**Q: Empty wall** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi all,
We are transitioning our formal dining room to a playroom for our two little children. The wall above the toy shelf is empty. Would the room seem too busy if I made this a gallery wall with family photos?

A: What about a large bulletin board to hang their artwork, posters, photos, mementos, etc.? You can change it at will, and take it down when they get older.

**Q: Need help with my dining/living room** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello!
My family and I just moved into our very first home. It is an open layout, small home with a natural honey maple kitchen and gray granite that I feel defines the whole space. The space also has natural color wood floors combined with a beige carpet and a chimney surrounded by a somewhat dark chocolate color tile. The wall color is a light beige, almost white looking. Please disregard the furniture, we are seeking to part ways with it :)
We have been trying to find inspiration to decorate the home, but can't find anything. We are not experienced with interior designing and wish to prevent costly mistakes. We would love assistance in figuring out the type of dining and living/family room furnishings and decor that might be appropriate for our home. We have even considered painting the cabinets a different color! since we can't even seem to find an appropriate backsplash that we like. Sigh.
We like neutral rooms with delicate pops of color in the details... we like greens, blues, yellows and even that bright coral that seems to be popular (we saw it on many model homes). Any suggestions at all? do any of you have a similar home and have done something with it you love and could recommend? Thank you!

**Q: Pillows for new area rug** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My husband and I are in the process of updating our living room. Our couch is a dark khaki/light brown color and we just purchased this rug and this coffee table. Can anyone offer ideas of pillows for our couch that won't we too much with this rug? Our space isn't large so we don't want to overpower it.

Also-- any ideas for art work?

A: You can still pop in some lighter coloured pillows for the summer. Teal and red, or turquoise and orange.

**Q: Floors** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi, can you tell me about these floors?  Wood? Tile? Laminate? I have to tear out my beautiful hardwood due to moisture issues and have to replace them with tile or laminate and I love this... Thank you in advance!

We have some high quality, very attractive tile in a linen pattern that is too dark. Is there any way to lighten or change the color without ripping it out.

**Q: Kitchen cabinet/backsplash help!!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are buying this house and would like to change the backsplash to help make the cream cabinets and white/gray countertops go together. I've also wondered about a glaze on the cabinets as well. Any suggestions? We have more of a rustic hill country style but this house was just too good to pass up. Thanks!

A: Have you thought of painting the cabinets? Maybe a neutral like SW 6001 Grayish.
