What initially impressed us was their design vision. They came up with an vision for our property that we never would have imagined ourselves, and it completely transformed the space. > > What really stood out though was the execution. They successfully addressed drainage and grading issues that had been causing us problems for years, and the finished result looks fantastic while also functioning properly. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to turn a creative vision into reality were outstanding. > > I would highly recommend O'Neill Landscape Design to anyone looking for both strong design ideas and high-quality execution. ### All 50 reviews **★★★★★ — Steve, May 2025** > Working with Heidi was a great experience. > > When we started we had only vague ideas. Heidi spent time talking through this with us and asked a lot of questions, and ones specifically about the tastes of my wife and I. What she came up with was beyond our expectations, the patio is truly one of a kind and absolutely beautiful. > > Not only is she a great designer but was very hands on in the build and construction, which made everything really easy. The teams she works with are first class and we could not be happier. I could not give her a higher recommendation. **★★★★★ — Shannon, Jan. 2025** > Heidi and her entire team were absolutely amazing. Countless compliments from our neighbors on their unique work since it was completed. Heidi is genuinely an artist. Couldn't be more satisfied with the materials used, customer service, price, and overall presentation of our home. Very glad we worked together. **★★★★★ — Michael O'Neill, Sept. 2024** > Heidi is an absolute expert. She understands all of the complexities of designing and building out her landscape designs. The end result appears effortless, but it's anything but that for Heidi. She works tirelessly to make sure every detail is taken into account. Our yard has been completely transformed, and we look forward to seeing out landscape grow and mature over the years. Everything from land grading, to drainage, electrical implementation, plant types, privacy, watering schedule.... you name it, Heidi has considered it and will ensure it is taken care of to the highest level of quality. Her subcontractors are professional, detail-oriented and hard-working. I cannot recommend Heidi more strongly. We may even sign up to have our yard shown in the Ohio City Garden Tour in the coming years, we are so happy with the results. **★★★★★ — Lisa DeCato, Sept. 2024** > O'Neill Landscape Design is an excellent choice for your landscape design needs. Working with Heidi O'Neill was a real pleasure as her knowledge and sense of design are immediately apparent. She is truly and artist with plants and hardscape. Her sense of form, color, texture, line and scale created a landscape around our new pool that looks as if it has always been there and it is absolutely beautiful. Heidi is efficient, honest and fair. She responds quickly to any inquires, is always on time, can answer any question you may have and is very nice. I have recommended her to friends and will continue to work with her in my yard. I'm thrilled when I have a new project where I can work with Heidi. She is the best landscape designer in NE Ohio, you won't find anyone better. **★★★★★ — W S, Oct. 2023** > We worked with Heidi to design the landscape for our new construction custom home. She developed a comprehensive plan for irrigation, lighting and plants. It was a good experience working with Heidi, she is very meticulous. Our yard looks amazing! **★★★★★ — HU-627529430, Oct. 2023** > Heidi is a knowledgeable and talented designer! Throughout our entire project, from design to installation, she has been attentive to our goals. The project was well documented and Heidi kept us well informed along the way. She was always available, always reachable, always on-site as needed. > > Heidi’s team of contractors were professional, accommodating, and a pleasure to have on site, dealing with whatever came along during installation. All around it was a 5-star experience! **★★★★★ — HKS, Sept. 2023** > The design and the plants were interesting, not your usual run of the mill landscaping. The crew that did the installation were > fantastic. Highly recommend. 