**Q: Does radiant floor heating inside a shower make sense?** *(in Heating & Air Conditioning)*

Does it make any sense to install floor heating inside a shower? Or will the temperature of the water override whatever heat is coming from the tile? 
The shower is 25sqft so a lot of it won't directly get water from the shower head. But even if parts of the shower don't get much water, won't the dry floor areas just warm up from the higher overall temperature inside the shower enclosure?  
The rest of this bathroom is getting floor heating and I'm just wondering if it makes sense to put it inside the shower too?

A: Heating the shower floor with Schluter Ditra is perfectly fine. If you are already warming the floors in the rest of the bathroom, you might as well heat the shower floor. You will have to have a separate wire in the shower from the rest of the room though. 
Schluter provides in person training all over the US. You or your contractor can sign up online.

**Q: Kitchen Pendant Light Help** *(in Lighting)*

Hello! I am in the process of building a house and need to select 2 pendant lights for over the kitchen island. Here are photos of the kitchen layout. The hardware will be satin nickel (not black) and the island will be 7 feet. 





This is the Bianco Milano Quartz, dove white cabinet and grey island. 

I was looking at bronze-finished pendants to add contrast, and then stick with dark-metals throughout the first floor for flushmounts and even chandelier in dining room. Below are the few I am considering and looking for your feedback.

A: Hi there! You really can’t go wrong with any of your choices. It depends on your preference of light bulb look. It’s also difficult to tell without knowing dimensions of the light fixtures.

**Q: Budget kitchen update advice needed!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

How can I brighten our galley kitchen, create more space? Husband doesn’t want to pay for remodel. Can these cabinets be painted? What to do to cover granite backsplash? Reconfigure and raise cabinets, add wall shelves underneath?

A: Hi there! Yes you can paint the cabinets. Painting them a brighter white and changing out the hardware will make a huge difference! As far as covering the backsplash, Lowe’s and Home Depot sell peel and stick tile. Another option would be to use a thin tile (I’ve seen these at Floor and Decor) and you can tile over the granite with correct prep. 
Container store has great ideas for storage within the cabinets to help maximize the space. 
I believe IKEA has good under cabinet lighting that you can retrofit to work with your existing cabinets.
