> Worked with this company on multiple projects.. Started a few years ago with the basement remodel.. We went to them at the last moment with a question on a difficult design decision on the bar location.. We came back with a whole new perspective on the the design and we loved it! That is what they do. They take you to a different level and that comes from their experience. We have since been their customer. They have helped us with the redesign of the kitchen, and outdoor patio and deck area. They also helped us with redecoration. There are very few rooms in the house that has not been touched by them. We are very happy with their work. Very professional but at the same time very friendly. God knows how many times i have jerked them around at the last moment with indecision or change in design request / change in decision. They have always been wonderful and very accommodating.. Love working with them. Our main contact is Sarah, who is a managing partner there. She is the main reason why we love them so much. Be it her design skills or her interpersonal skills. We are very happy.

**Comment from Rowland Design:**

> Thank you so much! Personal relationships are such an important part of what we do. We feel honored and lucky to connect with great clients like you!

> Rowland Design did the residential styling and design work for a new home I was planning to build. This was a tough project for them because I gave them a floor plan that I loved but the elevations were uninspiring and needed help. Rowland was able to design beautiful exterior elevations with minimal changes to the floor plan. They also helped me refine several of the interior design details which did not impact the cost but really improved the home. I should have gotten them involved from the start but fortunately they were able to work with what I gave them and saved the project... which turned out beautifully!

**Comment from Rowland Design:**

> Thank you for the kind words! Sometimes the smallest details really do make the biggest impact on a project. We certainly appreciate the opportunity to help make your new house a home!

 - Location: Indianapolis, IN

 - Description: This once typical, red brick 1970s ranch was transformed into a whole new style of home. Instead of building out, a second story was designed while the main floor space was reconfigured. A seldom-used dining room was converted to a large foyer and room for the stairway. The front door was shifted and enlarged allowing for an oversized door and concrete column giving the home a more contemporary look. The new second story includes a master suite with vaulted ceilings and a home office.

 - Description: Although new, this cottage was traditionally conceived as two structures that had been united: an original cottage and an out-building connected by a porch. On the main level, the cottage contains the kitchen, breakfast area, and entry/dining area. The second level has two bedrooms, each with access to a porch, individual baths, and a casual family room. The out-building contains the master bedroom with access to the main deck and a master bath that includes a tub with a direct view to Lake Mich…

 - Location: Indianapolis, IN
 - Photos: 12
 - Description: 10 years of planning, collecting, designing and building, brought the vision for this grand residence to fruition. The exterior façade and interior design were influenced by the Duke and Duchess of Windsor’s estate in Paris’s Bois de Boulogne and a neoclassical design aesthetic. Clean, neutral walls and white moldings are accented with hues of pale lavender, soft teal, gold and champagne throughout the main level. A large, custom patterned rug in the living room unites and grounds the surroundin…

 - Location: Los Angeles, CA
 - Photos: 10
 - Description: The Spanish Colonial architectural style of Southern California radiates through this redesign of an existing chapter house for Alpha Gamma Delta at the University of Southern California. Ornate details and stonework at the entry help to convey period design style. A complete redesign of the first floor was also completed to accommodate the newly colonized group’s needs for social gathering and community activities. The spirit of the sorority and the University are celebrated through color and f…
- [Louisville Urban Condo](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/louisville-urban-condo-pj-vj~11609)
 - Location: Not specified
 - Photos: 4
 - Description: Nestled in an urban high rise, this previous suburban dweller sought to dramatically reinvent her lifestyle through the design of an open loft focused on entertaining and meditative calm. The spare, contemplative retreat centers all cognitive and physical attention on the soothing presence of the Ohio River: furnishings are clean-lined, finishes are quiet and rotating, and a regional art collection is strategically placed so as not to distract from the river’s peaceful existence.
- [Contemporary Arts and Crafts Home](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/contemporary-arts-and-crafts-home-pj-vj~913612)
 - Location: Not specified
 - Photos: 5
 - Description: Brandt Steele, the architect of this 1904 home, designed the interior with a simple Arts and Crafts vernacular, an aesthetic that made it an easy blend with the recent contemporary makeover. While many of the original spaces and details remain, rooms were re-purposed and or re-proportioned to create a modern living environment. A small dark kitchen and two adjacent rooms were combined to create a large brightly lit galley kitchen with plenty of storage and a direct connection to a new family roo…
- [Mid-Century Ranch Addition](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/mid-century-ranch-addition-pj-vj~11607)
 - Location: Indianapolis, IN
 - Photos: 8
 - Description: This addition to a 1952 ranch house consists of a kitchen expansion and bedroom addition with bath. The emphasis on sustainability is evidenced in the live roof on the kitchen, the reuse of existing limestone for the two-sided fireplace and extensive solar planning to reduce the need for artificial lighting. The adaptable bedroom addition serves a child now, but can be re-purposed as a ground floor master in the future.

 - Location: Not specified
 - Photos: 5
 - Description: This seamless addition to a 1920s family home is centered around the display of a premier collection of political memorabilia and the introduction of a grade level master suite and informal lounge area. The three level project is dominated by a dramatic winding staircase, extensive woodwork and abundant natural light. Accentuated with period furnishings and decorative art from the nineteenth century and innumerable volumes of political history, this environment is a true reflection of the homeow…

## Community Q&A

**Q: what is the paint color please?** *(in Photo Questions)*

what is the paint color please?

A: Hello achunov, thank you for your question! We do not have the paint color saved from this project, but a similar color you might like would be Georgian Bay by Sherwin-Williams.

**Q: what is the paint color please?** *(in Photo Questions)*

what is the paint color please?

A: Hi achunov! We do not have the paint color saved from this project, but a similar color would be Cilantro by Sherwin-Williams. We hope this helps!

**Q: Can you tell me where I can get these lights?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Beautiful Lights over the island! Can you tell me where I can purchase them?

A: Tip from Houzz: Pendants are usually hung 60 to 66 inches from the floor to their bottom rim. Those guidelines are subject to change, however. The height of the inhabitants, the design of the pendant and the task to be illuminated all work together to determine the proper height for a given installation.

**Q: Paint** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the paint color on the ceiling ?

A: The ceiling paint is ICI "Tuscan Tan" in flat finish.

**Q: Hood** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi can you tell me width of hood and width of cabinets on either side of it?

A: The hood is 3'-6" and the cabinets are 10" each.

**Q: What is the name of the paint color and what brand would it be. Thank you** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This color is Pratt & Lambert "Corncake Muffin" in flat finish.
