Within a few months we learned that he does not have sub contractors with history working on his projects, he goes for the lowest bidder. Note: if you hire him, \#1 don't give him money up front. \#2 ask for invoices. \#3 ask for lean releases from each sub contractor. Also, you may want to see the bids before moving forward. Do not expect that he will be around during construction or check the work. Nor expect that the work site will be clean....ever. I would also suggest checking if he has the permits in place before giving any go ahead and that you actually passed each inspection as you go, he will not do this on his own. He started the framing without a permit. Check the weather and be prepared to cover any holes where water might get in and you don't want it to. So prepare to buy a few very large tarps. We were blessed with flooding to our home we live in and including the build. Also, if this happens to your build get some equipment to kill the mold yourself because Chris will not do this, nor will he go looking for mold (per Chris, he's never seen mold on the wood of a crawl space he built). We ended up firing him and spending 10's of thousands of dollars more just to bring his work up to code. Also, when things go wrong, don't expect an apology or for him to take responsibility. \*\*some pics of flooding included and his end point with our build. A: It is a quartzite stacked stone tile. It has many different names (golden sun, golden sand, winter, Asian gold), and some suppliers call it a slate. I believe I bought it from Arizona Tile, and they call it Golden Gate stack stone mesh, and it comes in 12x12 sheets.
