**Q: Garage door** *(in Photo Questions)*

What brand of garage door did you use, or is it custom cladding?

A: It is indeed custom clad. It's actually quite a cheap solid wood swing-up door, with a motor strong enough to handle the added weight of the stained cedar.....pretty easy and economical, and gives a really lovely look.

**Q: HELP!!! Where can I find the metal tubing for the stair wall???** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Unfortunately, these are custom made.  Stainless rods can, however, be purchased, but the connections and couplings have to be custom made.

**Q: Love the orange mirror. Where canI get one like that?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Looking for a mirror just like that for our powder. Matches the color of tile.

A: My clients actually think it may have come from IKEA !!  See?? Good design CAN be cheap!  I'll let you know for certain if they find otherwise.

**Q: Handrails?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Doesn't the code require handrails even on residential stairs?

A: This photo was slyly taken before the inspection.  Yes, a handrail was added along the wall after the photo was taken.

**Q: Lateral resistance?** *(in Photo Questions)*

How does this stair resist lateral force? It must be in the connection to the wall, right? Some kind of steel moment connection that's wrapped in a finished tread?

A: Each step is cantilevered from the wall supported on solid steel plates that are angle stopped to the structural wall behind.