5 stars all around. **★★★★★ — dacoleman, Sept. 2022** > We are very happy with Heidi's design for our backyard deck and patio, with the workmanship of her crew. > She understood our goals, and offered two distinct designs for meeting them. She was very helpful in the selection of materials, and was reasonably accurate in estimating when the construction would begin, and how long it would take. She was responsive and the crew was easy to deal with when questions arose. And we are delighted with the results. **★★★★★ — Jill and Josh Miller, June 2022** > Heidi is a true professional. We truly wanted to transform our backyard from the soggy wooded area, to an outdoor extension of our house where we could spend many months(even in Cleveland) enjoying our family, friends, and alone time with nature. Heidi nailed it. From completely helping our grading issues and drainage, to creating a beautiful patio with gas firepit and grill island, she has given us a true Cleveland paradise. With Heidi's expert knowledge of plants, shrubs , and trees, she has given us a wooded wonderland with plants we had never seen before that flourish in our shaded backyard. Heidi was very responsive to big operational questions and down to the very detailed questions regarding outlet coverings on our fire pit. We highly recommend Heidi and ONeill landscaping! > Jill and Josh Miller **★★★★★ — mderamo1, Dec. 2021** > Heidi designed and installed a pool and outdoor living space in our backyard, including pool and spa, large patio with fireplace area, four-season heated pergola, and outdoor kitchen. The materials and layout are perfect for our home and look like they were always meant to be there. The plant material is wonderful with different plants and trees blooming throughout the spring, summer and fall. She also used the dirt from the pool dig to address drainage issues on the property which has been a huge help! Despite challenges with materials and workers presented during the pandemic, Heidi kept on top of everything and everyone to finish things up in a timely fashion. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and the new beautiful outdoor living space we can enjoy year round! **★★★★★ — C Ireland, Nov. 2021** > Heidi has great artistic vision combined with a vast knowledge of plants and excellent organization skills. She made ours dreams come true and our yard come alive! **★★★★★ — Jeffrey Biggar, Aug. 2021** > We engaged Heidi O'Neill Design & Landscaping to plan a Veterans Memorial for our school. From start to finish, Ms. O'Neill is a total professional, with a keen eye for the big picture as well as the details. She provided us great conceptual drawings from which we moved on to the final drawing; from there, she oversaw the construction and landscaping until the project was completed. On time and on-budget. > We are pleased with the way it came out, it is receiving rave reviews from visitors and we will engage Heidi in future projects. **★★★★★ — HU-699201806, July 2021** > Heidi transformed our landscape to totally enhance the beauty of our home. She took everything into consideration regarding sun, shade, water, and grading. The plants/ shrubs she installed are artistic, colorful, hardy and plentiful… and as we look at our home now we are delighted with the results. It has a garden effect everywhere we look. Heidi worked alongside her installers each and every day. She also tutored us on each plant and it’s care. > We would highly recommend Heidi O’Neil Landscaping. **★★★★★ — Emily Taylor, July 2021** > I was very happy with Heidi O'Neill. She was completely professional, offered me 4-5 designs to choose from, and then was happy to work with me to fine-tune and add/subtract elements to make it very much aligned with my vision. To her credit, she encouraged me to take some chances a little out of my comfort-zone and I am so glad she did because she was right!! Once the design was finished and approved, her crew created the whole project in very short order. It looked fabulous as soon as it was completed...and is absolutely stunning now a year later. I still use a flip-phone so cannot post a picture but would be happy to show it to anyone who is considering hiring O'Neill Landscape Design. **★★★★★ — lhopkins2155, July 2021** > We love working with Heidi ONeill. She has completed two projects for us and the results have been outstanding. Our yard is not large, but she has transformed it into a space worthy of a 5 star restaurant. Highly recommend. **★★★★★ — Jacci Kogan, Dec. 2020** > I highly recommend Heidi ONeill and ONeill Landscape Design. Heidi is the utmost professional. She is creative, flexible, patient, and has a hands-on management style with her team. We renovated both the front and backyard. Heidi took time to understand our vision and rendered drawings that enabled us to phase-in the project, and we couldn’t be happier with the results! Heidi is respected by the landscapers she works with, which translates into the highest quality outcomes. We feel Heidi provides a level of expertise and creativity that’s uncommon, but greatly appreciate. **★★★★★ — Todd Emch, Dec. 2020** > We had ONeill Landscape and Design come out to make a plan for a landscape design. She was very responsive and came out to see our property and to talk to us about our goals. She had someone come out to measure the grading of our property and then she came up with an initial plan. She is very experienced and skilled with design and was able to troubleshoot problems we had with grading. She was professional and responsive as we went through a couple of drafts. > > During the process of the landscaping and stone patio being installed she personally oversaw the crews and handled any issues that came up. Additionally she provided