**★★★★★ — Julie, Jan. 2026**

> We had an outstanding experience working with Jennifer and her team at Mise en Place Design on our laundry room renovation. From the very beginning, Jennifer truly listened to our wants and needs and translated them into a space that is both highly functional and beautifully designed. The space planning was incredibly thoughtful, making the room feel efficient, organized, and easy to use. Every detail felt intentional, and the process was smooth and collaborative throughout. The final result is a laundry room that makes doing laundry more enjoyable and provides lots and lots of storage. We highly recommend Mise en Place Design for anyone looking for exceptional design, professionalism, and attention to detail.

**★★★★★ — Lindsay Weaber, March 2025**

> We are absolutely thrilled with the results of our remodel and could not be more grateful for the incredible work done by Mise en Place Design! Our home was built in the early 1980s and in desperate need of some updates. Mise en Place Design was recommended by a coworker of mine and, after looking at their client portfolio, I knew this was who we needed to hire for the job.
>
> Our project was extensive for a rather small home, involving many layout changes (completely reworking the kitchen design, moving the laundry closet into an expanded powder bathroom, moving and expanding the size of the range, moving our TV over the brick fireplace, raising two sunken living rooms, replacing all flooring and trim, the list goes on). We had the pleasure of working with Jacinda, who was personable, professional and had great attention-to-detail. She quickly caught onto our design style and the final product is such a good mix of modern, rustic, Pacific Northwest style.
>
> Mise en Place Design services were absolutely worth the cost. To be able to see renderings of your design and continue to make changes until you are certain you will love the result was invaluable. The final product is beyond our expectations – it’s functional, beautiful, and we repeatedly look around and say to each other “I love our house”.
>
> We had some unfortunate challenges with our contractor and some of the material suppliers during the construction phase of our project. Jennifer and Jacinda were responsive and helped us navigate these difficult situations and conversations. They were our advocates, and we were thankful we had them there to help us.
>
> Almost our entire downstairs was reworked with this remodel project. We have yet to tackle our upstairs but are very much looking forward to enlisting the services of Mise en Place Design again and working along side Jacinda to freshen up our bedrooms and bathrooms. I know we are in good hands with Jacinda and the entire Mise en Place Design team!

> Wonderful showroom. Excellent design staff. Working with them on projects is a pleasure. Looking forward to the next one!!

**★ — HU-915568330, Jan. 2025**

> Unbelievably terrible--main designer (Jennifer) did not even bother to show up for the most essential meeting where we were to make major design choices, nor did she provide the samples she'd assured us she would have (this was a reoccurring problem with MEP). We didn't realize how problematic Mise En Place was until we changed to another designer who actually showed up when she said she would, easily produced deliverables and samples on time, and got us out of the jam Mise En Place left us in. MEP was a waste of (a lot of) money and time, and added unnecessary stress to our lives and to our contractor's process. We don't post negative reviews unless we feel the company warrants a warning to stay away.

**★★★★★ — Eric Dremel, Oct. 2024**

> We recently had the pleasure of working with the team at Mise En Place Design on a year-long project remodeling a kitchen, living room, laundry room and master bath in our condominium penthouse. We couldn’t be happier with the results!
>
> Our project faced numerous design challenges due to the building’s concrete structure. However, Mise en Place managed everything with skill and creativity. They offered innovative solutions to maximize our space and devised thoughtful workarounds for various design limitations. For instance, they skillfully navigated around post-tension cables encased in the concrete floor to relocate plumbing and designed around immovable concrete shear walls.
>
> One of the major advantages of working with Mise en Place is their ability to pair projects with their top-notch contractor partners. We unexpectedly lost the contractor they helped us select due to health reasons a few weeks before work was set to begin. Mise en Place swiftly connected us with two excellent alternatives. Thanks to their quick action and experience, our project was only delayed by two months.
>
> From the very beginning, Mise en Place was incredibly responsive, always available to address our concerns and provide updates. Their innovative solutions perfectly aligned with our lifestyle and design goals, enhancing the overall aesthetic of our space. We truly appreciated their collaborative and creative approach.
>
> What truly stood out when working with Mise en Place was their respect for our budget. Mise en Place created a stunning design without compromising on quality or exceeding our financial limits. The professionalism and dedication from the entire Mise en Place team made the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
>
> We highly recommend Mise en Place to anyone looking for a talented, resourceful and reliable interior designer. They transformed our condo into a beautiful and functional home that we absolutely love.

