A unicorn undeveloped large hilltop view acreage lot 30 mins from town, with privacy and gated paved road access was found/septic inspected/soil samples/lot survey with partial topography, then purchased by us late spring 2021, design/plan phases 1 and 2 were immediately started then. I started this process 20 years ago collecting ideas, unique photos, and actual fixture model numbers and their pricing -saving them first on Houzz's ideabooks, then I just streamlined and kept a running shared AppleNotes list a mile long over many years -I think I blew them all away when we showed up with that, prepared for class. But we were open to these pros' new suggestions, too. It all clicked. Yes, it's expensive...much more than any "just add water production-built house" (I sold 400+ production new homes for 10 years so I'm biased against those). We really got what we paid for. The design creature comforts throughout inside and outside, our Milarc custom walnut cabinetry designed for two cooks to prep/cook and eat in at the same time, our Miele/Wolf/Sub Zero appliances, our Grohe master bath super-shower -it's all so much to list. If you're in the Northern Colorado area, take a look at the several other highly rated custom home builders, read their policies and get their sample contracts. These custom builder contracts differ greatly, it's worth paying an attorney to review them before you commit. We chose HighCraft because they were fair and the right fit for our risk tolerances. Their homeowner references were transparent and true. I especially wanted to complement HighCraft's willingness to respect our privacy and not let curious random people know who we are. A: Hi JJ Jones! The backsplash that was used on this project is no longer being manufactured, but it is a ceramic subway tile in a "stone" color.
