Trex became the world’s \#1 decking brand by engineering what’s next in outdoor living. Both homeowners and TrexPros—builders with a proven mastery of our products—love Trex composite boards because they resemble wood, but act nothing like it. That’s because our proprietary shell prevents aging, fading, staining, rotting and warping. Even better, our high-performance decks don’t require any maintenance beyond occasional soap-and-water cleanings; that means no sanding, staining or painting...ever. All this, plus we care about the environment, as our decking is made out of 95% recycled material.

And while we remain experts in beautiful, long-lasting decking, Trex offers so much more. From both modern and traditional railing to clever deck lights to pergolas and furniture that provide shade and solace, our lineup of outdoor products is designed to make your deck the most cherished room of your house.

> I could not be happier with Trex products. I am not an easy consumer to please, and Trex has surpassed my expectations. I built a deck myself using Trex Transcend decking, railing, lighting and fencing. I absolutely love this deck and constantly get compliments from neighbors and guests. Two years in and looks as new as day 1. Havana Gold with Spiced Rum border is a great look. The Transcend railing is much sturdier than I imagined and the option to put a 2 x 4 spiced rum top is a real fancy touch. The lighting package is pricey, but quality built like everything else. Zero problems and looks amazing - so worth the money. I think the most interesting part of this project was adding a privacy wall to one part of the deck. A Trex privacy wall is not commonly found on Trex decks so there were no examples of this online. I took a gamble and installed Trex Seclusions Saddle Brown fencing. It adds tons of privacy and the color matches so well with the rest of the deck. For anyone wondering if Trex quality is worth the extra money – to me the answer is a clear Yes.

> I hired a "platinum pro" contractor from the Trex website to install a high-end Trex Elevations deck.
>
> It's a second-floor deck that was supposed to be waterproofed to create a living space underneath.
>
> Tens of thousands of dollars later it's a complete disaster. The contractor deviated from the architectural plans, took shortcuts during construction, and now the deck is leaking between the ledger and the house, into the living space below, and is structurally unsound.
>
> The contractor refuses to remediate his shoddy work and has stopped communicating with me.
>
> Trex corporate has blown me off saying they don't get involved in disputes between contractors and clients. So now I'm sitting with a worthless piece of junk bolted to my house and yet this scam artist "platinum pro" contractor is still featured on their website

> I really like the product, but I can't get it past the Omaha Nebraska Building Code. I have reached out to Trex, they have sent me engineer drawings and load span, but this material is not cover in the Building Code. I want to do a 3 foot cantilever beyond the deck beam, with the bean located 12 foor from the house. The cantilever I am wanting to do is a circular one similar to several illustrated online and in the Trex literature. Right now my old deck has been removed, winter is approaching, and the project has stalled. What I really need is some help dealing with an outdated (2006) building code, I have tried reaching out to Trex, but I can't seem to get anybody with more knowledge and clout than a homeowner and local deck contractor.

**Comment from TREX COMPANY INC:**

> Can you tell me what type of substructure you are using? Is it pressure treated or are you using Trex Elevations?

**★★★★★ — N.E.A. Construction - Architects & Master Builders, Sept. 2016**

> We became a Trex Pro after our first Trex deck installation. The owner was so happy that she had a lounge chair and a cocktail on it before we even got the railings on.
>
> Every time we finish a deck we are met with high praise from the owners. The finished product is literally a piece of high-end furniture, and it seems that even the owners that are normally indoor types experience a lifestyle change when their deck is done. Our last deck client went out and bought heat lamps so that they could use the deck during the winter. Everyone we have built a deck for cannot say enough about them.
>
> As a GC, we have used Trex on applications besides decks. From fascia boards to soffiting, Trex planks are extremely versatile. The Transcend line looks and feels like real wood. The Select line is pleasantly priced, and all our suppliers carry plenty of stock. We can even get fasteners and screws in Home Depot. Design-wise, you can go modern or rustic and the options are pretty much limitless.
>
> Installation is user friendly, and we've been refining our assembly methods. We get faster with every deck. The hidden fastener system is simple and quick. Railings are really strong and have hundreds of color combinations. Trex provides samples and catalogs and a dedicated rep helps us on estimates and install procedures.
>
> If you're looking for a composite deck, pick Trex. We can't say enough good things about this product. We are very happy to have added Trex decks to our expanding repertoire, and look forward to working with Trex products way into the future.