**★★★★★ — joanteed, May 2024**

> The team at Mise en Place, especially Courtney and Jenn, literally made our dreams come true... our dream kitchen. It is beautiful and beautifully designed, it is a show stopper, it looks like it should be on the pages of Architectural Digest Magazine, when my friends see it for the first time, they are stunned! I'm not exaggerating. I love it!!!

**★★★★★ — Susie Beil, March 2023**

> Jennifer and her team are so good at making things beautiful! They helped us transform an old, 60's style compartmentalized kitchen and living room into a gorgeous, open space that we love. We appreciated Jennifer's calm, capable manner in helping problem solve and think creatively.

**★★★★★ — jtadjedin, Jan. 2023**

> We hired Jennifer and her team to help us design and project manage a major overhaul of our cabin in Puget Sound. We re-did two bathrooms, added a half bath and completely gutted and renovated a very outdated kitchen. Jen, Katie and Courtney were amazing! Not only did they deliver everything beautifully, but they were fun and great to work! We were able to trust them to oversee and manage the project while we were long distance which was an amazing thing. Jen brought in her trusted contractor and he too overdelivered, not to mention was exceedingly professional and trustworthy. We are SO happy with the end result. I would highly recommend Mise en Place over and over again and would definitely hire them again myself!

**★★★★★ — Neil Hundt, Dec. 2022**

> Our full kitchen remodel was completed exactly to our vision from design to implementation, thanks to Jennifer and the team at Mise en Place Design. Jennifer's confidence never wavered and stood by her design to completion.Obstacles became better ideas instead of compromise.

**★★★★★ — Claude and Pam Abbott, Nov. 2022**

> We had two sad, very basic bathrooms that were clearly not at their potential. I was aware of Mise en Place and eager for help, and a friend’s gorgeous remodel convinced me it was time to upgrade. Jennifer and her team were upfront, professional, transparent, clearly communicated with us, listened, and provided ideas and creativity. Along with our amazing contractor, all deadlines were met and our bathrooms are bright, functional, beautiful gems! We are very happy and will recommend Mise en Place unreservedly!

**★★★★★ — Sue Van Dahlen, Nov. 2022**

> Jennifer, Katie & Courtney were all very helpful, professional & responsive. Provided help with contractors who needed to tweak their work. Would use again.

**★★★★★ — David Donnelly, Nov. 2022**

> I am very pleased to write this excellent review of the work done by the Mise en Place Design team and the supporting craftsman. The advice and counsel they all provided, in a frank yet professional manner was not only expected – but appreciated. We found it “easy” to talk/discuss with the team all aspects of this kitchen redesign effort. There is no apprehension or concern as we ask questions, get advice, etc.
>
> Compliments to the Mise en Place Team, along with all the craftsmen on their attention to detail, correcting and making things right (!), and asking us (in a roundabout way) – “do you really want that?” Funny what sounded good yesterday or on the drawing, but when put in perspective, not such a good idea today. Those questions I have been asked I found very applicable and the guidance and counsel I am receiving are excellent.
>
> The Mise en Place Design team’s advice concerning contractors is an excellent insight into the industry. And – at the end of the day, you know when one contractor, stops and takes the time to compliment another, things must be going well – and that was the case throughout this effort.
>
> The quality of the products suggested by the team was not only met, but exceeded. We, on our own, could simply have not selected such high-quality material.
>
> Thank you for having an excellent team of folks with such abilities.
> Dave

