> Signed the contract and paid the deposit last April with the hope that the new home will be built some time in summer (this was somewhat a promise by the sales person). Unfortunately nothing happened in the past 12 months and there was literally no communication/explanation about the delay. Last month, the builder reached out and informed me that the new home will be built soon provided that I pay them 18% extra based on the agreed price. Lumber price fell almost 50% from the highs and now you tell me the price increase was due to higher material cost?! Total BS! Not honoring the contract is disgraceful but you made it sound like you are fully entitled to do so. You claim you don't want to loose money building this home but who is there to compensate my loss by letting you take my deposit for free for 12 months and seeing other home prices and mortgage rate go up like crazy in 2022. What is the contract for in the first place and why bother signing a contract???
>
> At last, I took my deposit back and decided to expose this builder. Folks work hard and try to buy themselves a new home should never experience what I've been through. Company with such a bad reputation and management better go out of business soon for good!!!

> This builder is absolutely terrible. They have had extremely poor communication throughout my home-buying process. I signed my original contract with them in March. It is now September and I have no construction drawings. I was told 10-12 months for construction and they are not possibly reaching 12 months if they actually followed through today. They have had extremely poor communication. I have been following up with them for months and nothing. They still haven't done anything and I finished everything on my side as quickly as possible - contract signing, mortgage approval, down payment given, interior selection done, etc. I've worked in the home building industry and I've built a home with another builder before so I am very aware of how this all works. This builder has been absolutely unaccountable and not been following through. Buyer beware! I would never build with them again. I wanted a specific neighbourhood and they were unfortunately the only choice at the time.

> Not so happy with the customer service. We put a reasonable offer to the house but we feel there is a barrier in communication. The sales person does not put our say effectively. Instead he acts like he has done so much for us while he is simply doing his job..

**★ — David Norton, Sept. 2019**

> Very rude sales staff. We experienced similar attitudes from 2 different show homes of their's. Their floor plans seem quite nice, but we were quickly put off after speaking to multiple people, both in and out of their show homes, who have expressed (passionately) how regrettable their experience has been. Problems galore, by their accounts. From what I've read/heard, I'm inclined to believe it. Just visit their facebook page. Ouch!

> A house in Cameron Heights
> Builders review in Edmonton
> My family and I moved into our beautiful house 6 years ago. Still love it. Marcson Homes was a very good company to deal with. All deficiencies were addressed in good time frame. We didn't have any major issues like I heard from people who used different builders. I found a couple minor things while renovating my basement . Even though warranty was expired, Marcson Homes fixed them for me with no charge. I am very satisfied with Marcson Homes.

> Love my Georgia 2 built by Marcson Homes! We had a very friendly, pleasant experience building with them. Our sales lady Kim Prkusic has been a gem. From the beginning, she listened to all our wishes, tried to accommodate and customize to our needs to the best of her ability. Marcson Homes is very fortunate to have her in their team. I am so happy we chose Marcson to build our dream home. We just love our gorgeous, beautiful new home. Anyone who wants to build a house with a big heart should look nowhere else other than Marcson.

**Comment from Marcson Homes Ltd.:**

> Thank you for the wonderful review. We are so happy you love your home.

> I just finished building my house with Marcson Homes and all I can say is that it was incredible. All the concerns I had with the house were fixed right away, and they kept me informed every step of the way. I will strongly recommend this company to anyone.

> We are so happy that you enjoyed your building experience with Marcson Homes. Thank you for your great review!

**★ — Eteen T., Jan. 2016**

> Our build process was LESS THAN SMOOTH OR SATISFACTORY with Marcson. The excavation started 4+ months after contracts were drawn up and blueprints completed. As Marcson does not yet have a design center, we visited each supplier individually and found different/changed blueprints from the one we were provided with. We caught numerous mistakes during the construction process - which they eventually corrected after numerous emails and pictures were sent to prove the mistakes. However, the experience really told us that they should not address themselves as a 'master builder' as all the mistakes made were the things we made changes to one of their existing floor plans. As if structural mistakes weren't enough, we were (what seemed like) forced to take possession at their possession date with an incomplete house. Many electrical, plumbing and cabinets were wrong. IN ADDITION, a major water leak occurred only 2 weeks after possession.
>
> TO TOP IT ALL OFF, Marcson's lack of consideration for its customers during the repair process is baffling. In 25 days since possession date, we've had to accommodate trades for 16 - forcing us to reschedule medical appointments and shuffle work schedules, etc. Members of our family have developed rashes as a result. ONLY when asked, Marcson offered to clean up the property AFTER all the work is completed - treating this occupied private residence as a construction zone again. The service department referred us to communicate to their President and CEO, Alphose Pillon. It's now 3 days later (and counting) and we have not heard a single word back.
>
> We love our house, but will NOT build with or recommend Marcson (at the moment) to anyone looking to buy/build. We are not contractors but felt like we were supervising our own build throughout the process - what's the point of paying a so-called 'professional' then?

