They arrived in record time. When we took them out of the box, we were surprised at how wonderfully they were packaged. They had included a diagram of how to lay out the tiles, packaged the tiles in numbered form and numbered the back of each one of them.... So we knew exactly how to lay them out. They even included where to order the surrounding tiles for our shower if necessary and what would look good with them. Unfortunately we ordered the wrong size tile. I sent an email asking if they came in 6" tiles. We actually received a phone call from Deb letting us know that they do, and she would order them right away. We received our new tiles within a couple of days, and they are perfect!! We have not completed the shower, so we do not have a picture, but we could not be more pleased with the service and the product. No Idea What I'm Doing** *(in Landscape Design)* Looking for some suggestions on updating our exterior. More specifically paint colors for the exterior, and maybe some landscaping/foundation plants. We are leaning towards painting the brick white, and the siding some other color, but we both have limited imaginations. The other 3 sides of the house are white stucco which we plan to leave as is. As for foundation plants, we don't know anything about plants, and don't want anything that requires much maintenance, or planting each season. You can start with one individual garden space way out toward the road in the front yard. Plant that lilac bush on one side so that from the road the bush is not directly in front of the center of the house, and then plant a few plants that can survive cold weather around it. Then you won't have anything planted to close to the house that can be a problem in the future when you are working on the new façade of your home. Landscaping can make all the difference. A: Lovely transformation! **Q: Before and After Guest Bathroom Complete Remodel** *(in Remodeling)* After having a minor overreaction to my counter top installation, here is the finished product of my guest bathroom remodel. I know some will hate it as I saw in my previous thread, but I am pleased. :) The bad: offset uncentered seashell sinks, orange spanish tile, really short cabinets, electrical outlets cut inside of the mirrors, old outdated bulb lights.. yuck. I felt that the extremely long counter top had to be broken up, by either a linen cabinet or a vanity. I'm pleased with the little makeup vanity. Sorry, some of the pictures are taken using pano, so it makes some of the features distorted. A: I love it too! Beautiful! **Q: How high should this shelf be above the couch?** *(in Design Dilemma)* The shelf is 60 inches long and 5 inches deep. The canvases that will go on the shelf are 12 or 16 inches and get changed out periodically. I mocked it up with paper and it looks too high. IDK! Those garage doors are classy looking. **Q: TINY kitchen layout ideas** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi all, I'm starting the planning for a kitchen remodel in my studio condo, and I would love some layout help and advice. It's HILARIOUS when I see "tiny kitchens" mentioned on Houzz and they end up being like half the size of my entire condo, lol My current kitchen is about 7.5' x 6'. I have a 24" range, 18" dishwasher, 28" fridge, and no microwave. Here's a picture of what it looked like right before I moved in. Since then I've painted the cabinets (which are awful and falling apart) navy blue since they were HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE, but everything else is the same. I'm only one person, so the amount of storage space is somewhat adequate for now, but more would always be better. My biggest issue at the moment is lack of counter space. The area between the sink and fridge looks a good amount of counter space, but since the fridge is not counter depth and sticks out it makes it pretty hard to work in that area. I'm probably going to stick with IKEA cabinets, as they're in my budge and everyone I know that has used them has loved the end product. I did consider maybe knocking down the wall on the right side and making a peninsula with space for bar stools on the other side, but after considering it, I actually like having the kitchen blocked off from the rest of my space (it is a one-room studio after all), and I also don't want to deal with what demolition might entail, as I have popcorn asbestos ceilings (thanks old buildings!!!) The exterior hallway is on the other side of the left wall. So far, I've come up with 3 options. \#1 - Leave the layout exactly the same but gut everything and replace all the appliances (including a counter depth fridge and 24" otr microwave) and get new cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling. \#2 - Convert into a galley kitchen. This will give me a bit more counter space and leave the back wall open for storage options, like a pan rack maybe? This would of course require moving the plumbing for the sink and dishwasher. Is that a feasible option, or even worth it? Here's a possible design, and I could do with either a 24" or a full 30" range. (ignore the finishes, I haven't decided on those things yet) \#3 - Move the fridge to a closet space that's across from the kitchen. I've seen this done in another unit in my building, and while the kitchen is really opened up, it takes away other storage space, which I really don't want to lose. Here's a picture of the closet in question, which I currently use for coats/shoes/cleaning devices. It's about 62" across. Putting in a 30" range would still require moving the sink and dishwasher. Is it easier to move the range to the other wall instead of the sink? Are there any other possible layouts I haven't thought of? Any help would be appreciated!
