My wife and I utilized Sound Harbor Development, LLC on two separate occasions. The first project involved the design, demolition and construction of a bathroom as well as several ancillary projects, which included the installation of several new doors, conversion to LED lightning in our residences. > Prior to the start of the project, Gerard personally designed the layout for the work to be performed. Adding additional value Gerard took us to several suppliers and assisted in guiding us to the natural stone tiles, plumbing and other fixtures. Though not part of the original plans Sound Harbor was able correct a door that was improperly installed by another contractor. During the course of construction Gerard on a daily bases overseen the work progress. If any work performance did not meet their standards Gerard would immediately ordered the work to be redone. > The second time we used Sound Harbor Development, LLC followed the rupture of a water pipe in our basement. In fact, it has been featured in HOUSE magazine twice and will go on an official tour for charity next week. Last, follow through...Most contractors are "done" when you pay your final bill and they move onto the next job (as they should) but it can be difficult to get them to come back for the little things, never mind a bigger issue. Not with Gerard. Even if I had a simple question for him after we moved in about how to operate something he would run over to the house to personally show me. His follow through is like no other. He responds to you right away and that is because he loves what he does and cares about the final product. The work performed on every aspect of the renovation was excellent. Gerard Lavelle, the owner of SHD, was as obsessive about the details of the work as my wife and I were. If you are looking for a thoughtful and detail obsessive contractor, Gerard Lavelle is your man. Rarely does a large renovation project go without some friction between homeowner and contractor, but my experience with Gerard was this rare exception.