## Selected projects

- [Bright White & Blue](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/bright-white-and-blue-pj-vj~6783205)
  - Location: Seattle, WA
  - Photos: 33
  - Description: Such a big change from a dark, non functional kitchen and laundry to an open, bright space with plenty of useful storage! The homeowner had an established aesthetic of sea prints, light wood, and blues that we continued that into the material choices. We added gorgeous wood tops in the laundry room, a bold jelly fish print in the powder, new windows in the kitchen and a beautiful wood slider that opens up to the view outside.
- [Bayview Industrial](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/bayview-industrial-pj-vj~6726666)
  - Location: Port Orchard, WA
  - Photos: 31
  - Description: Letting things speak for themselves… Such a fun project. This gorgeous space spurred from the homeowners desire to keep the historical feeling of their 1918 home alive while also doing a much needed update. We opened up the space by removing a central wall, replaced the old windows with larger new ones to take advantage of the view, along with adding a new Dutch door that leads to a new deck. The challenges came from an existing, and original, radiator heat system, old masonry chimney, and arche…
- [Industrial Farmhouse](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/industrial-farmhouse-pj-vj~5634100)
  - Location: Gig Harbor, WA
  - Photos: 22
  - Description: We're moving out! Literally! This kitchen was originally half this size with an equally small dining area, no counter space, and awkward storage. So out we went! Where the white cabinetry area is now used to be a flat wall. It was pushed out as a new addition 10' or so to create a new kitchen space that separated the dining area. Style wise, it was super fun to play with the idea of farm house meets industrial in a century old farm house The owner was keen to keep the historic elements of her ho…
- [Happy Vibes + Traditional Tastes](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/happy-vibes-traditional-tastes-pj-vj~5948366)
  - Location: Bainbridge Island, WA
  - Photos: 55
  - Description: This home went from boring 90’s style, dated fixtures, and a completely non functional master bathroom, to a home that is open, bright, with some fun pops of color. We renovated this entire home to make better use of the existing floor space and to allow more light in. In the downstairs, removing the dining room walls made the space feel much larger. The kitchen was updated along with the downstairs bathroom and powder room to better suit the homeowners needs. In the upstairs, changes were more…
- [Farmhouse Spa](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/farmhouse-spa-pj-vj~6395918)
  - Location: Bremerton, WA
  - Photos: 24
  - Description: This bathroom went from busy and dated to a bright spacious farmhouse spa. The porcelain floor tile gives the look and feel of natural wood placed in the herringbone pattern also helps create the perfect farmhouse touch. The matte black details and glossy white tile design help create a high impact contrast, making this bathroom bright and inviting.
- [Seabeck Beach Home](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/seabeck-beach-home-pj-vj~6511142)
  - Location: Seattle, WA
  - Photos: 18
  - Description: A much needed update for this now bright beach house, the original kitchen was dark, dated, and lacked practical storage. Our design opens up the kitchen to the dining room helping create space for a slighting larger island, cabinets that go to the ceiling, designated work spaces. We moved the entry to the kitchen which helped create a more workable functioning layout, the kitchen now has a designated prep, pantry, and message space. New hardwood flooring throughout replacing travertine tile was…

