Really, it was just a notion of what we wanted. After taking a look, Chris guided us through what was possible within our specs, aesthetic and budget. When we realized an issue about mid-way through, Chris was able to make a minor adjustment in order to make the table work. Then we threw a curve, we decided at the last minute we needed detachable legs. Chris accommodated this without hesitation or impact on delivery. It's a delight to see, touch and feel each piece--when I open and shut a drawer, I can feel the exceptional quality by the way the drawer feels, how it fits perfectly in its space. I have been sketching pedestal base ideas for my nook table for some time now and this design is very similar to what I've been considering. My tabletop is stainless steel and rectangular in shape-- soI would need two of these bases or perhaps a hybrid with the two posts joined by a cross piece or a flat bar on the floor. Would you be able to make a custom base and ship it to california? What are the dimensions of your base? Thanks. A: Hello! Thanks for reaching out. Of course I could build a hybrid and get it shipped to you. This particular base is 1/2" x 2 1/2" carbon steel, the top is 36x36. I believe the footprint of the steel is 30x30. Is it easy? What's the best way to make the cement floor? A: Cement is very durable if done properly. This floor is an overlay meaning that a new layer was poured on top of the existing. Spending extra money for a durable finish would be a good investment. Fairly easy to pour and trowel out if you practice on something else beforehand. I highly recommend a bonding agent on the substrate if you pour a new layer. Not only will this improve the bond of the layers, it will help seal the substrate to prevent it from absorbing the moisture out of the concrete you're working and add to the concrete's working time. Remember that it is a porous material. It will stain and react to acids if not cared for properly. Overall it holds up as well as most types of flooring.
