Soap scum has become a real issue, and we were curious about finishes that may help. Also, how costly would it be per bath? A: There is no polish available for travertine, that I am aware of, however, repeated sealings can give it a slight sheened appearance. If your showers are honed and filled travertine, it would be much more cost effective for you to buy the sealer and do it yourself, so it really isn't a service we offer. It mainly consists of spraying on the liquid, letting it sit and wiping it off, then repeating the process several times. When travertine is cut into tiles, it is usually honed (ground to a flat, smooth appearance) and the holes are are filled in with an epoxy resin to give it a smooth surface, hence the description "honed and filled" you are familiar with. Tumbled travertine is usually NOT honed , and will have a more rustic appearance with holes and cracks visible because of that. Hands down my favorite wood, what a gorgeous floor! **Q: what is the name of this tile** *(in Photo Questions)* A: This is actually a drop tile unfortunately, but we have many newer styles to choose from. It is distributed through Space Flooring in Macon, GA . It is a porcelain tile. **Q: is this travertine?** *(in Photo Questions)* wondered if you used travertine, cuz i just used that in my shower. now i am wondering if it was a mistake because of the maintenance. it looks great, just had it done. A: The wall tile is ceramic, the shower floor is tumbled travertine that comes in a 4 x 4 format. Please let me assure you of something-travertine is NOT a high maintenance product! I am not sure at all why some people give others , like yourself, reason to doubt their decision based on that. We have completed over 45 travertine showers this year, three times that in the three years we have been in business. No maintenance issues EVER. In fact, my clients say the exact opposite! Travertine showers only look better with time, in my opinion. We don't customarily seal the showers after installation, but some customers choose to do so on their own for different reasons and I think sometimes people get hung up on that-they think they "have" to seal the stone and the grout and maybe they assume it is a big job. It isn't. We use DuPont Indoor Tile and Stone sealer from Lowe's- I always apply at least four coats because I prefer the way it makes the stone look. I reapply once a year. All you have to do is "paint" the sealer onto the surface, wait for it to absorb and wipe off. How easy is that?
