**★★★★★ — A, Sept. 2024**

> This is the second time we have had Native Oak design/build custom cabinets for our home. The first time was in May 2022 and was an entertainment center. They were able to match the style and stain on the other cabinets in the home. This time September 2024 was to design/build office space for two people in a small room. Again, they were able to match existing cabinets throughout home. Both times we worked with Melyssa Noren for the consultation and design. She is very knowledgeable and good suggestions on the layout. The installers for both projects were Gerardo and Mario. They were excellent, efficient, and quick.
> For the office project, from initial contact with Native Oak to completion took 8 weeks.

**★★ — Dave, Feb. 2023**

> Native Oak staff where the nicest people to work with. The installers were professional. The pricing was expensive as any purchaser of cabinets knows wishing for the best. Install went well. Panel painting developed separation/cracking in the panel/door joints. It must have been their process. Native Oak team removed panels and doors to repaint. Re-install after the painting but never looks the same as original install and overall the condition was not corrected. I guess we did not get to the root of the issue why the paint cracking separation developed to begin with.

**Comment from Native Oak:**

> Hey Dave. We're sorry to see you are unhappy with your product! Please reach out to me personally, jay@nativeoak.com, so we can permanently address this problem. I'll see it through myself.

> From design of our custom entertainment center to cabinet build to installation was a smooth process. The entertainment center is substantial and beautiful. The vision came to life thanks to in the beginning talks with Joyce and then Melissa. In consultations with Melissa, she was very thorough in understanding what we were wanting and gave great suggestions and alerted us to design pitfalls. We wanted a near match for the cabinetry and the color of the entertainment center to flow with the cabinetry in our kitchen and it does. Installation was done efficiently and clean by hard workers Gerardo and Mario. We're very happy and proud of our entertainment center. Thank you Native Oak!

**Comment from Native Oak:**

> Wow! What a beautiful and unique entertainment center! Thank you for working with us and for the kind review.

> After the loss of my home in the Thomas Fire, I received a postal flyer from Native Oak. I made contact with the company and they were very responsive including inviting me to visit a home that they had recently finished.
> Jeni did most of the design work for my project. I met numerous times at the Native Oak office to work on design, color and features. Jeni always returned my calls and texts and was a pleasure to work with.
> Installation went smoothly. Because this was a bigger project it was done in stages. The installers were professional and very respectful to me and to my home, always cleaning up after the job.
> The product is beautiful and seems to be very high quality. Very happy with my Native Oak experience.

From start to finish, their professionalism, attention to detail and local approach was exactly what we were looking for. This company has exceptional customer service and will go to great lengths to ensure you are happy, even thrilled with the final outcome. We will always recommend Native Oak as your go to company for cabinetry.

> During a an extensive house remodel two years ago, I worked with Joyce, from Native Oak to design and fabricate a custom master closet in addition to custom cabinet work for my laundry room. In total, I spent $16,000 on custom cabinetry. Joyce, who was working as the company’s designer at the time, but had previously owned the company, and I had numerous meetings in order to work out the layout and other details. In attendance at all those meetings was my own trusted designer to oversee things. From the very first meeting, I made it clear that my top priority was to have a safe in the closet. I brought it up at every meeting, which my designer, Jessica, has since attested to. When we were close to finishing the job, I realized that the safe was not going to make it in. I was quite worried since I had stressed the importance of this from the beginning. Joyce, Native Oak’s designer, assured me that it could be done after I moved in and just place on a melamine shelf they had already fabricated and installed. She specifically told me that I could go out, buy the safe and just “shove it in.” I relied on her word, and focused on the thousand other things that needed my attention. Once the dust settled, I tried to buy and place my safe, but came to find out that the closet would have to be reworked if I wanted to include the safe. A heavy safe could not just be placed on top of a melamine shelf, as she had made it seem. Also, because the closet was not designed around the safe, my choices for safes had decreased immensely, due to space constraints. After leaning all this, I contacted Joyce to let her know. At first, she tried to tell me that I had never mentioned the safe to her at all, which I could not believe, considering that it was the most important item in my closet and I had made that clear, time and again. Then, when she looked over her notes, she admitted that this item was there, but STILL would not take responsibility. After more than a year of emails and phone calls on my part, she finally agreed to come look over the closet, in the hopes that she would find a way to just “shove it in,” as she had said could be done. When she finally came up with a plan, she also came up with a potential bill for $1,200 that I was to pay in order to accommodate the safe. I didn’t think that was right, since I had spent so much money on this closet in the first place, so I contacted the owner, Jay McCoy. After many more months of phone calls and emails on my part, he finally came to look at the closet. During this meeting, he kept saying that the company works on “contracts and change orders.” He too was refusing to take responsibility for the mistake that was made and was attempting to justify their omission. After a very unpleasant and tense meeting, he then came up with an idea that the company would split the cost with me, and said he would let me know how much it would be. He then walked out without saying goodbye, and I haven’t heard from him since—and this was months ago. In total, I did battle with the company for 18 months trying to get this problem fixed. I was a good paying customer and I feel that I was treated very badly at the end of the day. Most companies, with any good business sense, would have done this repair without question. To fix the problem, at their cost was going to cost well under $1000. I cannot imagine risking my reputation with a good customer, for that small amount of money (well under 10% of what I paid them in total). I informed Jay and Joyce, that if they did not see fit to remedy the situation I was going to have to post a negative review of online and also contact the better business bureau. Sadly, doing the right thing and fixing my closet was less important to them than receiving a negative review, such as the one I am now writing. I would never do business with them again, nor recommend them to the many people who I know are remodeling their own homes. So not only did they lose repeat business from me, but also any referrals I might have given them and not to mention anyone reading this review who might now what to go elsewhere for their closet out of fear of having a negative experience themselves.

> I love my kitchen design, and the staff have been amazing to work with. Although there have been a few bumps along the road, they are stepping up and working to resolve the issues.

**★★★★★ — K O, Feb. 2018**

> Native Oak tackled an extremely custom modern Kitchen Remodel for us and came thru with flying colors. The end product was spectacular to say the least. Many custom features, shapes, and elements which they fabricated, and installed with incredible attention to detail. Our Kitchen Remodel came out absolutely perfect, just as we had hoped, thanks largely to the fantastic design and installation teams at Native Oak. Highly recommend them.

> After 17 years in our home, the time had come to update our Master Bathroom and Closet. Native Oak delivered an exceptional closet and vanity that surpassed our expectations! We were doubtful we could squeeze more space out of our maxed out, messy closet. Native Oak's design team managed to utilize the space in such a way as to reduce clutter, increase efficiency, and expand our storage options. Our old messy closet feels more spacious due to the configuration of their design! The vanity displays excellent craftsmanship suited to meet our needs including custom finish, soft close drawers, and built with precision. Native Oak worked with our contractor and designer to accommodate specs and install dates . The finished product provides maximum function as well as beauty. We love that this company is family-owned and genuinely cares about their customers. We highly recommend hiring them for your next project!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Lovely cabintets!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where can I find louvered door cabinets such as these?

A: Hey Riya - Thanks! A custom cabinet shop would be able to order doors like this in a wood such as alder, maple, or cherry, from a cabinet door supplier. We bought ours for this project from CalDoor.
