> Kim of Hoover Architecture is an amazing architect! She "got" our aesthetic seamlessly and made our dream home a reality (even though it was a renovation!) It has been incredible watching her design come to life. Throughout the process, she was patient with our permutations and always took the time to answer questions and give advice. She was also available during the building phase whenever the contractors had questions about the design. If you are looking for an architect in the Hudson Valley/New Paltz area, look no further. You will not be disappointed.

> I've had the pleasure of working with Kim Hoover for nearly 15 years on various projects, both commercial and residential. On every project she has demonstrated outstanding creativity, technical knowledge, and professionalism in all aspects of her architectural work. She has an exceptional ability to balance innovative design with her practical functionality that set her apart from many architects. Kim listened to my concerns and wishes on each project we worked together on and always offered a solution...she was invested fully!
>
> In addition to her technical abilities, Kim is an absolute pleasure to work with. She had my full confidence on every project!

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you for your kind words Kim! It has been a privilege to work with you over the years. As someone who brings such clarity, commitment and partnership to the process, it made it possible to create an amazing home (and guest barn!) for you and I hope you enjoy many many years in them!

**★★★★★ — Andrew Stern, Sept. 2023**

> We simply could not have realized our upstate home dreams without Kim. She is so kind and considerate, so knowledgeable and easy to work with... Whereas most high-end architects charge an exorbitant fee as a % of whatever they design, Kim works off a cost per hour basis, which was significantly less expensive than her peers... for what I would consider superior results. We wanted a custom, modernist home that still felt cozy AND fit our specific, forested lot... and she delivered our dream in spades. She took our vision and turned it into a reality, AND introduced us to our contractor who is also the absolute best in the business. I just cannot recommend Kim highly enough. If and when we ever do anything else in that area of the world, she's our first (and only) call.

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you so much for the opportunity to work on @littlerockcabin ! You and Christine were amazing and knew what you wanted and I hope you enjoy the house for years to come!

**★★★★★ — annampomykala, Feb. 2023**

> We are so fortunate that Kim Hoover planned our renovation. She expertly captured our priorities and was creative about modifications to our plans that would reduce costs. She clearly explained the permitting process and referred us to excellent contractors. Thanks to Kim we love our home and the process was much less stressful than we imagined!

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you Anna! I hope your house is greater than you ever hoped for!

**★★★★★ — jimandjoe, Dec. 2021**

> Our collaboration with Hoover Architecture started nearly 14 years ago. We interviewed about a dozen architects, and it was clear Kim Hoover stood out from the rest -- she understood what we wanted and didn't allow us to make bad choices. Kim isn't an architect who will nod and smile, and then design an unworkable house: she listens, advises, listens again, explains and then uses her extraordinary knowledge of current and historic design trends to create beautiful homes and building. The best part about working with Kim, aside from her creativity and talent, is her really superior communication skills. We were never left hanging and she often pro-actively reached to us to make sure the project was proceeding even after her designs were stamped and finished.
>
> We've built two homes with Hoover Architecture -- one is super contemporary and the other more traditional. Both are on the Hudson and each maximizes the views up and down the river. In selling the first house she designed for us, her name became part of the realtor's marketing strategy and help assure us four offers in one weekend, all above the asking price.
>
> Kim has an extensive list of local honest and reliable contractors, electricians, engineers, plumbers, etc, and during the pandemic, this proved to be a life-saver for the project. We leaned on her often to help select siding material, roof shingle colors, garage door designs, windows, baseboard width etc. Were it not for Kim's sound counsel, we would still be debating what color to paint the house. Here's an example of how she goes the extra mile: Kim pointed out, as we cleared the land, that the trees we were taking down could be used as flooring and pointed us to local millers. Today, we live in a home that honors the land on which it is built. Every piece of visible wood was milled from the property and thanks to her, it is literally breath-taking.
>
> By the same token, Kim is not reluctant to explain to the new homebuilder why an idea might not work -- and is always happy to suggest alternatives. I cannot count the number of times she saved us from ourselves.
>
> Most of all, she is tireless, dedicated, patient and incredibly cheerful. To be honest, I can't imagine hiring anyone but Kim Hoover to design a house in the Hudson Valley. There are some great architects around here, but none compare to the entire package of services you get from Hoover Architecture.

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> It was an honor to work with you and I think you both were becoming experts in the field by the second house! I'm glad you are enjoying the fruits of your labor!

