> We recently undertook the somewhat daunting task of building a new home in Atherton, CA. Candidly, Chris Yates and his team were recommended to us early in the process. However, in a classic 'penny wise, pound foolish scenario and in order to save a few dollars, etc we went with a different design/build firm, choosing to 'design' the landscape ourselves in concert with another  firm. That was a mistake!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love the gravel, do you know what make and colour they are please\>** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This will not be much use to you unless you are in the SF Bay Area, but it is gold pathway rock 3/8" from American Soils in Richmond

**Q: Is Ipe on stone base shared with concrete?  What base is used for Ipe?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This requires a complex detail to insure that there is enough air flow under the decking so the ipe does not warp. This is why you need to hire a landscape architect.

**Q: Is this grass drought tolerant?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I also live in the Bay Area and need to know if this grass qualifies with our current drought conditions.

A: This is a native grass, and is drought tolerant, but will brown up if not watered through the summer. To maintain it as a green meadow grass, it needs regular summer irrigation.
