We had already picked out our new granite and gave that to Tatiana in advance, as well as pictures of our kitchen area. By the time we got to CFM, she had already picked out 15 or more possible suggestions for tile. We reviewed all the selections she came up with, along with a few more she pulled as she learned our taste - it was very helpful to have someone that knows all the inventory when there are hundreds of possible directions to go in. She was very helpful on color compatability with our new granite and also recommended a tile orientation that would look more contemporary to match our taste (hadn't even thought about that!) She had a good process for eliminating the tile we liked the least, until we got it down to the top two or three. Final selection was something we probably would not have found on our own. I want to lighten my granite and backsplash. so far we’ve narrowed it down to Taj Mahal, Madre Pearl, and White Pearl quartzites....any suggestions?? A: I have to agree with the previous commenters. If you choose to keep your granite, pick the lightest tone in the granite and use that as a guideline for selecting your new backsplash. As far as the new stone countertop, I favor Madre Pearl, it has a very bright and neutral tone. **Q: Love the stone on the fireplace! Can you please tell me what it is?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: We had a limited engagement on this project, i.e designing custom cabinetry only, and tile was done by the contractor hired directly by the client, but I believe it was some sort of ledger stone. **Q: How to put wall art on top of the bed?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Is there any recommendations for color,size and how far it should be placed from the bed? Thanks A: I normally do not advise my clients to place anything over the bed, for safety reasons, but, also, in your case, placing tall framed art above each night stand would work much better with the established overall geometry of this space. Hope this helps! **Q: Window trim and curtains or not??** *(in Design Dilemma)* I couldn't decide about whether to put trim around this big sliding glass door, as we were redoing the base and door trim around the house. I went with yes, but I'm second guessing. Also, should I put curtains? I was thinking the windows were too close to the wall, but through another post. Someone suggested it and now I'm reconsider. Thoughts?  A: I would! You have a nice height over the top of your slider, so I would install your hardware as close to the ceiling as possible, and, even if you don't need any privacy, you could use some light-filtering fabric and it would look gorgeous!