Reclaimed wood, clean white subway tile, shiplap and a perfect beach color scheme make this beach house a family's dream. Remodeled from the ground up this house had endless possibilities. This Puget Sound house has an amazing water view, lots of natural light, and an industrial modern style perfect for entertaining. The fireplace features custom reclaimed wood and amazing tile work. Simple clean white cabinetry in the kitchen with…
- [Bright + Urban](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/bright-urban-pj-vj~5673874)
  - Location: Bremerton, WA
  - Photos: 18
  - Description: A much needed kitchen upgrade, lack of storage, bad lighting, and not enough counter space. This kitchen was due for not just modern upgraded fixtures, but upgraded space! We utilized the large space and designed a floor plan that included a kitchen island. Creating a central gathering area with the island helps keep the bulk of the entertaining space out of the way but still welcome to the kitchen. Cultural inspired tile and grey toned wood paneling on the island add a lot of personality to the…
- [Eldorado Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/eldorado-kitchen-pj-vj~6003346)
  - Location: Bremerton, WA
  - Photos: 30
  - Description: This kitchen didn’t suffer from lack of storage but rather lack of personality. The homeowner didn’t care for the light wood finish or the cabinets on top of the counter, as she felt it took away valuable counterspace. But most importantly, it didn’t reflect the style of the home or her own tastes. We were able to make better use of the storage and add some counter space while keeping the fixtures where they were, and added some fun trendy looks to keep the look updated and fresh. The pops of bl…
- [Woodsy + Bold Beach Tones](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/woodsy-bold-beach-tones-pj-vj~6395623)
  - Location: Poulsbo, WA
  - Photos: 26
  - Description: Remodels are so much fun when the husband is a master wood worker who added beautiful custom finishes to this Poulsbo WA beach house. The cabinets were a dated light oak that lacked practical storage so we created specific zones for baking, cooking, coffee, and cocktails. The island grew making plenty of room for prepping and entertaining. Naval blue cabinets and clean white countertop make the space feel bright, clean, and inviting. The mix of dark hardwood flooring, glass backsplash, and stain…

  - Description: This Hood Canal Beach house went from cramped and gloomy with a lack of storage to bright and practical with endless use for this multiple family vacation home. Using space from the adjacent office room we opened up the kitchen and created practical work areas. Now equipped with a baking nook, two tall double pantries, bar area, and an island with endless counter space. The light colored cabinets and bright white appliances make this kitchen feel clean and inviting. This beach house is not only…
- [Dark Night Farmhouse](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/dark-night-farmhouse-pj-vj~6318297)
  - Location: Poulsbo, WA
  - Photos: 26
  - Description: What wonders a fresh coat of paint did to this kitchen remodel in Poulsbo, WA. The clients love the casual country farmhouse style that already existed in their home but seeking a overall refresh. The kitchen is the heart of their home: eating, cooking, and entertaining of all sizes. Given all best efforts everyone seemed to congregate at the kitchen island so we took on the task of revamping this outdated country home. Oak stained cabinets painted dark night blue and a beautiful white quartz co…