care instructions for the installation and encouraged us to contact her with any questions that might come up. When we requested substitutions in plants or changes she was very agreeable and helped us make the best choices. > > In summary she is a skilled and knowledgeable about landscape design and maintenance. She is professional and prompt in her communications with us. She was always present/attentive in supervising the installation and always followed through. > > Excellent: you cannot go wrong with ONeill Landscape Design and Installation. **★★★★★ — Joan Rieke, June 2020** > We moved into a new home in 2019 that needed a lot of landscaping help and it was overwhelming to us. We hired Heidi to design a plan for us in the fall of 2019. The plans she developed for us were above and beyond anything we could have imagined for our property. We hired her to act as the general contractor after finding her pricing very competitive. We couldn't be more pleased. She worked with our architectural review board to get approval on things we could not get approved ourselves. Her stone workers were skilled craftsmen and she re sculpted our yard into a true showcase. We have had so many people stop as they are driving by just to complement us on how wonderful the yard looks. She created a plan that took into consideration the character of the house and the types of plants I wanted. She has great vision and I feel very fortunate to have found her and had the opportunity to work with her. I would highly recommend her. **Comment from ONeill Landscape Design and Installation:** > Thank you Joan. It was a pleasure working with you! **★★★★★ — Elaine Scott, Feb. 2020** > We had a large front landscape renovation installed in summer 2018, which included an additional driveway and large planting areas. Heidi was in charge of it all and she was very knowledgeable, professional, and easy to work with. She was attentive to our needs and preferences and proposed several options for the design that would come in at different price points. She acted on our behalf to obtain all the necessary approvals from the municipality and was willing and able to make ongoing modifications to the design to accommodate our anxieties and municipal demands. We found her to be exceedingly well organized and she kept us up to date as the work progressed. She guided us in the selection of both hard-scape and plant materials and explained the pros and cons of each option. She made sure we understood what maintenance would be required to keep the plantings healthy and beautiful and gave us written instructions at project completion. We have observed the landscape through all four seasons now an there is good visual interest and appeal throughout the year. We enjoy looking at it every day. I can recommend Heidi ONeill without reservation; her services were of the highest quality. **★★★★★ — John Bertsch, June 2019** > Truly 5 star work. From the start Ms O'Neil was a true professional. She started with a complete evaluation of our design goals. She presented two plans both different but in meeting with the objectives. She thoroughly discussed the budget (which was kept to) and informed us of the process during each step. When the project started her team overcome true barriers but the wettest spring and early summer on record. The did a tremendous job, the workmanship is great. I would recommend her to anyone **★★★★★ — Andrea Simakis, June 2019** > We couldn't be more thrilled with Heidi O'Neill's high-quality, custom work. We moved into our historic home in Cleveland Heights some four years ago and, after tackling inside repairs, turned our attention to our patio and side yard, both in need of a total overhaul. We looked long and hard for a professional landscape architect to help us realize our vision for the property and found Heidi, who presented us with a design that was in perfect harmony with the look and feel of our mid-century modern home. In addition to the patio, Heidi and her team -- a swift and professional group -- installed plantings, a fire pit and fence. We look forward to working with Heidi on other projects, including a new landscape design for our front yard. **★★★★★ — Elisabeth Logan, June 2019** > I hired Heidi last summer to create a new landscape design for my front and back yard. We met to discuss what it was that I wanted to see, and how I wanted to feel when using the space. I wanted to have a deck, a seating area with a fire pit, and a separate seating area on the other side of the house, with evergreen trees in the back yard for privacy. Heidi recommended plants, flowers, and shrubs in the front yard and on both sides of the house too. I relied on Heidi's expertise to choose the best flowering plants and shrubs for each location. I also asked to have a new concrete driveway and sidewalk, which really highlighted the new design. We discussed budget each step of the way as well so there were never any surprises. It was a huge project, but Heidi made it flow very seamlessly. I knew