> Avoid! Terrible company with unskilled laborers! Capital’s quote was much higher than the competition’s but they stated it was due to “quality” and reputation. Paid over $40,000 for yard drainage system and pavers with substandard work and then was gaslighted, took zero responsibility. Project took months and remains unsatisfactory with the added bonus of being ghosted as they received payment. Have an attorney go over contracts for project itself and financing due to crafty manipulation on Capital’s part. Run, run, run!

> I had asked Capital to come give us an estimate on a renovation of our 2nd floor early in 2018. The sales representative came to our house 4 times bringing with him a plumber and electrician on two of those visits. Communication remained strong, while taking quite a bit of time, until it came time for the final bid. We were expecting a visit to go over our final bid when the sales rep cancelled our meeting and then went dark and has not responded to multiple emails, phone calls and text messages. Complete disregard for my time with all of the meetings and back and forth correspondence when they wouldn't come back with any figures for the work. Capital is marketing everywhere and spending money to make a name for themselves, but as a potential customer I am left with a feeling of disappointment and word of mouth might be their best form of marketing, unfortunately I can not be one to recommend at all.

> Capital Construction was unlike other contractors I contacted for repairing my roof--they showed up on time, brought a ladder, was professional, and provided a detailed and reasonable estimate. Seems like a low bar but unreachable by others. Once they got going on the job, they moved rapidly and finished on time. There were no surprises and no cost overruns. I would absolutely use them again and recommend them to anyone needing this type of work in the Boston area.

**★★★★★ — Shelby Larsson, Nov. 2017**

> Excellent service, excellent communications. From the first moment I engaged Capital Construction for my project, I was very impressed with the level of communication and respect for my time. The crews showed up on time, did excellent work, and cleaned up beautifully at the end of each day. Could not recommend more!

**★ — Zach Hallam, Oct. 2017**

> Poor communication and followup. Job was done on their own timeline and didn't stick to the original schedule at all. Was considered a small side job (even though I paid 5 figures!). Job crew did not know scope of the job, left the site dirty (trimmings and cigarette butts everywhere), ladder damaged railings and even used my own trash can as a cement mixer leaving 50+ pounds of dried cement in it. We chose this company based off of good reviews, but we definitely fell through the cracks. Its a disappointment since we chose them over lower priced bids!

**Comment from Capital Construction Contracting Inc.:**

> Thanks for your response, We do apologize that your experience was less than stellar with Capital Construction Contracting Inc. Our office will reach out to you to discuss, Again we sincerely apologize and will work to correct this in a timely fashion. Regards David.

> We hired Capital Construction to install James Hardie siding on our house. They replaced old cedar plank siding, replaced our bulkhead with a buildout, replaced our front door and installed new gutters. We were very happy with the end result, the house looks amazing. Random neighbors have stopped over just to tell us that our house looks great. The Capital Construction team was excellent from beginning to end. The crew was at the house every morning at the expected time and worked full days until the project was completed. They would setup every morning and cleanup every evening so that we didn’t have to navigate over the equipment every day. We were kept informed on a daily basis of the progress and any concerns by Scott Lynch who was the project manager who was at the house working with the crew every day. We had a couple of miscommunications between us and the office, but the status provided to use by Scott was always right. We had a couple of issues after the fact where we contact Capital to alert them to the small issues. They responded immediately, and Dave Dicarlo from the Capital team even came over on the weekend to address an issue. We would recommend Capital Construction to any of our friends and family. They were professional and a pleasure to work with.

**★★★★★ — John Rose, Aug. 2017**

> My experience with Capital construction was great. They were very respectful, courteous, and efficient. I wanted an outdoor deck for the summer and they came out and build exactly what I imagined. The quality of the products & craftsmanship used is great. It's almost the end of summer and it still looks brand new. The outdoor paint used on-the-go deck is showing no signs of aging. I know it's fairly soon to judge the longevity of the paibt but I'm feeling confident it will last a while. I'm looking to do an addition on my master bedroom and sure will be contacting for an estimate. Their customer service team is great as well. It's a win/win on customer experience. I recommend.

**★★★★★ — Kathleen Sheehan-King, July 2017**

> We had the roof replaced, and from the time we walked in their office to discuss the type and color, to the time they came down and installed the roof in one day, we were impressed by their friendliness, professionalism, and work quality! The attention to detail was amazing. They actually cleaned up every piece of debris, so much so that the driveway looked better than when they started. I would highly recommend Capital!

> The guys at Capital completely remodeled the front facade and replaced the rubber roof on our restaurant, "The Industry" at 750 Adams Street in Dorchester MA. The work was top quality, the crews were friendly and efficent. I would definitely recommend Capital Construction Contracting to my friends and family
> Nice Job Capital!

> I've used Capital many times for siding, roofing and general contracting projects. They're reliable and deliver as promised, on time. It can be concerning to execute projects on your home. But it makes all the difference when you have a contractor like Capital who's trustworthy. The owner Dave is very engaged in his company and that is reflected in the talent he hires. They are conscientious, tidy, professional and friendly.

> We put on a new roof, roof deck, roof deck hatch, and re-pointed our chimneys. Capital was great! From the planning phase, to permitting, to the quality of work during construction to follow up, Dave and his team were incredibly helpful. We will surely use them again on future projects.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Must haves for kitchen cabinets?** *(in Building a Home)*

Hello there, I'm building a new home and I'm in the process of picking cabinets. What are your recommended must haves in a kitchen? I want my kitchen to be practical and organized, with a designated space for everything. I do have a pantry as well. Thanks for your help!

A: Agreed you need is a good Kitchen designer. They can utilize your space to the maximum. Without a doubt , money well spent!

**Q: Most recent decor purchase for your home?** *(in Home Decorating)*

This could be a simple accent piece for your coffee table or choosing a new refrigerator. What's the most recent item you purchased for your home decor?

Tell us! (photos encouraged)

A: We recently purchased a beautiful leather ottoman which blends perfectly with our leather 3 piece suite of furniture. The fact that it is not an exact match gives a great dimension to our living room space .

**Q: Need suggestions for backsplash for busy granite** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I love my granite in my kitchen, but not the orange backsplash that the previous owners installed. I would like the backsplash to be more neutral and draw your eyes to the granite and also tone down all the orange. Attached is a picture of what I currently have. I do not know the name of the granite. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A: I would suggest a cream textured tile, exactly what you said. 'not too busy'. This will make your granite pop and add some flair to your kitchen.

**Q: Help Please! Opinion re. grout color for gray floor** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have a very tiny bathroom (4x9). The 12"x24" gray tile will be on the bathroom floor and the 2x2 on my shower floor. Shower walls will be a white dolomite looking tile (w/ soft gray movement). I'm thinking either Smoke Grey (on the right) or Sterling Silver (on the left). The grout lines will be thin. Grout suggestions would be much appreciated! I can’t visualize the finished look and I am definitely overthinking this!
Oh..and I am using a different grout (silver shadow) on the shower walls with the white tile. Not sure that needs to enter into the decision.

A: Smoked Grey will definitely show more of a contract between your tile and grouting .
I think this would be your best choice.

**Q: Christmas overload or is this okay ?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Navy walls, I think I love the garland .. but not 100% ... wondering if it is all just too much .

A: Its Christmas, and your decor is all about personal preference. its not a fixed piece in your home for years to come, its only 1 month of the year. Enjoy and have fun with it:)
