**★★★★★ — Oasis Architecture, Sept. 2015**

> I had the pleasure of working with John Zerrer on a very challenging project - the restoration/renovation of a mid 19th century townhouse, plus a large, modern addition to it's rear. Oasis Architecture prepared the plans, and John Zerrer flawlessly executed the project. John is the consummate professional - meticulous, detail oriented, organized, principled, and creative. The construction work on this project, as executed by John and his crew, was impeccable. I would recommend John Zerrer to anyone looking for results of the highest quality.

**Comment from John Gehri Zerrer:**

> Thank you Jonathan. We were excited to work with you on your beautiful design. Loved the way you married the Federal vernacular with the modern additions with the large black windows and standing seam roof. One of my favorite project designs.

**★★★★★ — Niece Lumber, July 2015**

> Niece Lumber is proud to call John Zerrer a partner. John has been building beautiful projects for many years. John's focus has always been on his client. John's projects are always one of a kind and the level of craftsmanship is unparallelled. No matter what the architect draws, John can build it.

**Comment from John Gehri Zerrer:**

> Thanks Marc for the kind words. Always a pleasure to do business with Niece Lumber.
> John Z

**★★★★★ — francescog, June 2015**

> We brought on John to do a complete interior renovation to our 1960's rancher in New Hope Pa. John made the whole process go as smoothly as possible.
> He was in constant contact, provided complete liaison with all the sub-contractors and shared design ideas. He pushed us a bit further than we felt comfortable with, but with great results. We would recommend John without hesitation.

**★★★★★ — patinlambertville, May 2015**

> John did an extensive kitchen renovation at my home and did an excellent job. He has wonderful and professional people working with him who completely respect his ability to manage. . He is ALWAYS on the job and available to answer any question that may arise either by the homeowner or workmen.
> The most amazing .....he runs a job like a fine tuned violin. He and his people NEVER miss a day and they stay with that job until it is DONE!! Most impressive. He manages everyone's job so there is no wasted time.
> If John and crew are not available I will wait until they are...
>
> He did a project in 2010 and is working with us on another this June.

**Comment from John Gehri Zerrer:**

> Thank you Pat. You're one of my favorite clients. We enjoy working with you.

**★★★★★ — Pickell Architecture, Feb. 2015**

> I have had the pleasure of working closely with John on several spectacular projects, including the Stone Creek Barns and Edgewood. John is always looking to raise the level of our architectural design, and to make each project as good as it can be. He brings his artistic vision and love of fine craftsmanship to each aspect of the project. We often have trouble getting good craftsmen on a project, and must therefore simplify our details. When John is the builder, I know that rather than headaches, I will instead have fun elaborating exquisite details. All that, and he is also able to meet demanding schedules and keep our clients happy.

**★★★★★ — Liquidscapes, Dec. 2014**

> I have had the opportunity and privilege to meet John, see his work first hand and enjoy his enthusiasm for what he does. He loves what he does, truly and it is so evident in his work. His commitment to deliver only the highest quality of work shines through. He wants and loves to be challenged by his clients and the professionals he works with. An out of the box thinker!!
>
> I am honored to know him and I look forward in seeing what he is working on next, it is truly a treat!!

**★★★★★ — Lew NYC, May 2014**

> When we decided to buy a country home around an hour and half west of our NYC residence, we asked around the area - starting with the local hardware stores, lumber stores, and building supply stores - and everyone was unanimous in their answers: John Zerrer. But would someone with this great a reputation have a moment to spare to even meet with us? Indeed he did and upon our first meeting he was personable, easy-going, yet astute and sharp in listening to us and asking questions that would place us squarely on the same page together. A plan unfolded and in short order, we literally handed him our home so that he could do his magic. While there were many specifications that my husband, world-renowned interior designer, would apply to the scope of the work, John not only accommodated them, but had suggestions that improved on them. Within the time promised that the work would be done, our home was transformed into a place of exemplary beauty. Since then, it has been featured on a tour of homes as well as serving as a space for art being exhibited, charity dinner functions, and high profile soirees and galas. Events aside, this simple 1890 Victorian farmhouse is still simple in its newly-acquired breathtaking beauty and is ultimately a place of homey comfort that we will be in love with for years to come, all thanks to John Zerrer.
> NOTE: This website only allows for 1 month to be chosen as the date of the project, but this project took place over a 6 month period, which we considered to be a short period of time considering the staggering and expansive amount of work that had to be done.