what to expect and when. There is no way I could have done this on my own. The result was a completely transformed front and back yard. I love the yard. It's perfect for entertainment and not too hard to take care of. It's also the talk of the neighborhood. I've received so many compliments on the yard. I highly recommend working with Heidi O'Neill. You will get superior service and work for your investment. **★★★★★ — HU-366098375, June 2019** > Heidi did an excellent job with our landscaping project from design to actual completion of the project. She is meticulous and pays attention to details including implementation of the design plan. I would highly recommend her services. **★★★★★ — Bob Grossman, May 2019** > We hired O’Neill Landscape Design to totally redesign the landscape for the front of our house. She gave us a great design for the front and also the backyard too, which would be a phase two. Heidi’s team was on time and on schedule everyday. Heidi was personally involved every step of the project. We loved the finished product. I highly recommend this company. I wish I could find other contractors who are this good for non landscaping projects. **★★★★★ — Claudia Reyes, Aug. 2018** > We could not be more pleased after working with Heidi and her team. From the initial design to the final plant being put in the ground, it was an absolute pleasure to work with the entire team. We have discussed the next phases of our design that will occur next year, and cannot wait to start working on our future projects. > > During the initial design phase, Heidi was very open to listening to our ideas as to what we were looking to have the final design achieve. What was very much appreciated is that she was open to new ideas as the design evolved. Heidi would always go back and do research to see if the changes would fit the overall design, and we could always have a robust discussion around if the changes would be incorporated. > > During the installation, the team that worked with us for 3 weeks were professional and cared that the final product was impeccably completed. The team always had a great attitude every day which was great to see, and focused on doing the right thing versus taking the easiest way out. You got the sense that the installation team cared as if they were working on their own homes versus a client. **★★★★★ — Patricia Daly-Zake, Aug. 2018** > Heidi O'Neill, the owner of this company was a pleasure to work with. We used her company to clear our back yard of "junk" trees and unnecessary brush, and to fix some erosion issues within our "woods". She definitely fixed our erosion problem, by installing a small catch basin and pipes. In addition she used some beautiful slate to define the back of our property line and to hide the pipes. Now we have a beautiful grassy area off of our patio, and much more usable land. Ms. O'Neill was on time for every appointment and was easy to contact. Her response time was great, and she kept me informed about each phase of the project. We thoroughly enjoyed working with her! **★★★★★ — Julie Idoine Fries, June 2018** > Heidi was amazing! She guided us concept, refinement of that concept, and gave us a beautiful new yard. Our entire neighborhood has complimented her work and the change it has made in our curb appeal. We are excited to see our landscape continue to mature, enjoy our gorgeous patio and live outdoors as much as possible in NE Ohio! Particularly helpful were the guidelines for maintenance Heidi left us with. The guidelines are very easy to follow and will allow us to make sure we take care of our investment. Could not recommend O'Neill Landscape Design highly enough! **★★★★★ — Adam Miclot, Nov. 2017** > Heidi did a great job with planning and execution on our backyard redesign/remodel. We will complete other projects with her in the future **★★★★★ — engellindsay, Oct. 2017** > Heidi created a beautiful backyard space for us! We could never have imagined our yard could look the way it does now. Her design work and creativity are exceptional. She is unbelievably organized when it comes to managing the crews and presenting pricing options. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for beautiful work and fair pricing. **★★★★★ — larryfrankel3, Sept. 2017** > The installation went well and the newly planted perennial garden looks great. Heidi was professional and conscientious about the design and installation and supervised the entire project. Her crews were meticulous. We are pleased with her service. **★★★★★ — David Burg, Sept. 2017** > Heidi was a pleasure to have on the job, and I rarely have such an experience with a sub-contractor. She was a pro's pro, and I knew that she was in total control and that she'd deliver as soon as she walked in for the consultation. She dove deep - something about colors, childhood memories - because she was so concerned about getting the feel of the new patio and landscaping exactly like my wife and I envisioned. No to be melodramatic, but it came out even better