Please! :-)** *(in Design Dilemma)* Sorry its long....Im getting stressed....... Hello everyone! I am soooooo tired of looking for countertops so I am just ready to make a decision. Im sure many of you have been there. My husband and I are redoing our kitchen and have white cabinets with super dark island. My original idea was to do a fresh clean whitish kitchen look. Would love to do marble but for obvious reasons I know that is not an option. I thought about quartz but I have been to some fabricators and I honestly didnt really get excited about what I saw. So i decided to be open to the idea of finding a whitish granite with greys and maybe even black colors in it. I am not a fan of spotted little specks so kashmir white although it was nice....I feel as if the specks would have bothered me. I am now stuck trying to decide bw viscount white (which might be too much grey and not enough white, and maybe too busy?) and colonial white (which I love the pattern, despite some of the black specks, BUT the slabs I am looking at has some yellowish spots some places. Not sure if it will bother me since I notice it so much). Quartizite is out as it is out of our price range. Does anyone have any one of those 2 slabs of granite in your kitchen and how do you feel about it since you have had it installed. Thanks so much for the help and opinions. Adriene A: River White Granite has a soft horizontal pattern and with a honed finish applied softens up the look to give it a marble feel. **Q: I am curious about marble as a counter top in a kitchen. I love it bu** *(in Photo Questions)* A: Marble is a much softer stone than granite and requires extra care to keep it looking new. It is prone to scratching, chipping, and etching from every day use. I would suggest a honed or leathered finish to help hide some of the normal wear and tear you will see overtime. I agree it is very beautiful, but you have to be willing to take on the extra maintenance and special care. **Q: Need help with kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are building a house. My cabinet maker has just brought it to my attention that the sink can not be centered under the window as originally planned, the light boxes are already installed as per the original plan, centered in the window. The dishwasher is to the left of the sink and I am right handed. Should I move the dishwasher to the island? Any other ideas? A: You could use a sink with a built in stainless drain board to the left to go over dishwasher area to make sink feel more centered at window. Although faucet would not be centered. I want a contemporary, sleek look and my husband is set on granite countertops as the focal centerpiece as the kitchen. The house has an open floor plan with kitchen, dining and living area combined and the living area is decorated with fairly neutral/warm colors and a lot of SW light and exposure. What granite styles, colors and patterns would be recommended.