**Comment from Marcson Homes Ltd.:**

> You're right! That really does sound like a horrible experience and we are sorry that you feel this way.
>
> We really do care about our customers and have many happy and satisfied customers. People today tend to have very busy lives, so unless there is a complaint, it is very hard to get our reviews to reflect this.
>
> Although it may be too late to change your buying experience, let us prove to you in the next few months that we would like to make it up to you. Please call us today to find out how we can do this.
>
> Sincerely,
> MARCSON HOMES

> Marcson homes is not able to keep up with its promises and not able to deliver on time at all. Lots of issues with office staff not being able to do their job properly. Issues with blueprint and suppliers. We are on 19th month and still incomplete. After possession, it was like living in a home that was going through renovation. Very slow in getting things done. I don't see the effort that should be made.

> I am glad that I am able to change my view of Marcson Homes. Yes we did have alot of issues but now I can say that Marcson homes eventually did try to rectify things. It did take time but now I have been very happy with the customer service and response provided. I am not able to give a 5 star just because of what we initially went thru. But a company who has tried to make amends and has being cooperative deserves a pat on the back. Now that my home is finally coming together, I am starting to fall in love with it again. I would like to mention that Kim Pkrusic had alot to do with me keeping my sanity together when things were at their worst and also a thank you to Helene and Dennis. I just hope that this kind of customer care continues with me and others

> Hello Poonam
>
> We have been out to your house in recent days. Please give us a chance to take care of the things we have discussed, because they will definitely be taken care of. Yes, your house did take a long time to build, but as you know it was partly because the land took a very long time to be developed. Rest assured, we will address all your concerns!
>
> For people who are looking to build a new home with us: we are changing. These negative reviews only help us strive to do better, phone us today to find out how this is happening!

> Hi Poonam
>
> In response to your last comment. We are aware that the trades did not show up to your house. You are, unfortunately, not the only customer in this type of industry to go through these disappointments. Regardless, please be advised that we are talking to our trade partners and expressing these concerns. Speaking on behalf of our company, we have been very professional! Responding to your concerns, meeting with you on several occasions, organizing trade appointments. We will continue to keep on working on getting your concerns dealt with in a timely manner.

> HORRIBLE experience - Strongly recommend you choose another builder. Marcson offered a $3,500 builder incentive so I signed an offer. Tentative possession date was six months later. I get building a house typically has delays. But, this site sat for over two months. Almost every addendum had a mistake (watch for double and over charges). Lost my great mortgage rate and incurred additional CMHC fees, costing me nearly $20,000. Builder refuses to compensate me and no longer is acknowledging the $3,500 builder incentive credit. Emails either go unanswered or take upwards of a month to be replied to (this has happened on a few occasions). Still waiting on possession. Home failed inspection twice so far. Bank now tells me Builder has indicated a possession - over a year since I signed. Please think twice before going with this builder.
>
> Thank you for the response below but I actually have reached out to Alphonse - several times and still no response.

**Comment from Marcson Homes Ltd.:**

> August 28, 2014 - We apologize for not getting back to you. Our office has moved in the last month and with the phones being switched over, your message was not received. I believe Alphonse has tried to call you, but unfortunately there is no voicemail to leave a message. If you could please continue to try him, I'm sure we can settle this matter. In advance, we thank you for your cooperation.
>
> We are very sorry you have had a negative experience with Marcson Homes, thus far. Please do know that we are diligently working to hand over a beautiful and safe home to you at possession time. We would like to hear from you and welcome you to call our President and CEO, Alphonse Pilon immediately to answer any of your concerns and questions. Failed inspections are, unfortunately, a part of building a home. There are so many different people that will work on your home that these things do sometimes happen. However, at possession, rest assured we will do our very best to meet and exceed your expectations. If you give us a call now, we can hopefully work on some of these matters before you move into your beautiful Marcson Home. Please call our office to talk to Alphonse at 780.466.8831. We look forward to speaking with you.

> We built a Marcson Homes in December 2012 and we could not be happier. We expected our home at the end of January 2013 but we asked if we could have it earlier and they made this happen for us. They were available when we had questions or concerns and truly seemed to care about our home. We love our Marcson Homes and would build with them again!

**★ — layne\_20, Sept. 2013**

> Marcson homes has a long way to go to be a master builder. We were promised our home in 6 months, it took more like 18 months. We have a possession for 6 months and there is still a todo list a mile long. We still don't have rough grade. We were missing our side walk for two months. The paint is spotty, there is lots of over spray on our cabinets. The exterior has a gaps with tyvek sticking out, holes in the siding from careless roofers, NAILS every where. There trades crews really don't care. I could go on for pages. I would strongly recommend getting several references before signing with these guys.

**Comment from Marcson Homes Ltd.:**

> Hello Marcson Client
> It is very unfortunate that your experience with us was not a positive one. Although we strive to hand over a perfect home at possession, this on occasion may not happen. However, we do have a service department that would gladly work with you to ensure your home meets yours and our expectations. Please call our office 780.466.8831 to schedule appointments with our trades and building partners and we can fix any deficiencies you may have. Or, email myself directly at mpilon@marcsonhomes.com. I hope that we can resolve your issues asap.
