**Q: Emergency! - Drawer depth decision mid installation** *(in Kitchens)*

We are mid installation on our custom cabinets. Workers get here in an hour. Need help fast!
Blum drawer slides only come in 3" increments. Our counter depth drawers are next to our 24" deep sub-zero.
In design phase cabinet maker said our drawers were really shallow at 13.5" interior drawer space. I agreed and gave go ahead to make them deeper. Now I realize that I agreed to making not only the whole pantry unit 27.5", but they also built the side wall to the fridge unit and the over fridge cabinet 27.5" deep too.
A major point of getting sub-zero 24" deep fridge was to have on floor space in our narrow, city row house kitchen.
If they cut the units back to be flush with the sub-zero, not only are the drawers shallow, but there is 5" of dead drawer space at the back because the Blum closures only come in 3" increments.
5" dead space in a small kitchen is irritating me. Not having counter depth drawers and side panel on a counter depth fridge is also bothering me. Is there a third solution I am missing?
What to do?

A: As a custom cabinet maker... wtf? Lol. So... you have been told that your drawer depth will be 13.5” in a 24” deep cabinet?

**Q: Kitchen Backsplash** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I need help finding the right subway tile for my Wilsonart Winter Carnival countertop.  It is busy so looking for something plain.  So many shades of tan out there.  Looking at Florida tile Retroclassique in Mocha but it looks so shaded (dark/light).  Would like to know if it would go with my countertop or any other suggestions.  Thanks.

A: We use winter carnival a lot and typically clients chose a cream subway tile. You could look for something that has a texture or unique shape but a solid color. Definitely do not do a heavy pattern, a tiny sized, or a mix of glass, etc.

Keep it classy. A cream subway is your best bet.

**Q: What method do you use to get high resolution photos on website?** *(in Polls)*

Hello! I am having issues transferring high quality photos onto my website. I am taking photos of beautiful kitchens with my digital camera and they're coming out great (Nikon camera). I then transfer them to my phone using the Nikon Wireless Mobile utility app. I then go to email them to myself and then when I go to view them on my computer -- the quality is totally lost! I have also tried uploading to Google Drive and am finding the same issue. What is the best method of keeping the high quality of your photos?

A: Hi Maddi, I am with Kate on this one. A couple of things we should clarify:

1\. What website platform do you use?
2\. Why are you managing your website from a phone? 

We take all of our photos with a Canon camera, edit them in Adobe Lightroom and upload them to our website and have no issues. We do create a "Web Optimized" Folder in each of our projects main folder with a copy of all the photos saved to a web-friendly size. We do the resizing in Photoshop.

**Q: Ideas for how to fix ugly inlay without ripping up travertine??** *(in Polls)*

A: Sorry for the bad news but its unlikely you can get just the inlay up without disturbing the travertine. You would still be stuck with the same inlay pattern as well. Best to pull the whole thing up or live with it until you can pay someone to do remove and install a new floor.

**Q: knockdown texture walls** *(in Polls)*

I bought a 1964 brick home that has seen many wall treatments over the years such as  multiple wallpaper and paint layers on uneven walls.  I applied drywall plaster and did knockdown design on kitchen and dining room walls and it looks great and expensive.  Now trying to decide to do doorway and living room, pretty much rest of living area walls, is that too much?  Easy way to cover imperfections, any comments?

Where should this exposed beam “end” visually?

A: I would leave the beam, remove the partition wall underneath and open up the stairwell access. The beam is the support so no need for the wall (unless your local building code says different)