> Trex provides top quality decking, railing, and a host of accessories. They are the industry leaders and all others are constantly chasing and imitating. There can be but one \#1 and in the decking and railing industry that is Trex without question. I am a vendor for Trex and have used their products for many years in building displays and designing marketing presentation kits. Their staff from top to bottom is respectful, courteous, and quality focused. Delivery time is fast and they are very responsive to any problems. They are very hands on in providing direction and troubleshooting.
> My mother built a Trex deck over 15 years ago and it is still structurally sound and looks great. Very little maintenance has been required and Trex has drastically improved in the quality and make-up of their decking since then.

We stand behind our products with comprehensive warranties. Trex composite decking is engineered for durability and performance, backed by warranties that protect against material defects, fading, and staining. Additionally, TrexPro® contractors can offer an exclusive limited labor warranty for projects using our materials.

**Do you build wood and composite decks?**
We specialize exclusively in manufacturing high-performance composite decking and railing products. Our innovative composite boards are designed to outperform wood, offering superior durability, low maintenance, and resistance to rot, splinters, and fading. We do not manufacture or build traditional wood decks.

**What is the cost per square foot?**
The cost per square foot for a deck project varies greatly depending on factors like deck size, design complexity, material choices (decking line, railing, lighting), and labor. We offer a helpful 'Cost Calculator' on our website to estimate material costs for your specific project.

**Can you add lighting or custom railings?**
Absolutely! We offer a wide array of lighting and railing options to customize your deck. Our product lines include various styles of metal, composite, glass, mesh, and cable railings, along with post cap, stair, and recessed lighting to complete your outdoor living space.

**Do you build covered decks or pergolas?**
While we don't directly build structures, we manufacture high-quality pergolas and an Under Deck Drainage System (RainEscape®) that allows you to create dry, covered spaces beneath your deck. Our TrexPro® contractors can help incorporate these into your outdoor design.

## Community Q&A

**Q: What is deck board color?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is deck board color?

A: That's our Transcend Spiced Rum product.

**Q: what are the color names for the deck boards?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love this color combination! What color names are used here?

A: That's Select Saddle and Winchester Grey.

**Q: what trex color is the decking?** *(in Photo Questions)*

what trex color is the decking?

A: That is Transcend Spiced Rum with Transcend Vintage Lantern border.

**Q: I’m looking for a natural gas fire bowl to put on composite deck?** *(in Porches & Decks)*

I’m building a house now. I have the option to run a natural gas line under the trex decking to the middle of the deck for a fire pit. I don’t want a table, I’d like a 36 inch round fire pit. Are there any that are appropriate for use on composite decking? I’ve looked at a lot of them in line but it’s never clear if they’d be ok in a deck?

A: Hello and thank you for choosing Trex. Firepits are safe to use over our decking but we highly recommend having a barrier below, such as the Deck Protect system, which prevents there being to much heat coming in contact with the decking material. Deck Protect comes in a number of different shapes and sizes to fit most firepits, which can be found online at deckprotect.net. If you have further questions, please feel free to call us at 800.289.8739. Kindly, Trex Customer Care

**Q: What colour of trex on deck?** *(in Porches & Decks)*

Hi - I am wondering what colour of trex I should use on my deck. I will be using the sienna coloured pressure treated would for as a privacy fence about 15 feet away. Thanks!

A: Hi there!
Thank you so much for your interest in Trex. Below is a link to our Color Selector Tool. This should help you pin point the best color for your deck!

https://www.trex.com/inspiration/colors/

Thank you,
Trex Customer Care Team

**Q: Alternate Pattern on Trex Composite Decking?** *(in Porches & Decks)*

We are using Trex for a large flat deck. The trex will be installed from the house out... perpendicular to the house (because of previous posts etc.)

I find the pattern (Trex Select... the lowest cost Trex) to be pretty fake looking. We are thining of breaking it up a bit by using 2 one direction, 2 other direction etc. Here is a picture of the material as we would use it.

What do you think? (alternating 1 then 1 seemed to be a bit dizzy-making so don't want to use it that way.)
Thanks!

A: Thank you for your interest in Trex! When installing Trex Select deck boards we recommend installing the deck boards with the grain pattern running in the same directions on all boards. If the grain pattern is alternated when the light reflects off the pattern it can make the deck boards appear to be a different color. If you have any additional questions or we can be of any additional assistance please reach out to us at 1-800-BUY-TREX. Kindly, Trex Customer Care Team
