A: I would agree that a good first step for your goal of brightening the room would be to add more colorful pillows. Focus on colors in the artwork above the sofa, so the pillows lead you right back to the artwork. If you were to change the rug to a lighter one, you would visually lose the contrast of the shape of the furniture against it. The current rug you have provides great contrast. After you select some pillows to tie into the artwork, if you still want the room brighter, there are more modern abstract and colorful rugs which could be added. But the rug you have could also work. If the pillows also have some of the rug colors in them, that is a plus as well, for cohesiveness in the room. It's helpful that you have a small table between the two chairs, but once you change out the coffee table to a square table, you might want to consider a very narrow rectangular table between the two chairs, since most of the lines in the room will be right angles. **Q: What color did you use on this house siding? They want to tie two underground roof gutter drains into our sump drain line about 20 ft from the house and also tie in the leach field curtain drain. They plan to run the resulting black corrugated conduit down to the back of the yard to a drainage ditch to keep all that water away from the leach field.
