## About

A-1 Builders and Adaptations Design Studio is a design/build firm with a showroom. We do remodels, light commercial projects, and custom homes.

Our approach is to work with clients on getting them the design THEY want, offering design and build guidelines along the way. We focus on responsible building, green building, and helping people figure out what design features will allow them to stay in their home for as long as they can - something called 'aging in place'.

Our two tag lines say it pretty well:
Adaptations Design Studio: 'Creating Structure to Support Your Life';
A-1 Builders: 'Building with the Future in Mind Since 1955.

### Services Provided

- building it
- and celebrating the completion!

## Selected projects

- [Fireplace Facelift with Natural Plaster](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/fireplace-facelift-with-natural-plaster-pj-vj~760250)
  - Location: Not specified

  - Description: Natural Italian plaster (Marmorino) made a beautiful facelift for this aging fireplace. It covered the painted brick well! We lowered the mantel and thickened it by about an inch. We were also able to preserve the black tile flush hearth. Earth Craft Painting was our subcontractor here and he did a wonderful job - http://earthcraftpainting.wordpress.com/
- [Dog Washing and Grooming Sink](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/dog-washing-and-grooming-sink-pj-vj~760390)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 3
  - Description: A-1 Builders and Adaptations Design Studio re-designed and built a laundry and mudroom with this dog washing and grooming sink. It becomes both a countertop and a deep sink. The owners found shells to embed in the poured concrete and polished countertops for this room. Their Labradoodles can be safe and secure when getting cleaned up after a romp in the Pacific Northwest forest! Thanks to our concrete sink fabricator - New Edge Design - for helping us create our vision.