**★★★★★ — Jeremiah Faith, Oct. 2021**

> The most important decision we made when building our house was choosing Kim Hoover as the architect. It was the first house we had built and we were totally naive to how many bumps there would be along the road. We found out about Hoover Architecture via Houzz where Kim had stellar reviews across the board, and she was located somewhat in the area of upstate New York where we hoped to build our home in the woods near a lake. We had travelled a couple times around Iceland and my Italian wife had lived for a time in Sweden; we loved the simplicity of the Scandinavian houses and hope to incorporate aspects of that design into a house that would fit into the lake community where we planned to build. Although none of the houses in Kim's portfolio were exactly the style what we wanted for our house, it was clear she could work in a wide variety of styles and everything she designed looked great, including one we particularly liked that had many European features.
>
> When we met with Kim to discuss the house, we had a general idea of what we wanted for floor plan and the exterior (which Kim grasped immediately). Kim took our main ideas and turned them into a house that was far better than we had imagined. Every one of our favorite parts of the house was an idea that Kim suggested based on a vague concept from us. For example, we were interested in having some type of outdoor space that felt like an extension of the inside. All of our ideas did not really mesh well with the lot or the simplicity of design we were seeking. Kim had a great idea to put a huge glass door on the side of the living room that exited to the deck and to extend the roof of the house to cover half of the deck. The result is that the sun enters the house in the winter but not the summer (so the house warms in the winter but doesn't overheat in the summer) and the deck feels like an extension of our living room -- making our somewhat shallow depth but wide living room/kitchen feel spacious and continuous with the outdoor space. It's by far the best part of the house and it's all a credit to Kim's creativity, as are many other features of the house. Kim not only made sure the house looked great, but also knew the land, geography, orientation and put it all together in a way that is balanced (now if only we can get our landscaping ramped up to complement it all!).
>
> Overall Kim was good at everything. We did not live close to Kim's office, but she was willing to work remotely via video conferencing (before the pandemic when such things were far less common). She was always responsive. She was always the person with the best idea. And she was always enthusiastic and extremely helpful. If we every build anything again, we seek out Kim Hoover as the architect.

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you Jeremiah! Even though your project wasn't local, I am so glad I was able to work on it with you. Thank you for keeping an open mind about what the house should be. It's warm and inviting, and fits into the woods like it's meant to be there. I know you and your family will spend countless hours on that amazing deck! I'm looking forward to getting some fantastic photos of the whole house!

**★★★★★ — Justin Bowe, May 2020**

> I am a residential remodeling contractor and custom home builder in New Paltz NY. I have had the pleasure of working with Hoover Architecture on multiple projects. I can say first hand that Kim has delivered in meeting her clients expectations and vision. Kim is a great listener and is very responsive. Her designs are thoughtful, intelligent and play well with the existing home and/or landscape. If you are looking to build a home, an addition, or any other type of project in the mid hudson valley call Kim you will not be disappointed.

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you for the kind words Justin! I always know a job will go well when you're on it. Looking forward to working with you in the future!

**★★★★★ — Elizabeth Elkin, April 2020**

> I have worked with Kim Hoover on multiple projects. She always brings insightful, creative, and elegant solutions to her design work. I have been lucky enough to collaborate with her for mutual clients and was so impressed that I have hired her for work at my own home as well. Her experience and understanding of architecture along with the design of beautiful living spaces are unparalleled.

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you Liz! It's always fun working with you on any type of project!

**★★★★★ — Cat, Sept. 2019**

> We wanted to work with a local architect for our addition. After meeting with several companies we chose Hoover Architecture. Kim was thoroughly professional from the initial contact to the final drawings. She was also very easy to work with, inspiring trust by being continuously responsive. She took our original concept and then worked with us to expand on it so the eventual design worked with the existing lines of our house. When an unexpected problem emerged on site at the very start of construction, she quickly adapted the drawings to the new situation. The end result is an absolutely gorgeous and beautifully built addition to our home.

**★★★★★ — M N, Nov. 2018**

> I met with at least 5 design professionals before choosing Kim Hoover and she was the clear choice as she was the only one who actually listened to what I was looking to accomplish, worked with my ideas and concepts (many of which were not traditional ones), added her input and creativity and manged to get everything done in a timely manner. She is more than pleasant to work with has a great sense of design and style. I cannot recommend enough and will certainly be hiring Kim again for any other projects!

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you Mughen--it's been great to work with you and seeing your home evolve into exactly what you'd like it to be!

**★★★★★ — Troika Newson, Jan. 2018**

> Kim gave us excellent direction in what we could accomplish within our budget. Kim is easy to work with, personable, knowledgeable and completed our plans quickly. I would highly recommend using Kim if you are looking for a competent architect that is easy to work with and listens to your needs.

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you Troika! I hope you enjoy your new spaces as much as I enjoyed working with you!

**★★★★★ — claudine fasse, Dec. 2017**

> My husband and I hired Kim after interviewing several local architects in the Hudson Valley (Ulster Co.). It was important to us to use a local architect, who could help us to incorporate all of the natural elements we love about the area we live in, that had creative vision and an excellent reputation. Kim surpassed our expectation! She listened to what was important to us in a home; a simple design that was new but had an old feel, an open plan that brought the outdoors that we love so much in and that the house fit in with the barn, horses and gardens. She designed a beautiful, amazingly functional home that incorporated all of who we are as a family so much so that when we moved in we never felt that new house unfamiliarity; it felt like home from the moment we walked in.
> Additionally, Kim was always on time with her plans, very professional and open and she was there with us for the entire building process when things came up where we needed her.

