**★★★ — Jackie Sisolak, Jan. 2018**

> I have some really good things and some less than perfect things to say about this company. The short version is they're very professional, high quality, and capable of doing the difficult projects well. On the down side, they're also expensive and not the best on timeframe or communication.
>
> Here's my story: I called and made an appointment for an in-home bid, and the soonest they could come was over a week out. When the day finally came, my husband came home early from work to be there too. The appointment time came and passed. I called their office and went through every person in the directory and no one so much as picked up the phone. I left a voicemail and didn't get a call back for a couple days. Very frustrating, but then they turned it all around.
>
> When I did hear back, the scheduler was really apologetic, didn't make any excuses, and rescheduled another in-home estimate just a couple days out. When the head of the company arrived to do the estimate, he showed up 15 minutes early and he explained that they are a family owned company and had a family emergency that I won't detail here. It now made perfect sense that they had missed their appointment, though a phone call in advance would have been nice. He then proceeded to educate me a lot on concrete floors, the process, how you care for them, and what to look for in quality work. When he examined my slab, he explained that he could do the inexpensive finishing process that is commonly done, but would have poor results where old tile shadows would show and cracks in my slab would reoccur. He then detailed the microtopping process and showed me some great work he had done in the past. I would have loved to hire him at this point, but the price tag for this job was about $17 a square foot and not the $6-8 I had expected and they had given as a rough estimate over the phone before seeing my slab.
>
> The whole process took about two weeks. By comparison, another company only took 3 days to get me an estimate, and offered to do the cheap finishing process for $5 a square foot. BUT they didn't do any education or warn me that my tile pattern might show through, weren't even capable of doing a microtopping, and seemed pretty evasive when I asked what would happen if my floors came out ugly (answer: too bad so sad, thanks for your money!). Not a company I'd want to work with.
>
> So, overall if you want really high quality work (though a bit pricey to match), but maybe not get it done quickly, LA Concrete Works is the company for you.

**★★★★★ — Jessica Hagy, June 2016**

> As a first time homeowner, I was nervous to begin my home renovation process on a 1958 Cliff May home. Larry and the entire LA Concrete Works team immediately put me at ease with their professionalism, expertise, exquisite design taste, and communicative nature. They walked me through every step of the process with patience and precision. I could not love my floors any more than I do! They are exactly what I envisioned... and then some.

**Comment from LA Concrete Works:**

> Jessica thank you so very much!!! I thank you for trusting us and it was truly a privilege to help you with your new home

> Working with Larry, Brady & Chucky has been wonderful! They are concrete experts and they priced their work fairly. I've never had a better experience working with a contractor! They pay attention to detail, are quality centered, responsible and think about the long-term. I'm a construction manager in the education sector and I would choose LA Concrete Works for my next job in a heartbeat! In fact, I've there was a "Contractor for Life" award, they'd be the ones to get it!

**Comment from LA Concrete Works:**

> Charles, this review is one of the big reasons we try so hard to do "IT" right. Thank you for your kind words and it was truly a pleasure to accomplish what you needed done.

> What a professional, thorough company. It was a real pleasure working with Larry & Brady. They helped me problem solve some major issues from my other much less efficient and communicative contractor, and it was a pleasure to find them & I feel lucky to have found them as well. They are extreme professionals and perfectionists. I'd love to work with them again!

## Community Q&A

**Q: What were the colors used to stain the concrete?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Beautiful concrete color

A: Kevin,

This is a very light custom blend of stain that also got sealed and wax. This was on new concrete that we poured!

**Q: overlay** *(in Photo Questions)*

Did you use an overlay for the concrete? If so, which product did you use?
Thanks!

A: No we stained the existing gray concrete and sealed it...We used a proprietary product.
Best
Larry