than that. Very satisfied customer and nice to be told not to deal with her crews, but that all the key communication goes through her. Her post-work "walk through" took us deep into deer preferences, Japanese beetles and bulb sizes on a Norwegian spruce. Didn't see that coming, but now we're better prepared to make sure that the haven she created stands the test of time. **★★★★★ — J & G Greene, Sept. 2017** > Heidi is a full service contractor. The design and 2 year plan for implementation were outlined and executed as we agreed. She walked with us through all government approvals and pulled all permits. Each component of the project was priced out so we could choose and pay as we progressed from one phase of the project to the next. Heidi and her team were considerate and attentive to even the smallest details and she, in particular, was very "hands on". We had one glitch with a subcontractor overcutting the limbs of a tree providing privacy, but a plan for correction and restoration of privacy quickly ensued. > We are very pleased with our backyard project -driveway overhaul, patio, deck, landscaping and more. We recommend Heidi very highly and without reservation. **Comment from ONeill Landscape Design and Installation:** > Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate the trust you placed in me and my contractors to completely transform your yard while living through the construction dust and inconvenience with grace and kindness. Together we created several new outdoor rooms for your home, which I hope you enjoy for years to come! **★★★★★ — Diana Doernberg, Sept. 2017** > I have had other landscaping done in the past and thought I was satisfied with the results but looking at the completed project that Oneill Landscape Design and Installation did for me I can now see what outstanding landscape design really represents. The project was done with imagination and the "wow" factor. The people that worked on the creation were professional, very pleasant, and showed a sincere desire to finish every aspect of the installation completely and thoroughly. I really appreciated the review of all the plants and features at the end of the project and the tips on how to keep everything in peak condition. I highly recommend this company. **Comment from ONeill Landscape Design and Installation:** > Thank you Diana. I enjoyed working with you to create your amazing back yard and > YOU are an awesome client! **★★★★★ — drp2th, July 2017** > O'Neill landscape design worked with me to design a plan for the rear of my house, came up with the design, plantings, hardscape, and finally execution. This is the third year I have worked with O'Neill landscape design and have been extremely satisfied. **★★★★★ — Thomas Stauffer, July 2017** > We hired them to improve the landscaping and we very pleased with the outcome. Would highly recommend them. Very professional. **★★★★★ — Lisa Grimm, Jan. 2017** > Heidi and her team did a fantastic job with our backyard project this past Fall. She was sensitive to our needs/ideas and worked to incorporate them into the design. She was patience. We are thrilled with our new stone patio and rebuilt screen porch and can't wait to use this space this Spring. We would use her again. Her carpenter, Ben, is a master of problem solving. He is a true craftsman. **★★★★★ — Joan Selle, Dec. 2016** > We had the opportunity to work with this group last October. They are so much more than groups who just offer plants. Their concept of our project included giving suggestions of how to use our church property to conduct outdoor weddings and meetings and also how to use our roof rain water for irrigation. Heidi took us well beyond what we had even considered. She exceeded our expectations and we look forward to working with her again. This is a gem of a company **★★★★★ — Donna Ludwig, Dec. 2016** > We have known Heidi for 10 years. She was the first person we used to design our front and back yards. Her personal touch, follow through and prompt responses made us feel confident in our project. Our back yard is the high light of our home and if not for Heidi's vision it would have never been done. We are working with her again to help implement some things we didn't do the first time and it is like coming home. We love working with her and can't wait ti finish a second project under her care. **★★★★★ — Laura Sears, Dec. 2016** > I couldn't be more pleased with Heidi and her staff. Unexpected issues arose when the project was underway, and Heidi had expert tradesman out immediately to make the necessary repairs. While the project was relatively small in scale, comparatively, I never felt that it was less important than those on a larger scale. Her staff worked meticulously and quickly to get the job done. She is extremely professional and always responded to my communications in a very timely manner. I look forward to the next phase of my project. **★★★★★ — kathleenvisconsi, Dec. 2016** > The ONeill Landscale and Installation was wonderful. Heidi oversaw