> I cannot recommend Cy Lo Builders highly enough! They are, without a doubt, the best contracting company I've had the pleasure of working with.
>
> I’ve entrusted them with two bathroom remodels in my home and a large office renovation, and each project yielded outstanding results. Cy is gifted artistically, and his creativity shines through in every detail of his work.
>
> One of Cy's standout qualities is his ability to devise smart solutions for unique challenges. This comes up a lot when dealing with older homes. He has an understanding of historical architecture, often suggesting materials and finishes that are in harmony with the era of the building.
>
> Cy and his team demonstrate remarkable professionalism. They are always honest, tidy, friendly, and show great attention to details. They consistently return phone calls and texts promptly, which is an invaluable trait these days! Their reliability is unmatched; they show up as scheduled and diligently complete every job.
>
> While Cy Lo Builders may not provide the lowest estimates if you’re comparing, I assure you they offer the best value for the high quality of workmanship and the peace of mind they bring. You won’t experience the numerous headaches that often accompany renovations when working with Cy Lo Builders.
>
> If you're looking for a contractor who combines excellence with integrity, look no further than Cy Lo Builders. I wholeheartedly endorse their services!

**★★★★★ — deeyo, Dec. 2012**

> I have known Cy Lo for many years and in that time he has done numerous projects for me from relatively small repairs to major remodeling. In all circumstances, he was completely professional, fair, honest and a pleasure to work with.
>
> One mark of a good contractor is the ability to really listen to a client . He did that, discussing the projects in language that I could undertand and explained my options every step of the way. He did a bathroom project for me at a property I own and the results were fantastic. He seems also to be able to communicate and work well with his subcontractors and that makes every project go much smoother.
>
> He built a wall installation that I saw and wanted in my house. He worked from photos and my descriptions of what I wanted it to look like. It came out better than I expected.
>
> Having contractors in one's home can be a potential nightmare, but working with Cy has been a dream.

> We hired Cy to enclose our outdoor BBQ deck space since it gets really windy out there and we wanted to be able to enjoy it year round. Cy was so easy and pleasant to work with and flexible. We had our ideas of what we wanted, he listened, made some suggestions which made the final outcome even better. To keep costs down, we decided to buy recycled windows and Cy went shopping with us to pick out windows one afternoon. He does very good carpentry work and everything he did turned out way better than we expected. He knew I did stained glass and made sure to have a few spaces open so we could put in some special pieces. The whole thing turned out great and working with Cy was one of the better experiences we've had working with Contractors. Definitely would us Cy Lo again. He has a lot of experience, does high quality work, is an absolute pleasure to work with and easy going. Thanks Cy!

> Cy Lo Builders wasn't the least expensive bid I received but I didn't get slammed with change orders, which I knew would happen with the others We did have some unexpected hiccups, but he did some free and was reasonable about the others. His quality of work was outstanding. They always kept a clean work space, which was incredibly important since I lived in my condo while they remodeled my kitchen.
> If you're looking for a GC who has an eye for detail and can think outside the box, Cy is your guy! Tina DiRienzo

> Cy and his incredible team renovated our Noe Valley home from basement to roof shingles. Their work was impeccable -- professional and detail-oriented -- and they were wonderful to work with. Cy and his team came up with on-the-job solutions for unexpected issues, whether it was drainage or tiling or figuring out ways to get better cell phone coverage.
>
> Cy brought many years of experience to this project; his team included expert tilers and the subs he brought in to work on the plumbing and electrical in our house are some of the best in the Bay Area. Our job included lifting our house to gain ceiling space, ripping out an attic, installing a staircase, redoing every kind of flooring (from reclaiming 100 year old Douglas fir planks to installing engineered wood), reconfiguring rooms and even moving a garage from one side of the house to the other. Cy and his crew worked "smart," continually kept us informed and were just really nice guys to be around. They are true craftsman, and their work is impeccable. They have continued to work for us -- Cy believes in a "lifetime guarantee" -- and just completed a fantastic NASA-themed treehouse for my kids.

**★★★★★ — larrybeck, Nov. 2012**

> Cy built a custom bookcase for our living room. He explained the wood and moulding options available and discussed the pros and cons of each.
> Although our fireplace mantle is really old, Cy was able to match the fireplace moulding design on the new bookcase.
> He built the bookcase in his wood shop and delivered it assembled with the exception of the shelving which he and his assistant attached at our house.
>
> It was delivered on time and on budget. And the craftsmanship is outstanding.
>
> It's the best made piece of "furniture" we own and he did a fantastic job. It looks as if an original built in bookcase which is exactly how we we wanted it to look
>
> Cy has also done other woodworking projects for us and I would use him again and recommend him to anyone.

