the height of the current ceiling... if it's high enough and you don't need direct access, then I'd alternately suggest ripping out the drop ceiling, drywalling, and adding interesting beams or a paneling design to better balance the proportions of the room. Ping me if you're interested in a quick sketch.
