> Toby is amazing! His understanding of the clients' desires and challenges that need to be resolved, mixed with this modern and out of the box creativity, are the top qualities that would keep me using him for every design project. Me and my wife are architects too (healthcare projects only), so we appreciate the attention to details. The only suggestion for future Toby-home owners is, try and make as many decisions on appliances, tiles, and maybe even furniture during this design process, it will save you a lot of headaches during construction.

**★★★★★ — Consilium B LLC, April 2022**

> I worked with Toby on several Projects, and am very impressed with his deep understanding about modern Architecture and his very patient approach to create a consistent flow from the outside to the inside. His insights into sustainable building are eye opening and he gives his clients the certainty to create their Vision and turn it into reality.

**★★★★★ — Tyler Kohlbusch, Sept. 2020**

> I had the pleasure of working with Toby Witte of Wittehaus on a recent modern home project in Charlotte, NC, and the experience was both inspiring and enjoyable. His creative process is so well balanced, providing reassuring structure without ever feeling limiting, and his ability to envision and create something beautiful, inspiring, and new with as much or as little client input is amazing to experience. Toby also has a knack for understanding how spaces will be ultimately used, what they will look like, and how they will feel before they ever exist. In this way, Toby acts as a guide, inspiring a high level of confidence and trust throughout the project. And did I mention that Toby makes the whole process fun? Yes, Toby is an extremely talented, dynamic architect who is also lots of fun to be around.

> I highly recommend Toby Witte for his expertise as an architect and builder, especially with innovative, awe-inspiring modern and contemporary residences.

**★★★★★ — Lynn Luxury Homes, Sept. 2020**

> Toby Witte of Wittehaus is a modern architecture marvel. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Toby in every aspect of the design and construction process. He is an immensely creative, bold and fun designer to work with. His passion for modern design radiates from his work. I have been highly impressed with Toby’s ability to zoom in on every intricate detail, and zoom out on the holistic vision of the entire ensemble. The spaces he creates, their connection to each other, and the overarching composition are designed to evoke certain feelings. Feelings of security, feelings of grandeur, feelings of surprise and feelings of connectivity. I have learned a lot about good design, and modern design, from Toby. His work tells a story. From the subtleties he shapes in, to the bold cantilever projections, Toby’s work is an artful expression of the client and his playful imagination. I relish the time we spend together designing, building, collaborating, and having some raw fun in our profession.

> Toby is a class act! His design completley exceeded our expectations, his suggestions were always on point and he honored our humble budget without ever making us feel less-than. We are first time home owners and this was our first addition project and Toby was extremely helpful in choosing our contractor. Toby is very punctual, never missed a deadline and was always available to us with any questions we had. It was an absolute pleasure working with Toby, we are extremely proud of our Wittehaus designed addition.

**★★★★★ — Stella Home Staging, Sept. 2020**

> I have been a fan of Toby's for several years now. I sought Toby out for my own project because he was one of very few architects in Charlotte with a modern energy efficient practice, and I was drawn to his aesthetic. I am a real estate broker and a home stager. Recently, I have had the pleasure of listing and staging Toby's Oaklawn project. This house was picked up by the Charlotte Observer in their real estate section. I can honestly report that I had more people come through this open house, including other designers and real estate professionals, than I have every had. Approximately 150 people walked through Toby's Oaklawn house in one day. We received multiple offers on this beautiful property and sold over list price. Toby's business model, like his design, is smart and efficient. I have people asking me all the time when they can expect the next Wittehaus home to come available. For anyone who seeks modern design Wittehaus is your place.

**★★★★★ — User, Aug. 2020**

> Toby Witte worked closely withe us to design the modern home of our dreams. We came to Toby with a set budget and he did an excellent job of accommodating our budget while also keeping the important aspects of the design in play. Toby has a wonderfully creative mind and is not afraid to design a plan which is forward thinking while also based in traditional concepts used by his predecessors such as Bauhaus and Frank Lloyd Wright. Toby does a great job of considering the environment in building a "green" home while also taking into consideration how to incorporate elements such as sun and moonlight into the interior of the home. His use of the many windows, strategically placed, has been a source of pleasure for us as we enjoy beams of sun and moonlight daily. Toby goes above and beyond to ensure the home is structurally sound and to ensure that proper drainage is top of mind. Toby's understanding of modern style is paramount is his design and we were thrilled with the customizations.

  - Location: Charlotte, NC
  - Photos: 17
  - Description: Our clients asked us to create an “extraordinary home”. That was it; and after a bit of probing - to create one that would cantilever into the treetops, overlooking Lake Wylie. At the same time they wanted to stay grounded and sans stairs to climb in order to grow old in this new dream home. So we cut a set of stone walls into the hill and placed the house on top, creating level terraces in the hill side. We let the home careen over the artificial cliff, providing views from all the primary spac…

  - Location: Not specified

  - Description: This home was asked to provide privacy within the context of a semi-urban established neighborhood. In addition it was to allow for plenty of daylight to wash into the home for the making of a happy place. To round it off, it was to be energy efficient. What to do? On the one hand it needed to be open, on the other closed off. In addition to this perplexing situation, the best light, the Southern light, was coming right from the direction of the street. To solve the problem poetically, we decide…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love the siding style!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Could you please tell me what you have used for the siding material?

A: I believe we used natural cedar boards on furring strips and let it weather to a silvery grey.
