**★★★★★ — Peggy Kamins, Dec. 2015**

> We hired Stephanie for two different projects, the staging of our house for sale and decorating our permanent house. On both occasions we found Stephanie to be respectful, knowledgeable and easy to work with. When staging our home she tried to repurpose as much of our furnishings and accessories she could. She helped us "let" go of those special items that just didn't work anymore. We ended up purchasing a few inexpensive things that gave a room a much needed updated look. When we worked with her for our permanent house she was respectful of our budget and choose furnishings that fit our new life style and the style of the house - in and out. She was there to assist with the placement of delivered furniture and worked with the manufacturer/delivery personnel if something arrived damaged. We continue to consult with Stephanie when either she or we find an accessory or piece of art that works in our new home. We would not hesitate to hire Stephanie again should we ever move. (The date and pricing below reflects the timing for our new house.)

**★★★★★ — cpalder, Dec. 2015**

> Stephanie does of wonderful just job of listening to me and then bring her wonderful ideas out based on where I want to go. Not only do I love have everything has come out, I feel like it is me-only better.

**★★★★★ — James Macallan, Nov. 2015**

> We recently built a 6,000 square foot home in Fairfield County Connecticut and Stephanie was there from the beginning of the project, helping us every step of the way. While the house was under construction she helped with the selection of the light fixtures and the color scheme, both for the interior as well as the exterior. She next turned to assisting us on the selection of the furniture, carpeting, rugs as well as accessories. What I appreciated the most was that Stephanie took the time to understand our taste and style and what we wanted to achieve rather than seeking to “decorate” our home according to her own style. She was our guide and at times our inspiration. It was a pleasure working with her.

**★★★★★ — David Swanson, Oct. 2015**

> I recently had the privilege of seeing a power point demonstration of Stephanie's completed projects.
>
> The story behind each project, demonstrated that she really got to know each client intimately, as a true friend would, sitting at their kitchen table, helping to discover together, what they really wanted out of their space.
>
> Her use of color and light to created such unique moods, from living rooms in beach front properties to beautiful bathrooms which felt like the spa retreat you always wanted to visit. Her work says to me, ah, home at last!
>
> Stephanie Rapp does absolutely stunning work, a consummate professional.

**★★★★★ — tuckkan, Sept. 2015**

> Stephanie assisted us in an extensive first floor remodel including a Mud Room, Powder Room, Laundry Room, and Study.
> Stephanie took our ideas about color and design and blended them to bring our vision to fruition much more effectively than we could have hoped to on our own. Her knowledge of products and vendors made it easy for us to find what we needed.
> Stephanie is a pleasure to work with - she will share her opinions but in a flexible way, not forcing her choices.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Artwork** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love this artwork. Can you share where it was purchased or the name of the artist?

A: Hello there, you have a very good eye because this original abstract painting is by a very talented artist in Connecticut named Julia Contacessi. Here is the link to her website http://www.juliacontacessi.com/  It is even more beautiful in person. Let her know you saw her work on Houzz in one of my rooms. Good Luck and happy designing!

**Q: Carpet ?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where can I purchase this carpet?

A: Hello, thank you for your inquiry about this beautiful rug. It was a custom purchase that I made with Capel Carpets. If you could use any of my services, please let me know.

**Q: Color on wall** *(in Photo Questions)*

what's the name and brand of paint on the walls? this is the perfect orange hue for a wall color.

A: I'm sorry that I cannot be more helpful, but it is a custom color.

**Q: Crazy wall colors?! Hubby says looks like kindergarten :-0** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi,
So this is a new construction home and Therefore a blank slate. I really wanted to do orange in my dining room and I chose Benjamin Moore raspberry blush which was depicted on their BM website as a "deep orange with a lick of pink". Trust me I deliberated over many shades for a long time but decided to take the plunge and paint my whole (large) dining room this shade. Now to be fair, the baseboard, trim and crown moulding are not up yet, but I kinda got faint hearted when I saw the room:-0 In addition to that, in the adjoining room (formal living room) I had the one wall (which faces the DR) painted a dark plum, thinking these colors are far away from each other and do compliment each other any how, but they are fighting like cats and dogs. Too much color and my hubby says it looks like a kindergarten. Also they painted the wrong grey on the living room walls which can be changed but I'm realizing that I don't like the raspberry blush with cool grey , I think it needs a warmer color to compliment it in the adjoining room, plus I'm wondering if I should use a more creamy shade for the trim and not dove white (BM) as I had planned to. How do i make this all work?! Sorry for the rant!!!(ps - the yellow you see is the only part of the old house that remained and that room will be painted a different color plus there will be French doors separating)

A: I hear your dilemma and also agree with the other Pros in that you should have some idea of your fabrics and floor tone before you paint. With all that in mind, and knowing that you have a paint crew coming tomorrow, I would like to make a few practical suggestions. It is OK for rooms to be neutral and Edgecomb grey is a wonderful neutral to use with White Dove trim (agree with emmarene). A neutral taupe such as this can be soothing and restful and allow room for options with other future decorating selections. I feel it is more important that there is a flow to a home and having different color schemes in each room just does not give you a sense that it is a cohesively planned renovation. You must decide if you like the Plum best or the Red. My suggestion is to paint the entire Living room in Edgecomb Grey and paint the Dining Room in your bold color of preference. Then use that color as an accent color in pillows, ottoman or accessories in the Living room. Then you will see your space as part of the same whole, not as individual rooms.

**Q: What to do with oak baseboards** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The owners of our new house got new laminate flooring, but they did not change the baseboards. I do not like how the different shades of wood are right next to each other. I am thinking that we will paint the baseboards white, along with the fireplace, the built-in cabinet in the dining room, and the spindles on the stairs. Do others think that is a good idea? Is there another solution I'm not thinking of? Re-staining the wood sounds like it would be more work. I'm just not sure I want to paint the doors though. They are very solid/nice doors, and we kind of like the look of the oak. If we don't paint the doors, do we paint the trim around the doors? With three young kids, wood works better because I know how nicked up any painted wood gets. Thanks for your thoughts!

A: My recommendation is to paint all the trim white, which includes the baseboard, door trim, window trim, stair spindles and stair side trim and.fireplace surround. Leave the natural wood on the stair rails, treads and risers. Also leave the front door all wood so that it stands out as an important architectural element. I would prefer to see the interior doors all white as well for a fresher look and so that such a large surface does not fight with the floors. You also have different wood finishes in your furniture and the mix is getting very busy. Use a satin or semi-gloss on the trim and it will wipe little fingerprints well.

**Q: Mirrors** *(in Photo Questions)*

Beautiful!!! Where can I find those mirrors?

A: Thank you, they are very beautiful! These mirrors can be found from Hickory White.