**★★★★★ — twinkstern, Nov. 2012**

> Working with Cy Lo turned out to be a wonderful experience when we re-modeled our kitchen/dining areas.
>
> Cy Lo and his workers were on-time, efficient, cleaned up after themselves each day, and made the entire process a happy time. His experience and knowledge were put to good use with the limited space and light we had available, and what was going to be something quite simple, turned out to be elegant as well.
>
> Cy was able to delegate to several excellent subcontractors (electricity, plumbing and parquet floors) and kept everything moving along on schedule. But the most effective part was Cy at the helm, making sure all the permits were gathered, the new appliances and cabinets put into place and the backsplash and lightwell lined up for a beautiful view
>
> I would recommend him to anyone who plans to do any work on their homes. He was inventive, organized and the best.

## Selected projects

- [Pacific Heights, San Francisco](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/pacific-heights-san-francisco-pj-vj~6237285)
  - Location: San Francisco, CA
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: A special hanging art piece necessitated the existing ceiling over a stairwell to be structurally reinforced. Special care was taken because the home was lived in the beautiful wood stairs couldn't be damaged! There were several areas throughout the home that needed updating, Venetian plaster walls, changes in existing cabinetry, minor walls moved, floors refinished. We coordinated this with our subcontractors and specialty subs for a beautiful result.
- [House addition on a spectacular hillside view](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/house-addition-on-a-spectacular-hillside-view-pj-vj~6237294)
  - Location: San Francisco, CA
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: This home addition took full advantage of hillside view overlooking San Francisco. The addition required the hillside to be reinforced from sliding. The hillside facade had a roof bump up and an office built below the main floor with an outdoor access of a spiral staircase. Great use of natural light and mid-century furnishings made this remodel a gem.
- [Small Studio, Big Insides](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/small-studio-big-insides-pj-vj~6263591)
  - Location: San Francisco, CA
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: Though this studio is a scant 490 sq.ft., the use of space is clever and every square foot is useful. The studio has a modern kitchen, with Quartz countertops, an electric fireplace, entertainment area, and small office. The "backsplash" of the office is a magnetic stainless panel so pictures can be mounted with magnets. To make it open, a Murphy bed was incorporated into the custom cabinetry.
- [Traditional Entryway, Front room and Bay window](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/traditional-entryway-front-room-and-bay-window-pj-vj~6261182)

  - Description: A whole apartment remodel in an high rise building overlooking Aquatic Park in the North Beach San Francisco. As necessary in High Rise Buildings, all construction from demolition to construction materials must go through the elevators, or walking up 10 flights of stairs! This Elegant remodel takes advantage of natural lighting in the day time with an open plan. Pocket doors save space in this remodel.
- [San Francisco Sunset District addition](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/san-francisco-sunset-district-addition-pj-vj~6258697)

  - Location: San Francisco, CA
  - Photos: 9
  - Description: This remodel in a Nob Hill Apartment was a challenge as there were concrete ceilings which precluded conventional recessed lighting. As typical in High rises, all work had to be transported through elevators including demolition of the entire existing apartment. The elegant kitchen/dining/ great room was a success with great natural lighting and fun accent lighting
- [Karp-Haahr Residential Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/karp-haahr-residential-remodel-pj-vj~34185)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 18
  - Description: This Noe Valley residence in San Francisco had a significant upgrade. The house was raised 18" to provide ceiling height for ground floor living. The home was gutted to the studs, structural elements were installed so walls could be reconfigured. Though modern, the house retains much of it's Victorian elements and blends both traditional and modern design for casual living
- [Modern Apartment Full Remodel overlooking the San Francisco Bay](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/modern-apartment-full-remodel-overlooking-the-san-francisco-bay-pj-vj~6256766)
  - Location: San Francisco, CA
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: This project was in a highrise apartment building overlooking the San Francisco Bay in North Beach. We are experienced in the challenge of working in high rise apartment buildings: All work and materials brought in and out of elevators! Constant dust controls to keep neighbors happy. This building is not square but curved, so special challenges and considerations must be taken in all measurements and placement of walls, cabinets, and finishes.
- [Space Capsule Tree Playhouse](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/space-capsule-tree-playhouse-pj-vj~45939)
  - Location: San Francisco, CA
  - Photos: 17
  - Description: This is a Space Capsule Tree playhouse I designed and built for my client's kids. The inspiration is the Apollo Moon Program Command Module, using new, found and re-imagined parts. I built it on a tree deck which is accessed by a rope ladder. Later on I added railings for safety.

## Community Q&A

**Q: how it works?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I'm an antenna man based in Auckland and I have never seen things like this , it's amazing, i'm eager to know what's it for, how it works, who built these?
http://www.aucklandsatellitetv.co.nz/

A: Hi there,
They are vegetable steamers! They open and close like flower petals, The kids like to "calibrate" them by adjusting them wider or smaller. This part of structure was the "food section" as the center cylinder was made from a tea tin. Thanks, Cy

**Q: where did you buy these type of antennas?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi, I responded in your other picture, but these are Vegetable steamers! They open and close like flower petals, which the kids like to adjust to "calibrate" them.. Thanks!

**Q: Amazing! what did you use to make the body of the rocket?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hmm, I wonder if I could hook something up to them....
