- [Cocoon Home \| Long Island](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/cocoon-home-long-island-pj-vj~6280841)
  - Location: Southampton, NY
  - Photos: 26
  - Description: This Gold-LEED home, selected for Domus Best Houses award, for AIA LI Sustainable Design Residential, and nominated for Frame House of the Year Award, it is called Cocoon because its round walls form a Cocoon shape towards northern and western neighbors. This rounded enclosed half of the house provides shelter and privacy. The other glass side of the house, facing south, takes in ocean breezes and open views. The cedar shingle cladding blends in with the historic neighborhood and benefits from l…
- [Tribeca Loft](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/tribeca-loft-pj-vj~1282526)
  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 5
  - Description: The client, a fashion photographer and magazine editor, wished to make this storefront into a gallery and a working photo studio. While the neighbors with similar lofts disregarded their basement spaces, we renovated the basement area by bringing light in through the spiral staircase as well as a glass ‘lightbox’ which doubles as a bench beneath the window. The mezzanine floor is made as thin as possible in order to gain height for a spacious office area behind a translucent glass railing. The m…
- [Modern Meadow](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/modern-meadow-pj-vj~6290741)
  - Location: Brooklyn, NY
  - Photos: 5
  - Description: Gut renovation of glass corner office in the historical building 128 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard for an acclaimed biotech startup. The warmth and minimalism of the contemporary interior design, such as modern light-reflecting wood work surfaces and soft pillows, contrasts with the existing brutalist backdrop of industrial steel. The new space includes three glass conference rooms, kitchen, entry and waiting areas, built-in benches running below the window strips, cabinetry, atelier tables and show…
- [Eco-Friendly Cottage in Long Island](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/eco-friendly-cottage-in-long-island-pj-vj~1842414)
  - Location: Southampton, NY
  - Photos: 10
  - Description: Gut renovation and addition of a 500 square foot historic shingled cottage. Due to the nearby wetlands, this landmarked site allowed for a mere 9’ x 17’ extension and a terrace. This small space was made to feel expansive by focusing on one large airy room with open triangulated ceiling that brings the exterior landscape inside. The west forgotten side of the property is activated by the wall of sliding doors. The dimensions of the interior floorboards repeat in the adjoining terrace’s exterior…
- [New York Apartment](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/new-york-apartment-pj-vj~1842403)
  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: Interior design of a Manhattan apartment. The open living/dining room features an extra-long built-in custom storage cabinet with a row of minimal white push-doors surmounted by a locally sourced walnut wooden slab with live-edge top, which is assembled in two pieces connected by a single robust finger joint. The minimal interiors and monotone palette of natural color tones serve as a backdrop to highlight the view of the Hudson river and downtown skyline. Furniture designed by Nina Edwards Anke…
- [Sag Harbord 1](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/sag-harbord-1-pj-vj~6290798)
  - Location: Sag Harbor, NY
  - Photos: 5
  - Description: New construction of a Sag Harbor residence located in the historic neighborhood. The modern, airy home is inspired by the client’s years living and surfing in Australia, with all-natural materials and minimal beige and grey beachy palette. The skillfully crafted wooden window and door frames are handmade by the Australian builder, who also fabricates wooden surfboards. The windows and skylights are strategically placed to amplify light and frame specific views. The basement is made to feel large…

- [Montauk House](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/montauk-house-pj-vj~6290876)
  - Location: Montauk, NY
  - Photos: 2
  - Description: Renovation and addition of a 60’s Montauk residence. Home and studio space for an artist and surfer, her friends and family. Limited by strict local building codes, we added a discrete skylight to a leftover storage space under the attic rafters, turning it into an office/guestroom with desk nook and fold-out couch. We also modernized the interiors, as well as the bathrooms with contemporary polished chrome fixtures, glass shower walls and bright white ceramic surfaces to reflect the incoming da…
- [East Village Apartment](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/east-village-apartment-pj-vj~6292178)
  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 5
  - Description: Renovation and décor of a historic East Village apartment. The main aim was to uplift and counterpoint the existing 19th century interiors, including working brick fireplace, wooden window frames, black-and-white bath tiles and stone hallway floor, with contemporary glossy reflective surfaces such as stainless steel side tables with glass-blown lamps and large mirror. White or light-colored natural textiles freshen the interiors of the apartment, which is made brighter by lifting the hallway cei…

- [Rock Cabin](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/rock-cabin-pj-vj~1320034)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 2
  - Description: Made of local stone and timber, its roof covered with solar panels, this cabin is based on its surroundings in an environmentally friendly manner. All existing trees and rocks are preserved. The cabin is heated by the sun's energy and cooled by natural ventilation. This green cabin with panoramic views over the fjord towards both south and east grows from the rocky site from which it emerges. Formed and positioned like one of the 'svalberg' rocks itself, it rises up from out of the landscape and…
- [Long Hytte](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/long-hytte-pj-vj~2688438)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 4
  - Description: This addition and renovation of a historic 18th-century Norwegian cabin or ‘hytte’ by the fjord connects the living space to the surrounding landscape through a new glass façade and terrace. At the opposite side of the cabin, a path by the entry door leads to an outdoor shower inside a rocky cliff, carved by an ancient ice slide. The interiors of the long narrow space are liberated to provide a view from one end of the cabin to the other.
- [Big Dipper](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/big-dipper-pj-vj~6292474)
  - Location: The Bronx, NY
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: On the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Bronx Exposition of Science, Art and Industries in Starlight Park, in collaboration with acclaimed artist Amy Pryor, nea studio was selected among eight other teams and awarded a grant from the Bronx River Art Center and NYC Parks to build a functional seating/lighting installation titled Big Dipper Bench. This art installation consists of seven solar-powered stars on wooden block pedestals, connected by six benches. The shape and style of this ill…