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you so much Claudine! You and Patrick were fantastic to work with and I'm so glad you love your new home!

**★★★★★ — Jay Herring, Dec. 2017**

> Kim was great to work work. I needed to remodel a 1970's kitchen and deck. She listened to what I wanted and incorporated those idea into the new design. When I got stuck on possible options, she was able to provide a reasonable number of good options to choose from. This enabled me to get the project successfully completed without having to become knowledgeable on all the options.
>
> I would recommend Hoover Architecture for any remodeling jobs (big or small).

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you for the kind words Jay! Your project really allowed us to create one fabulous kitchen and living space!

**★★★★★ — Rick Bottini, Feb. 2017**

> Kim designed my house and was very helpful, thorough, and responsive. I highly recommend her services. She made my house feel like a home.

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you Rick, for the wonderful opportunity and I'm so happy to hear your enjoying your home!

**★★★★★ — amyruthespo, July 2016**

> We hired Kim to design our custom home and we were thrilled with the results and the process to get there. Kim is a pleasure to work with - her easy going manner made the stressful process of designing and building a home so much nicer and her knowledge and expertise produced a gorgeous home that looks fantastic and functions perfectly. Kim delivered creative solutions to address a challenging sloping lot and unconventional lakefront set up and she was adept and patient with incorporating our endless stream of design ideas into a cohesive plan that met our vision. We recommend Kim without hesitation. She did a wonderful job and we continue to receive compliments on the home she designed for us.

> Hoover Architecture did a great job in designing our dream home! Kim Hoover was always very professional and quickly responded to our emails, phone calls, requests etc. She greatly took into account how we imagined our future house to look like, and she offered valuable design suggestions (e.g. when it came to energy efficiency, or roof shape). We are more than happy with the result!

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you for the kind words! You both had such great ideas and direction you wanted to go and it was such fun collaborating with you. Enjoy your new home!

> Kim was a true pleasure to work with. We had damage from carpenter ants and needed to replace a balcony, as well as support an exterior wall. She made it easy on us and the contractor. We would definitely use her again for other home additions.

**★★★★★ — schebesta70, Sept. 2015**

> Working with Hoover Architecture has been an absolute pleasure. Kim is an extremely knowledgeable architect and a constant professional with the utmost concern for her clients and colleagues. I would highly suggest her talents for any design project, large or small.

**★★★★★ — nyackcouple, June 2015**

> I went to Hoover Architecture when looking to build a new house. She was well known in the Town and once you meet her you will know why. Building a house is a very stressful venture and having an architect like Mrs. Hoover to keep you calm and make your ideas a reality is priceless. She never said she could not do something. At one point we went to her during construction and advised her of a barrel vault ceiling we saw on an HGTV show. Within a day she redesigned our great room with a ceiling that was the envy of all our friends. So I if you are looking for a talented architect with great people skills who will design the house of your dreams than Kim Hoover of Hoover Architecture is the perfect architect for you.

**Comment from Hoover Architecture, PLLC:**

> Thank you, and actually the best compliment are the repeat projects you've asked me to do!

**★★★★★ — Cecelia Lillard, June 2015**

> I have worked with Kim on a number of projects, ranging from small residential additions to large commercial projects. I have found that her sense of aesthetics and attention to design details result in architecture that is both beautiful and functional. The spaces she designs are well-articulated and flow programmatically. I have watched Kim work with a client through numerous design iterations until the client was fully satisfied with the design and the design was within budget. I'd feel confident recommending her to anyone needing architectural services.

**★★★★★ — malphhome, Sept. 2014**

> Kim Hoover at Hoover Architecture did an outstanding job. She listened to what we wanted in a house. Things like little details about our hobbies, she added as features into our house. She guided us in the right direction to figure out what we wanted in a house. Her style is classy but custom.
>
> She is cost conscious and very easy to work with.

We have had the pleasure to work with Hoover Architecture on a number of residential projects throughout the Hudson Valley. Kim Hoover is an incredibly knowledgable, experienced and talented architect. Kim not only brings the skill set that is required to a project but also the creative vision specifically needed to facilitate it. Our firm has recommended her services to a number of our current and past clients and will continue to do so in the future.

> Kim Hoover designed our house. During the process, she continued to turn challenges into opportunities to improve the project. Working off an existing sub-optimal foundation, she created a plan to maximize a great view, nestle the house into the landscape, and turned what would have been a dreary basement into a sun-filled room.
>
> She worked well with clients -- always listening throughout the process -- and with builders and contractors. Kim takes responsibility for her work, is on time and on budget.
>
> Her aesthetic sense is classic but imaginative. She's resourceful about new products on the market as well as time-honored techniques to make a house a showplace. In each stage of the process, Kim added value.