  - Description: This newly retired couple loves to travel and has a house filled with art and memorabilia that is filled with stories of travel, history, and culture. They have an eclectic style that is not limited by a particular color palette, pattern, style, or material, but it is a mixture of extravagant decorations from numerous ages. The mixture of modern appliances and antique decorations complete the space and make for a great conversation starter. Once before this kitchen was small and cramped is now o…
- [Farmhouse Vintage](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/farmhouse-vintage-pj-vj~5664455)
  - Location: Silverdale, WA
  - Photos: 19
  - Description: Fresh update while keeping the old time charm. This kitchen was once a small kitchen that lacked storage. The goal was to utilize space, create a overall functional flow, while updating the look. The challenge was to create more useful storage, counter space, and bring their personalities in without changing the footprint of the room. Utilizing the height of the room was key in maximizing their storage. Super tall cabinets brought in some height that draws your eyes upward. The roll-outs in the…
- [Black + White](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/black-white-pj-vj~5634098)
  - Location: Port Orchard, WA
  - Photos: 15
  - Description: Simple updates can make a big difference! Our focus here was to change up the look and add storage while not moving around the plumbing or venting. The sink and stove stayed put. The pantry and refrigerator swapped spaces to give more entry space into the kitchen from the front door. The biggest change came from adding a built-in bank of cabinets in the dining room to act as a buffet for serving as well as needed storage. We brightened up the whole space by choosing white cabinets, light wood co…
- [Small and Sophisticated](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/small-and-sophisticated-pj-vj~5586514)
  - Location: Hansville, WA
  - Photos: 13
  - Description: Small space with high style... This beauty gained a classy new look, function, and storage. All without growing in square footage. The main goal here was to create better function but not move the existing plumbing or appliance locations to save on cost. As is our way, we also wanted to make a big change in look and create some drama. We started by reorganizing the storage to better suit the accessibility of everyday used items. We also opted to utilize a Euro style refrigerator, which is taller…
- [Station Circle](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/station-circle-pj-vj~4592867)
  - Location: Port Orchard, WA
  - Photos: 14
  - Description: Fresh update with organic textures... This super cute kitchen was once a typical 90's style kitchen with cabinetry that lacked personality, were too small, and didn't provide useful storage. The homeowner really enjoyed cooking and just felt like nothing was working. The challenge was to create more useful storage, counter space, and bring their personalities in without changing the footprint of the room. Utilizing the height of the vault was key in maximizing their storage. So up we went! Super…
- [Fairwood Family Home](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/fairwood-family-home-pj-vj~2902761)
  - Location: Bremerton, WA
  - Photos: 27
  - Description: More open kitchen and living space for a big family... For this project, the goal was to open things up. There were walls everywhere and you couldn't see from one side of the room to the other. This was a problem for the homeowner as she also operates an in home daycare for small children. By opening up the walls that surrounded the central kitchen, the downstairs became one large room. We added a half wall at the end of the kitchen space to separate the daycare area from the home but added some…
- [Modern Farmhouse Style for a Growing Family](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/modern-farmhouse-style-for-a-growing-family-pj-vj~1642653)
  - Location: Poulsbo, WA
  - Photos: 19
  - Description: This project was a culmination of creating better function while also maintaining the homeowners very vibrant personality. They had a need to create a much larger kitchen for themselves, kids, and grand-kids, and to keep the overall feel of each adjoining space inclusive to the next. The homeowner had a deep love of color that originally felt like it took over the space. We kept the teal and toned down the yellow to a soft, pale yellow to let the white and teal be the focus. The dark hardwood an…

  - Location: Silverdale, WA
  - Photos: 10
  - Description: A much needed, fun, modern upgrade... The classic problem in the 1970's house: cramped kitchen, bad lighting, not enough counter space. This kitchen was due for not just modern upgraded fixtures, but upgraded space! The homeowners love to entertain and felt like they were missing out, having to cook in the sequestered kitchen. By removing the wall between the kitchen, dining, and living rooms, as well as the dropped ceiling in the kitchen, the space felts twice as big! Creating a central gatheri…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Bathtub** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi. I am looking for a japanese soaking tub and was hoping you could provide detailed information on the brand and size of the tub used in this bathroom. Thank you.

A: They don't have the same one we used before but this one is close: https://www.signaturehardware.com/bathroom/bathtubs/japanese-soaking-tubs/42-siglo-round-japanese-soaking-tub.html

**Q: What type of countertops did you use?** *(in Photo Questions)*

We are remodeling out kitchen with a farmhouse style. We opened the wall between the kitchen and dining room, and we're installing an island with the big farmhouse sink. The counter will be butcher block for the island, but looking to do black for the other counters. Definitely looking for suggestions on types! Thanks so much.

A: This is Silestone Tebas Black quartz. Good luck with your project!

**Q: Love the look! Can you tell me the make and color of the countertop?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I am remodeling my kitchen and really like the look of this countertop.

A: Thanks! This is Cambria Darlington.

**Q: Where is the "steampunk"pulley pendant from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I would love this for my kitchen remodel over a finished slab table.

A: Thanks for the question! I believe this was from Lamps Plus. You can find similar ones there or from Wayfair as well. I'm not sure if this exact one is still available. This one is cool too: Kaci 3 Light

**Q: What color are the walls?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hey there! I honestly don't remember but I can ask the client to see if they have it written down.

**Q: Love the tile backdrop? What type/color is it? Thanks.** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: That was from Designer Tile and Stone but I can't find it on their website. It's a glass 3 x 6 subway. Emser Tile has some nice ones that are similar. Emser Lucente
