> I worked with Justin on a project in Occidental, Sonoma. I found him extremely knowledgeable, approachable, creative, flexible, humble and professional. He was a pleasure to work with - I would highly recommend him as an architect.

**★★★★★ — Groza Construction, June 2017**

> We work with JTP Architects on a regular basis. What a great firm! Solid designers, very communicative, diplomatic, fair, and fun to be around. They are at the center of successful projects and we like general contracting for them.

**★★★★★ — Lauren Perlov, March 2015**

> We hired Justin a few years ago to help us with our remodel and he did an amazing job. In addition to being knowledgeable, thorough and creative, Justin was also extremely patient and really listened to our thoughts and ideas. He was also flexible and willing to explore new ideas as the project unfolded. Justin is talented, easy to work with and went the extra mile with us to ensure that we were happy with the end-result. I recommend Justin without hesitation! (And did recommend him to a friend, who thinks very highly of him as well.)

> Justin came to us at the recommendation of our contractor when we decided to build our home in Carmel By-The-Sea, CA. They had never worked together, but our contractor said he had always wanted to work with Justin Pauly. From day one, Justin was architectural genius! Moreover, he was a delight to work with, listened to our needs and wants and was able to create for us the perfect home. He has an amazing attention to every single detail, is able to guide you in your decision making struggles, and if you allow, he will help you make the right decision each and every time. Most importantly for a home owner, he worked in sync with the General Contractor and they complimented each other. We would recommend Justin without hesitation. Mica & Laureen Hill

> Justin is a great architect. We recently completed a major renovation of our circa 1920's home and he was our MVP. We love a contemporary style, and wanted to create a modern space with respect for the period of our home. Justin managed that wonderfully.

> Here's what we did: We moved a laundry upstairs, and added a new bathroom next to it. Downstairs, we removed a hallway, doubled the size of the kitchen, re-designed a bathroom, and added a back porch and deck. Special mention goes to the unused section of our front porch Justin proposed we turn into a bonus powder room. You'd never know it hadn't always been there. We also dug into the foundation to change the entrance to the basement. We get rave reviews on complete transformation of our entire home every time, and we only added some 200 sq ft. The flow through our home is completely natural, and the efficiency in use of space is incredible.

> Justin had great balance in being able to listen to my needs, ask critical questions, while applying some serious expertise. He is extremely easy to work with, even-keeled, and always in listening mode. No drama - anywhere from floor planning to project completion. We live in Palo Alto which is notorious for its difficulty in the permitting process. That would be another writeup but let's just say that Justin navigated and negotiated his way through that minefield so that we got permits for everything that we wanted to do. Justin was with us through the construction process, and helped tremendously to sort out the inevitable questions that arose after walls were opened up. Both the contractors and I appreciated the solution options he could produce on the fly. As for costs, Justin is very reasonable. Justin is extremely well-trained, an all-round nice guy and I can't recommend him highly enough.

> We hired Justin for the remodel of our 1929 Spanish home in Los Altos. Justin was so remarkably easy to work with - fantastic listener, passionate about his design but very cognizant of our budget. The finished product is wonderfully consistent with the original, but dramatically more spacious and full of light. We feel like he was able to respect the heritage of our home while modernizing it to be far more comfortable and inviting for both our large family and our entertaining. We had such a good experience working with Justin that we've also worked with him (since the remodel) on a small addition...and have consulted him on another project as well. We cannot recommend him highly enough.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Can you share information on the floor tile?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Thank you!

A: It's from a company called "Original Mission Tile" that we sourced from The Tile Studio in Seaside, CA.

**Q: CAN YOU TELL ME THE SIZE OF THE ISLAND AND ISLAND PENDANT LIGHTS?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I think it was about 4'x8' and the lights are from Circa as I recall.

**Q: I love the wonderful lines of this sofa.** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is there a chance you might share with me who the designer is? Please know any reply will be most graciously received.

A: We pulled the sofa out of my own house for the photoshoot. It was handed down from another family member who, I believe, had it custom made. Sorry I can't help with more info.

**Q: what wood you used on the soffits and stain if stained? thank you** *(in Photo Questions)*

can you please tell me what type of wood you used for the soffits and what stain if any was used over it? Thank you kindly.

A: Western Red Cedar with no stain- just a clear sealer. It looks clear in the picture, but I believe it was ordered as STK.

**Q: How far apart are the battens?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Seems like they are father apart than 16" o.c.

A: I don't recall the exact spacing on the battens, but I know we used advanced framing techniques to increase the amount of insulation, so the stud spacing is 24" o.c. Battens could be more than 16".

**Q: Exterior and Interior** *(in Photo Questions)*

Getting ready to rehab an old brick ranch. I love, love, love both the exterior and interior wall colors. Please can you share what they are?

A: Sorry, I don't have the precise exterior wall color, but the interior is a integrally colored plaster.
