Upon inquiry to the seller/installer, rather than offering a potential remedy (which IS available) the GM assumed a defensive posture and claimed that this was normal contraction. He based this contention on a picture and knowing that this was a seasonal home, although we maintain a temperature of 52 degrees when the home is unoccupied. Research indicates that such gapping is well beyond industry standards. The floor also shows many bumps and surface irregularities, indicating inadequate floor preparation. They offered to come to have a look, but it was obvious from his response that nothing was going to be done to remedy the issues. Not wanting to perpetuate his argumentative and somewhat condescending tone, I chose to address the issue on my own. I also contacted the manufacturer, Karndean Design Flooring, but received no response. I would not recommend Prescott Flooring Brokers in Prescott Arizona! **★ — Greg Henning, Jan. 2025** > We are very dissatisfied with our Rigid Core Korlock Product. After less than 3 years the planks started to "cup" dramatically. When we suggested it was a problem with the product Karndean made us jump through hoops and tear up flooring at our expense and send it to them. They did not stand behind their product and their warranty. Floor looked great at first. It cupped so badly that we were literally tripping over the seams in spots. Claims department did not return my calls. > > This company is a joke. I reached out to them to get a small financial assistance for the boards they required me to ship back for inspection and have new flooring installed. It appears they don't stand behind product and dare unhappy customers to sue in Small Claims. **★ — JD4320, Dec. 2022** > We went with the Texas White Ash Korlok and unfortunately had a bad experience. We love the look of it, its really beautiful, but we are entirely dissatisfied with the quality of the product. I've had planks de-laminating and gaping. I paid top dollar for this floor and installed it in 80% of my house. I've had to open 2 claims in relation to planks de-laminating within the first year and had professional installers come in TWICE to replace the planks. Now another plank came loose and I'm on the my third claim. I'm to the point where I want the entire floor ripped out and replaced. But unfortunately they are just ignoring me. Besides, its really hard to keep clean and not as robust as we expected it to be. Some gaps up to 1/4 inch. Karndean of course blames the installer which I know they followed instructions to the letter, and the floor acclimated correctly. The old maple strip planks floor buckled in the middle from water damage. It worked great with the system we followed. I'm very please with the look and durability. **★★ — shelley graham, July 2021** > We installed about 1300 sq ft of the loose lay in Boston in our house and are disappointed with the product. We can’t seem to get it clean. There is always a haze or such on the floor. You can see past footsteps etc on the floor even after washing. I have tried different mops and cleaning methods and nothing helps. Karndean cleaners aren’t available in Ontario! Canada so not sure if they would help but the company’s own website sells these as easy to clean = water or water and vinegar. It's a fantastic product that wears really well and is well priced. I put it in my personal home, as well as many clients, and the durability is great. Looks great too. I will also add, as someone who is sensitive to smells, the pressure sensitive glue that is used does not have a chemical smell and dissipates very quickly. We dose it over hardwood or laminate because we wanted a product that could stand up to moisture and wear and tear. One of our guests even left the sliding door open and several inches of snow piled up on our floor. Our flooring looks so awesome that friends of ours who jwas st purchased a chance nod next to ours are putting in Karndean as well. In all cases, my clients were unfamiliar with the product but when shown the samples and when I explained the benefits they were convinced. For example, when I renovated a large kitchen with existing white porcelain tile flooring and replaced it with MLC08 Atomic 16" squares from the Michelangelo collection, the kitchen was transformed. I used narrow silver coloured accent strips to imitate grout lines and the effect was of a shining silver grid floating on a textured dark base. It's so comfortable underfoot and easy to clean and anybody who sees it for the first time is captivated by it since it's so different and so beautiful. > This spring I renovated one of the bathrooms in this same home and put a vinyl plank (glue-down) on the floor. The contractor had never seen such a product and was amazed at how the sleek modern bathroom was grounded with such warmth and comfort. It's a greyed brown colour and fashionable and timeless at the same time. > At another client's home, we took down walls to make it open-concept. Rather than putting a small patch of tile at the entrance, I ran the medium brown wood pattern vinyl planks (glue-down) from the front door, through the living and dining rooms and into the kitchen for a seamless effect that made the place look spacious and fresh. Easy maintenance is a huge bonus but the look of it is what sold the clients. Again, they had no idea that such a product existed, and are very happy with the result. > Karndean offers a myriad of choices of pattern and colour and glue-down products as well as loose-lay. It's one of my favourite flooring suppliers and I've had no problems with them whatsoever.