**★★★★★ — griffithd, Aug. 2012**

> We hired John to build a coved deck on the back of our house. Working with us and the designer we were able to make budget and hold to the design concepts. His crews and subs were very professional and very much on schedule. John's is an excellent communicator and problem solver. We will hire him again as we will his subs.

**Comment from John Gehri Zerrer:**

> Thank you Mr. Griffith, I love how this project evolved and I am very proud of the finished result. My crew and I look forward to working with you again on a future project.

**★★★★★ — beckhouse, Aug. 2012**

> John Zerrer did a great job building my house. I interviewed a number of builders and it was clear John Zerrer has a good knowledge of techniques and materials. Most of them do. What separated him from the others was his craftsmanship, and his sense of proportion and balance. This was important to me as I was involved in the design and needed someone who understood my intentions. His whole crew was tuned-in to the project, and cared about doing it right. Without question, Zerrer was the right choice.
>
> During construction Zerrer always looked out for our interests. My wife and I could trust that he would do what was needed to satisfy our wishes and always tell us the truth. We had some unusual and unexpected complications (there always are) and they were taken care of competently and quickly. He understood what mattered to us.
>
> The house ended winning the American Institute of Architecture award. Considering all the design decisions that have to be made during construction, the contribution of Zerrer and his crew was crucial. But more important than that, the house is well built and gorgeous. Inevitably, a guest will admire the craftsmanship and design and say, “they don’t build them like that anymore.” Actually, John Zerrer does.

**Comment from John Gehri Zerrer:**

> Robert, thank you for the kind words. Building this unique house from the foundation up was a challenging and stimulating task. Meeting your expectations and working with your creative ideas made the job interesting and enjoyable, and I am extremely proud of the results.

**★★★★★ — Rebecca W, Aug. 2012**

> My husband and I hired John to completely rebuild an old stone house. We chose him over two other builders not because he was the cheapest, but because the quality and workmanship he displayed were just what we were looking for. John oversaw the entire job, from demo to the finished trim, inside and out. The job entailed tearing the roof and second story, adding a sun room, and then completely rebuilding the house. It included a new second story, all new plumbing and electrical, new kitchen, new bathroom, everything. We wanted to rebuild the house even better than it had been, and that's what we did.
> We were extremely pleased with John's work and that of the sub-contractors with which he worked. John was on the site every day either overseeing the work, or doing it himself. He was always professional, enthusiastic, and up front about the costs and time the job would take. He gave us great ideas about finishing trim and even milled it himself. Our house is beautiful and well built. If we had to do it over again, we would hire John.

**Comment from John Gehri Zerrer:**

> Thank you Becky and Fred, it was a joy working with you on all three of your projects. Repeat business is the best compliment one can receive.

**★ — jamesmhiggins333, Aug. 2012**

> Major renovation of a weekend home, including coordination of new HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. There were serious oversight problems, including allowing the wrong, uninsulated, interior downlights to be installed, significant drafts because of faulty insulation, quality control problems such as poor drywall installation, and problems with billing and documentation, among others. Because he refused to fix the problems I had to sue him, and won a judgment in my favor.

**Comment from John Gehri Zerrer:**

> My company and our subcontractors made every effort to console Mr. Higgins and resolve his issues. I believe the results of the renovation were excellent and I’m proud of the work that went into it. Posted photos show the results of our work.

## Community Q&A

**Q: This is incredible. Where are the garage doors from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Who was the manufacturer/seller of the garage doors?

A: Garaga is the company. They are in Canada.. The California door is the model (I think).

**Q: Ceiling Fan Flicker** *(in Photo Questions)*

When the lights are on and the ceiling fan is running in the shop, is there a strobe/flickering effect? I am about to start finish work on a 40x60 shop and am considering whether or not to use rigid-stemmed pendant lights that hang beneath the ceiling fan to avoid this.

A: No flickering. Not sure exactly what type of florescent I have but love them. A good LICENSED Electrician can guide u there.

**Q: How big is this shop?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: 28' x 48'. Divided into 3 bays. I only use 1 bay, 16 x 28 for the shop. Always too small.

**Q: Do you know what wood and stain color are used on this barn door?** *(in Photo Questions)*

This is simply gorgeous! I’m trying to decide what to do with my new unfinished door and I just love this color.

A: Thank you. This is a cedar door made by Designer Door. We used a Sikkens exterior finish.

**Q: What is the approximate width of this room-from left to right? Thanks!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: 24-27'

**Q: Pitch?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What would your soffit height and pitch be? Trying to figure ridge height if it had a 2nd floor.

Thanks and that shop is too cool!

Dusty

A: Correction, roof pitch is 9/12. Sorry about that.