everything from beginning to end. She was professional, timely and talented. **★★★★★ — drkogz, Nov. 2016** > I worked with Heidi on my residential landscape project this year. From the first visit to the last communication I could not ask for a more competent, reliable professional. Her ability to listen to our wants and produce the vision truly exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend Heidi for any landscape endeavor. **★★★★★ — Heather Day, Oct. 2016** > Heidi projected and managed a complete redesign of the landscaping of our front and back yards (from a double lot house). Besides the landscaping itself, the project involved taking down old trees and a deck, removing old asphalt driveway, a new design for a cement driveway, new bluestone patio, and front and back steps and landing area to the house. > > We are extremely happy with Heidi’s work. From the beginning she was focused on how we wanted to use the space and then designed accordingly. She provided several options that really opened my eyes to the new ways of looking at our yard. Once we decided on the option we wanted, there were several rounds of refining the plan and with each one she delivered updated drawings. > > This was a big project for us and we had numerous questions along the way. Heidi listened to all of them, responded to concerns and made adjustments when appropriate. Just as important, she managed all the crews and parties involved in the project seamlessly; Heidi was our sole point of contact for the project. The project was delivered at the agreed budget and there was no surprise from the planning to the delivery stage. > > We have complete confidence in Heidi’s work and we plan to work with her again on future enhancement. Not surprisingly, several of our neighbors have plans to work with her as well! **★★★★★ — malougm, July 2016** > Heidi O'Neill did a wonderful job with our front yard. After waterproofing our front yard was looking pretty awful. Heidi met with us, listened to our wishes and wants, and gave us a gorgeous space. Her attention to detail and quality made this an easy process. Price quote was accurate and great value. **★★★★★ — HU-674449, July 2016** > I have worked with many landscapers over the years, but none as talented, professional, and creative as ONeill Landscape Design. We moved to or home in September and the landscaping was a disaster. The entrance to our home also needed to be completely redone. It is in a word, breathtaking . The owner, Heidi ONeill was a delight to work with. Everything was completed when promised. I highly recommend this company. **★★★★★ — Kelly Covitt, June 2016** > Heidi O'Neill Landscape Design and Installation did an amazing job transforming our backyard into a spectacular oasis. Heidi stayed mindful of our budget, and her vision, professionalism, dedication, and thoughtfulness exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Heidi O'Neill Landscape Design and Installation and her team. **★★★★★ — mrcrna, Feb. 2016** > We talked about adding a pool at our home for many years but were never comfortable with the proposals for integrating it into our yard. Knowing that this would be a large project that would include a complete redo of our entire backyard and being a design professional myself, we took the selection of landscape architect for the project very seriously. Heidi ONeill presented a range of design proposals after hearing us talk about our vision, life style, aesthetic. She patiently worked with us on details, design decisions and budget. She managed the role of general contractor to coordinate the utilities companies (a huge feat), the pool company, the landscaping and plant material and all of the tradespeople. Our home presented some challenges - the utilities, limited space, some existing conditions (such as a change of grade in our yard, existing trees, zoning limitations) that Heidi expertly worked through. Not only did she transform our home with a creative design for our pool and landscaping, but she coordinated all facets of it so well, that the time between the back hoe arriving to dig up our entire yard and our first swim (in heated water) was not even 4 weeks! We are thrilled with the project and credit its success to Heidi Oneill/ONeill Landscape Design and the equally excellent pool company! **★★★★★ — User, Feb. 2016** > Heidi provided a wonderful landscape design and installation for us. We had renovated the interior of our home, and we needed to refresh the yard as a complement. Heidi was reliable and creative, and provided a wonderful selection of plants and trees that look great year round. She also helped us with beds, a deck, a patio, and a paved walk to make everything come together. Highly recommended! **★★★★★ — leelyheiman, Feb. 2016** > Remove old decking and install new patio which would provide a visual extension of the interior of my home. In addition I requested that the maintenance be minimal, while providing colorful plant material to bloom throughout the summer season.
