But, somehow the lighting in the room made the carpet way too dark. Now I am left to change things in the room to adapt. What can I do to improve this? It has the cheap apartment feel to me and I got pretty good carpet and padding ....very concerning. A: I don't think the carpet is the problem. I think the room needs a refresh with furniture and lighting to brighten the space. New Lamps and overhead lighting, an entertainment center in a lighter wood than doesn't feel so sparse (and to hide cords) and coordinating end tables to add texture and visual interest.
